I love k-pop and BTS. Me and my best friend would listen to hella k-pop in college long before BTS rose up. The old school guys like GD and T.O.P. 😆 But the BTS Army/fandom, man... They really can be too much. Not everyone, of course, but... it's SO crazy. I don't understand it. There's no reason to attack ANYONE, especially people genuinely wanting to learn about k-pop.
twitter is crazy, man, i am fairly active on bts/kpop sides of twitter mostly just to keep up with what groups are doing and have fun with my friends, which is the best way to enjoy it in my opinion. people take things far too seriously (as seen with those people that would harass you, which i'm so sorry happened to you). you see it in any fandom in my experience, a small minority of people take things too far and end up becoming a negative stain on the perception of the fans to outsiders, it's just with bts their base is so large at this point that the small minority percentage of people who act like that is quite a big number of people, unfortunately. i hope if you ever decide to get into bts again you do and enjoy it! or don't if it's not something you feel is worth returning to. i've found the most joy in kpop or any interest i've ever had in just being invested in how i feel i want to be and not that anyone else online says is the right way to do it, which i hope you can do too!
And this is why I stay from away from twitter. I don't have the time nor the energy to deal with all that bs. I like the music I like and no toxic fans will stop me. And most BTS fans are respectful.

Getting to this video late. I just found this channel from watching videos of your friend group. I like your vibe, you are my kind of human. I am an “older” ARMY. I appreciate BTS’ music - the lyrics are so good, they have great personalities and are amazing performers. There are so many jerks on social media in general and there definitely are in fandoms - including ARMY. Usually “ARMY” latches on to male fans so it’s unfortunate that they went after you. Ridiculous really. Glad you are still a fan. They have been putting out a lot of good solo work during their break. I hope you are checking it out. I have taken a step back from most of social media. I don’t like all of the drama and negativity. Anyway, you are a good dude in my book!!

my take on this is that if you liked them to some level then you should keep showing it however it is you feel like, even if it's just listening to a song here or there or actively answering to their posts. I've been active on armytwt for almost 2 years now and whatever you described just seems like people taking it too far and taking all the fun out of it, so definitely shouldn't be seen as the standard,a s anyone is welcomed there. army since 2018 here and the not so supportive fans is why i never gave them a chance in the beginning because a lot of them are not so welcoming or gatekeep and even bully you out of it so i’m sorry this happen ryan :/ there are no positions it’s just some of them are really cr*zy and hope you still listen to them every once in a while and a lot of them there is both a negative and positive side to it but the negative just pushes everyone else down mind you i listen to more than 10 kpop groups so usually there is also fan wars and it sucks because at the end of the day it is just music
There was Bts war at my school during sophomore year. This group of people would make fun of other musical band. I like twenty one pilots they literally made fun the band I liked. When we did the class dance they always made someone was in charged of the dance to make sure only Bts was the dance. There were some hands thrown during that time at my school
