I watched your video with my 4.5 year old son and I thought you would like to hear his comments. While he did think the table was cool the stand out points for him were. 1) he really digs your intro music. He had me rewind it at least 5 times before we could even get to the build and 2 more times after we finished watching the entire thing. He also made note of your "COOL" Star-Wars R2D2 coffee cup that made an appearance right after the 4 minute mark. Thank you for including so much of who you are in every project.
My son was telling me just yesterday that he wanted me to make a Lego table that could open up in the middle and have lego stored underneath. Great build! Keep up the great videos, Bob!
Looks like a ton of fun! I really liked how you held the Lego pads together with actual Legos! ha ha. I think my kids would love this. I built a big bin for my son's Legos, but it is low and it would be nice to have it where they could stand at it.
I'm part of a Lego User Group (LUG), I was just telling another member all about your Chanel and the making it podcast...and low and behold you post a Lego video!! Great timing and an amazing project!! I'm going to share this video with the group, they will love it!
Lego search potential: master level. This is like a dream LEGO box. Growing up I had two massive LEGO boxes under my bed but they weren't covered boxes so they pretty much required a bed to slide under.
I'm really glad you included the bit about spacing the lego platforms using a brick. That's great attention to detail for how the table will be actually used, something adults frequently overlook. Nice build!
Around the shop we use the 77 as a temporary adhesive and because of our environment controls it has a short open time. Love the project I can see this also being used as a coffee table or even a craft table. Oh the possibilities.
Love the build. A table like that would be great for any children activity and it would be perfect to keep a room clean by just having a couple of tables like this in their room or play area. Thanks for sharing
Magnets on the sides (burried)to keep it steady when it is closed, and also magnets somewhere inside to hold it in place when it is open. Great stuff! Great dad!:)
Using the speed square to reference off of is a great tip for cutting miters. Man miter cuts always suck this will help a lot. Thanks for making this video.
I don't have children or, therefore, grandchildren but this is a great idea. I'm building one for my wife who likes to do jewelry crafts and this givers her tons of storage in the bottom and plenty of space for current projects in the top. Plus, I can leave it the family room and it "hides" all the "junk". Think I may upgrade the visible wood to make it a little more in tune with our decor. Basic construction the same but veneer to upgrade the look and possibly solid hardwood legs. Will also add a power strip and a gooseneck light for the fine detail work. Mine will have a cork top versus the Lego sheets but I'm considering seeing if there are Lego pieces that can be used to assist with the jewelry builds. A way of "blocking" pieces in place could be useful. Guess I'll need to get up to speed on Lego pieces now too. Great project that can be adapted for a multitude of toys, games, crafts, etc. Thanks for putting the project on your site.
A great follow-up to this build would be a Lego storage container system. Our family has 12 years worth of Lego collections, most are now in giant tubs. I'd love to see a design for storing all the different components. Wheels and tires go one place, 1x plates are separate from 1x bricks, which are separate from 2x plates and bricks, etc. Great design!
bandsawing legos? HERESY! as a Lego fan your table is awesome. I wish I would've had it as a kid. I bet I had just as many legos as your kids do. great build!
This is beautiful! Believe it or not, I'm a Brick Specialist at a Lego Store. People ask about storage and tables all the time. I'll have to point them in the direction of this video!
Love the idea, actually about 75% done with it however I’m learning new things the plans are lacking in detailed measurements for example I have never worked with dado curs before but with ALOT of test cuts I’m figuring it out. Also would be nice to have a list of accessories such as slide size LEGO plate and anything else I’m misssing
Great video. Thank you! I built 10 tables over the Christmas break - slightly different design. The bandsaw tip was awesome. Using super 77 spray adhesive on both sides is definitely the way to glue these down. My only beef with the project is the cost of the baseplates -- my tables were about 24"x48" and I used the generic 10x10" plates from amazon so I needed 12 plates per table. In Canada, I was paying over $60 JUST for the baseplates to cover them.
hey mr.Bob, I'm not like a big time builder. But your really enjoyable to watch, an I appreciate the way you explain every thing. good job man! Its cool to see you chance your dream. praying for you dude.
