The reason I dropped off listening to KDP video channels is that the producers can't or won't show a few of their successful books. Still, they have no problem showing other successful independent KDP books; then, I can't take their advice seriously. I appreciate those channels introducing me to KDP publishing, but they're wasting people's time because they aren't transparent enough.

I used to think like that, but if they disclosed their books, then people would copy and they would not be successful anymore. The fact is, it is quite difficult to find those profitable niches and eventually it's not a secret anymore even for them and the hard work starts all over again. Same thing with people selling us stuff and being affiliate, why not? (unless they keep bombarding us with their courses and such). Being a TH-camr is not a sign people are not making it at KDP simply, many people like to be gurus and lead people doing crappy videos. The good videos represent a lot of work to make with good content and we all know who the good gurus are, we just drop the others, but true, we never blindly follow anybody! I agree with Raydog, the $ reports with no idea of what made them that $ are pretty irrelevant. Raydog might be the most/only transparent one out there and yet, understandably so, he does not tell us everything, that's just fair.
I’m one of the sad group you mention toward the end. Started KDP well over two years ago, sold some books but then the plethora of quick money making with KDP vids arrived on YT and the more I watched, the more I got put off taking it further. The comparison game is brutal. It’s so easy to think ‘I’ll never manage that in a million years’ or ‘I’m not as good as that’ etc etc. There are a few tried and trusted people I still follow like Rachel and StackinProfit for news, sound advice and motivation to get going again but now I’m extremely suspicious of the get rich quick channels. Just watched this video ... year late! I came so close to shutting it down. I hadn't read the description, so when the crazy slug idea came up, I wondered what the heck was going on. Glad I waited to get to the good stuff.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your honesty relating to the KDP journey. I've consistently been at it for a little over a year, and now consistently make 5-10 sales a day. I know it's not a lot compared to others, but I try not to let the youtubers with their income reports discourage me. I hope to see more growth and success as my design skills continue to improve.
It's more than you had a year ago! Don't compare yourself to others! I've only made my first 4 sales but I'm not giving up! Looking forward to when I can get to consistent sales daily!

I’m finding success in one particular niche and creating books that I’ve made myself. Not tons of sales but steady sales. It’s gonna take longer but being realistic is most important. Please keep creating videos. Your insight and journey are helpful and prefer your channel because I listen to you like a podcast.
I think listening to too many people who profess to know their stuff on KDP can be really overwhelming for the beginner. For someone who has some knowledge of KDP it can be boring to listen to those who say they are the experts who are literally repeating what everyone else is doing. My outlook on the industry is to stick to my own values and produce something that is original whilst keeping an eye on what people want.
Sooo clever! I’ve been exploring this area recently, and I’ve started to see a lot of these “easy” methods that actually have a very difficult part to it which requires real skills and experience.

Hello Chris, Thank you for the value and the quality of your videos. In my case, I stopped watching videos about KDP a long time ago. The topics are repetitive with no value and don't reveal the reality. some TH-camrs try to make this business very easy (which is not), they create attractive and catchy titles (Easy niche..., +10k dollars niche...) to make lots of views with no value at all. KDP nowadays is very competitive, you have to work hard, create quality books, differentiate yourself from others, and in lots of niches you have to boost the books with ads. You're the only KDP TH-camr that I follow, your videos are great, and the topics are interesting. Thanks again (Y)

I pointed out the risk you put your kdp account in as much anything else….This person has a huge following, oooohhhhh……did they come for me! The message she was giving was clearly better to believe than what I said. I just avoid all other kdp videos now - except yours!!!

Most of these people not making any sales need to realize they may not have the skill set for success. Some of the KDP books being listed are the equivalent of someone taking a wood box outfitting it with an engine and wheels and calling it a car. Stay in your lane.

Hi .is it necessary to see of your main keywords are on books showing in the result ,for example we search pink cute notebook and there are books ranking but not with exact keywords some will show word pink ,some are coming with notebook and others with cute so with no exact match or in othet cases no match at all but still shows on page 1 so it confuses is it the keywords its ranking or other keywords hidden,so what is the suggestion should i go for it

Wish there were more channels like this that let people know the truth..that making money online is not as easy as how it is shown in some of the channels..where they reveal a niche and make people, believe (especially beginners) that they could make thousands of dollars by just following that single niche..making them contribute to the mess that is already existing in the kdp space. Definitely niche videos would be helpful during the initial days of the KDP journey..but wish those channels encouraged beginners to do their own niche research and emphasis on the importance of adding their unique spin to these.
