It’s fun to watch the basketball officials make the split second calls. I managed City Leagues and teams and never really know how hard and intense it gets for the officials during a game. Very interesting! No wonder there is a shortage of people wanting to officiate games. Man oh man! It must be tough!!
Just a personal choice/style. When certain plays need more strength, sometimes multiple whistles give my brain a split second extra processing time, to fire away with decision. One long whistle for most plays, two short or more whistles for certain keys plays. Thank you for your feedback.
I was thinking the exact same thing. One toot of the whistle and that’s it. That’s all you need unless the action is still going after you blew the whistle the first time.

Why so many toots on the whistle? Sometimes 4-6?