Hey Bob, amazing table. I am going to start making one, but since our space at home is limited I am planning to make a smaller version. Perhaps one single piece on top that will slide instead of two. Really love your channel, can't have enough of your videos. By the way, I found your channel because of Rob Scallon's shovel guitar video. That dude is a genius and so are you.
Hi Bob. I like to make stuff too. lol. I got an order for one of these tables. Looks like a lot of fun to build. I'll send you pics when its all done. Thanks for adjusting the table top size to accomodate the lego pads. great idea.
dinosaur VS POTTY! i think i've read that book about 100000000 times in the past two weeks since we've come home with it from the library. I like vs bedtime better tho. awesome table, love it. I see this in my near future with my two little dudes
Hey Bob, Another great video. I was thinking about your issue with the wiggle on the sliders, you could try picking up some small rubber rollers (probably for a toy plane or something since you'll need pretty small ones), then milling another slot into the inside of the table halves and putting the rollers below the sliders. That way you can have a constant space between the table and the top halves. The slots will keep the marks left by the rollers mostly concealed and will prevent the rollers from turning in the wrong direction.
Hey Bob, great project, great video, I like the way you show the process in quick time but the explanation is still there. Another words great editing. I also Ike the way you list all the tools in the disciption. I will look for those corner clamps. Great job.
I really love this project. I wish Ihad something like this when I was a kid. I also like the fact, that there are still kids like yours out there that play with lego instead of tapping on an Iphone screen
I have been making small Lego tables for a few years now. I have found that contact cement works the best. One thing though you have to be careful and have to be patient because you only get one try to get it done correctly.
Awesome video. Even when I'm not planning on building what you make in your videos, I love picking up general building tips to apply elsewhere. Thanks for another fun upload!
The 15x15 gray baseplates are certainly the more economical choice, but Lego also makes 10x10 baseplates in green and tan. You would need more, but could do a minor tabletop dimension adjustment in order to avoid having to cut them in half.
Love lego, would be cool to have the SPACE to have such a table. Of course, it would also be cool to have a bandsaw, table saw, mitre saw, drill press, hundreds of clamps and a workspace :P but watching from afar is good too, and I don't have to empty dust collectors :-) :-)
Bob, now, build little boxes of various sizes (a la Marius Hornberger) that go in the big box, so the bricks can be sorted by type. Encourage your kids to sort, so it will be E.Z. to find the right piece.
Yes, magnets über alles! Also, the empty voids on both sides under the top eat at me... add some drawers on those narrow ends? I'd put specific bits (say, gears/wheels) in those so less rummaging.
+I Like To Make Stuff thank you i really like it it actually work for me really well i am a lego fan for 3 years 1 thing it doesnt fit all of my legos but still it works for my mocs, and reviews soon really thank you
Of course the one tool I'm really interested in (the angle finder) isn't in the tool list :D Great build! I love doing woodworking for the purpose of building lego!
That is a great build and for the alterations why not ad a sliding stop block at each wall of the interior box to lock the sliding table tops outward? You've made such a great build why not go all the way.
i actually like this table a lot and i am thinking of building it for my place. one thing i would change is the finish, probably stain it so it a more presentable piece of furniture before sealing it.
Nice work. I built a lego table for my son that has the top sides fold down, had drawers in the middle and castors so it the can be wheeled around. Means it can be folded down to about 25cm wide and rolled into a corner. ;) I used the 3M 77 glue also which is fantastic, but after 2 years, it has started to lift in areas.
Great project. I would recommend not using Titebond III glue on indoor projects, it will sometimes stain the wood or resist finishing. Also, you can save yourself the money and get the cheapest yellow glue you can find. If you don't think it is strong enough check out Matthias Wandel's strength test videos.
Very nice work. I kinda wish my brothers and I had something like this for our LEGOs when we were younger! Still shouldn't stop me from building one now (I'm 19) XD
hey bob, a really good design for this solution to the eternal problem of Lego everywhere! But wouldn't have it been smarter do place the cut plates on the outer side and place the uncut ones near the gap to ensure a good fit for blocks placed across the gap?
great work Bob I love it but if I were to make this I would change the size of the table top so that I would not have to cut the lego boards. that's just something I would do but it's still a brilliant build. Keep up the fanstatic work Bob.
5:30 the spacer on the right hand side falls to the floor. Could that be causing the wobbliness, since the sliders are not exactly in the same spot ? :)
I like that when the recipe calls for a tablespoon of "x" they give you a tablespoon. No waste. If you went shopping you would have to buy the whole bottle of "x"
nice build a bob - my little one is into Legos too- all the tiny Disney princess sets .been trying to get her into the bigger Legos but she likes those mini ones that leprechauns could play with

+Jeremy Bearth That's awesome Jeremy!
I Like To Make Stuff Is there a way to but the same table? Because I want to buy one for my son
Jeremy Bearth i
SINISTER 7 Find a person near you who has the skills to build it, then give them the plan and ask how much it would cost.
I let out a giant sigh of relief when you spaced out the baseplates with the bricks. thats an awesome table.
Awesome project. My granddaughter would love it. Heck I love it, I enjoy playing with Legos too.
+Skully Wood & Metal The plural of "Lego" is still Lego not Legos
+Joshua Irvine no its lego bricks/mini figs
There's no such word as "Legos", there's only "Lego".
lol i was thinking of commenting it's "lego" btw then i noticed several people beat me to it lol
My son was telling me just yesterday that he wanted me to make a Lego table that could open up in the middle and have lego stored underneath. Great build! Keep up the great videos, Bob!
+Scott F (BCThunder) Smart kid! ;) Thanks!
Great design, Bob. I like that having the floor-level shelf guarantees you won't lose any lego under the table when they fall on the floor.
+Ben Brandt Exactly! I forgot to point that out in the voice over.. oops. Thanks Ben!
Looks like a ton of fun! I really liked how you held the Lego pads together with actual Legos! ha ha. I think my kids would love this. I built a big bin for my son's Legos, but it is low and it would be nice to have it where they could stand at it.
Nice job Bob. Your kids are fortunate to have such a great involved dad. I know I would have loved that when I was a kid.
I'm part of a Lego User Group (LUG), I was just telling another member all about your Chanel and the making it podcast...and low and behold you post a Lego video!! Great timing and an amazing project!! I'm going to share this video with the group, they will love it!

Magnets on the sides (burried)to keep it steady when it is closed, and also magnets somewhere inside to hold it in place when it is open.
Great stuff! Great dad!:)
This is too cool. Loving seeing it after hearing about it on the podcast.
Using the speed square to reference off of is a great tip for cutting miters. Man miter cuts always suck this will help a lot. Thanks for making this video.
+Dan The Maker Man Glad it was helpful!
Games are life you don't have enough money for the materials, but want to buy a finished product? I don't think you understand how this works.
@@mimked I think he meant he can't afford to buy the required tools
The table came out great, Bob! Your kids will have many great memories of their cool Dad making them awesome stuff!
Your systematic approach to making videos makes this look so easy.
I don't have children or, therefore, grandchildren but this is a great idea. Back in my day, we used the floor to play with LEGO :D
The table design is pretty cool, good job :)
+Many_pixel hahah :) Yeah, my Mom made me a big blanket with a drawstring so I could clean up easily. It was pretty awesome actually.
bandsawing legos? HERESY! as a Lego fan your table is awesome. I wish I would've had it as a kid. I bet I had just as many legos as your kids do. great build!
This is beautiful! Believe it or not, I'm a Brick Specialist at a Lego Store. People ask about storage and tables all the time. I'll have to point them in the direction of this video!
You like to make stuff, i like to watch your stuff
The fact that a lego block was used to make this table just increases the awesomeness to over 5000!
Love the idea, actually about 75% done with it however I’m learning new things the plans are lacking in detailed measurements for example I have never worked with dado curs before but with ALOT of test cuts I’m figuring it out. That's a great design Bob! The soft close slides were a good choice. Well done!
hey mr.Bob, I'm not like a big time builder. But your really enjoyable to watch, an I appreciate the way you explain every thing. good job man! Its cool to see you chance your dream. praying for you dude.
+Danny Lyle Thanks Danny! I appreciate that!
Very nice build!
Also A+ on editing of the video!!
This build was very entertaining to watch!
+Matthew Braun Thank you!!

+S133S Thanks so much!! Rob is awesome!!
I can't build anything, and I'm not interested by doing so, but I find these videos fascinating and oddly satisfying ! :D
15cm and a sixteenth?!!!? What madness is this mixing scales? Great build!!!
your voice over is very easy to listen and very clear even for a non us-speaking
+iino kinji That's great to hear, thank you!
This is too cool - think I'll make one for my son's 6th birthday. Great video!
Hi Bob. I like to make stuff too. lol. I got an order for one of these tables. Looks like a lot of fun to build. I'll send you pics when its all done. Thanks for adjusting the table top size to accomodate the lego pads. great idea.

awesome table, love it. I see this in my near future with my two little dudes
Great project! I'd add maybe some sorting dividers in the top container for easier searching for parts. Great job!
Hey Bob,
Another great video. I was thinking about your issue with the wiggle on the sliders, you could try picking up some small rubber rollers (probably for a toy plane or something since you'll need pretty small ones), then milling another slot into the inside of the table halves and putting the rollers below the sliders. Thumbs up for being a rad dad. I want to make cool stuff for my kids when I'm a dad.
Very great project again Bob! I was excited since you mentioned it in the podcast!
You are so talented with your woodwork skills and creativity! I envy it! Keep on making videos and doing what you do best!! Much support
Hey Bob, great project, great video, I like the way you show the process in quick time but the explanation is still there. Another words great editing. I also Ike the way you list all the tools in the disciption. I will look for those corner clamps. Great job.

God I wish I had this as a kid. You must be the most awesome Dad anyone can have. :)
this channel is so awesome i could never ever make cool stuff like this but its so interesting to watch!
Awesome video. Even when I'm not planning on building what you make in your videos, I love picking up general building tips to apply elsewhere. Thanks for another fun upload!
Another great build Bob. An you need to get more lego technic's. You can put strong magnets in the closing joints to help pull 2 half's together
+utkanf Oh.. these are my kids Lego.. MINE are in a different place and FULL of Technic :)
How about adding flush mounted magnets by drilling a hole with forstner bits to keep the table either opened or closed?
The 15x15 gray baseplates are certainly the more economical choice, but Lego also makes 10x10 baseplates in green and tan. You would need more, but could do a minor tabletop dimension adjustment in order to avoid having to cut them in half.

That digital angle gauge looks awesome! I need to get one of those.
Truly awesome and amazing. Well done. Give yourself a pat on the back.
Bob, now, build little boxes of various sizes (a la Marius Hornberger) that go in the big box, so the bricks can be sorted by type. Encourage your kids to sort, so it will be E.Z. to find the right piece.
Great video Bob! I've been working on some ideas for a Lego table for my daughter, I'm just going to buy your plans instead! Great build!
Cool! That taper jig was pretty slick too
Pete
Best dad ever! man I wish I had this when I was a kid!
I dig it. I'm going to attempt this for my son's christmas present. Thank you for the video!
Nice job Bob. Maybe use some magnets under the sliding top and on the edge of the Lego bin?, you must have some left over from the coaster project ;)
+Doc Darkness Yeah, several people have mentioned that. It's a great idea and something I may try out!
use magnets to close perfectly
Yes, magnets über alles! Also, the empty voids on both sides under the top eat at me... add some drawers on those narrow ends? I'd put specific bits (say, gears/wheels) in those so less rummaging.
I want to make it for my nephews. Is it sturdy enough
+Gaming With_Yusuf I've got 4 kids, and it is for them.
+I Like To Make Stuff thank you i really like it it actually work for me really well i am a lego fan for 3 years 1 thing it doesnt fit all of my legos but still it works for my mocs, and reviews soon really thank you
i want to make this for me lol
you're a true craftsman I'm impressed with you're work!
Of course the one tool I'm really interested in (the angle finder) isn't in the tool list :D
Great build! I love doing woodworking for the purpose of building lego!
+Mike Bryan Oh man.. I forgot it.. Adding now
That is a great build and for the alterations why not ad a sliding stop block at each wall of the interior box to lock the sliding table tops outward? You've made such a great build why not go all the way.
Your brilliant! I loved playing with legos when I was a kid. kudos to you sir.
i actually like this table a lot and i am thinking of building it for my place. one thing i would change is the finish, probably stain it so it a more presentable piece of furniture before sealing it.
Nice, I bet the kids are gonna love it and you won't have to chase them around to clean up after playing!
your skills have come a long way since your first videos (I like them too). great job
I know I won't build it but somehow I found watching these videos make me satisfy.
Nice work. I built a lego table for my son that has the top sides fold down, had drawers in the middle and castors so it the can be wheeled around. Means it can be folded down to about 25cm wide and rolled into a corner. ;)
I used the 3M 77 glue also which is fantastic, but after 2 years, it has started to lift in areas.
Awesome!!! Think I can make this with just a hammer, screwdriver and pliers?!! That's all the tools I own!!
Great project. I would recommend not using Titebond III glue on indoor projects, it will sometimes stain the wood or resist finishing. Also, you can save yourself the money and get the cheapest yellow glue you can find. If you don't think it is strong enough check out Matthias Wandel's strength test videos.
I find that cutting thing a little closer to size gets rid of the shake in drawer slides. If those are the same ones that I have been using.
Can u make a series where you teach us how to use common machines safely and effectively. That would be awesome :D
My Grandpa used to own Art Creations Co. and he built one of these for my cousin and older brother for Christmas a few years back
Nice build. The kids seem to have given their approval.
Your kids must love you
I hope so :)
They sure do :))))
Everything thats cool daddy does and mommy is keeping us from getting out on the roof top:))
Superjainsavestheday hm,mm,
Very nice work. I kinda wish my brothers and I had something like this for our LEGOs when we were younger! Still shouldn't stop me from building one now (I'm 19) XD
One of the coolest projects so far
Looking good, Bob! Looks like a lot of fun.
Nice speed square trick for measuring miters. Thanks for sharing.
hey bob, a really good design for this solution to the eternal problem of Lego everywhere! But wouldn't have it been smarter do place the cut plates on the outer side and place the uncut ones near the gap to ensure a good fit for blocks placed across the gap?
+MadixLP Smarter? I don't know about that, but it would have certainly been another way to do it for sure.
What about some magnets to lock the top closed and to lock it open?
great project and video. I am seriously thinking about building this for my grandson.
try countersinking magnet strips for when it's open
Excellent design, Bob!
great work Bob I love it but if I were to make this I would change the size of the table top so that I would not have to cut the lego boards. that's just something I would do but it's still a brilliant build. Keep up the fanstatic work Bob.
Did you ever find a more suitable slider that didn’t have as much play? I plan on building this for my son fairly soon. Thx!
5:30 the spacer on the right hand side falls to the floor. Could that be causing the wobbliness, since the sliders are not exactly in the same spot ? :)
Very cool project. ....and we have also used hello fresh a couple times a week, before this video. There's some great meals!
+Paul Meyette Yes! The sloppy joe's were awesome :)
I like that when the recipe calls for a tablespoon of "x" they give you a tablespoon. No waste. If you went shopping you would have to buy the whole bottle of "x"
dude! awesome!! your kids must love this!! great project!
great job bob !
May I suggest you add some kind of "letter tray" (as we say in french "bannette"), a place to stock lego's guide ?
+Marie-Dominique Deshayes-Tabarin Oh, for the instructions? Good idea!
Hi there, what a fantastic idea!!! I'm going to have to build one of these for my children.......they would love it!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
nice build a bob - my little one is into Legos too- all the tiny Disney princess sets .been trying to get her into the bigger Legos but she likes those mini ones that leprechauns could play with
Queue the music : "Everything is Awesome!!! " Great job
this is a really cool project
I wish I'd had one of these as a kid. definitely going to make one when I have kids
using magnets so when yhey shut its way to make sure it doesnt wobble or anything like that. loved this project!!!!
Dude your kids at SOOOOO lucky and these videos inspire me to build stuff but I don't have the right stuff... But I love your vids keep it up👍🏽
Every kid needs a lego table! sweet project!
