A string quartet accompanied Martin during the performance of One Caress.
This was the last concert of the 1993 Devotional Tour. The 1994 Exotic Tour began two and a half months later with a drastically changed setlist.
To date, this was the last time Mercy In You was performed live. Higher Love was also played for the last time until the 2013-2014 Delta Machine Tour, when Martin sang lead vocals instead of Dave.
Here is Daryl Bamonte's entry for the famous Devotional Tour diary, published in Bong Magazine in 1994:
"Played Wembley tonight. A very good show, but you guessed it - backstage was chaos. We had a good party at the Regent afterwards. So what now - a long rest... NOT! I move house tomorrow, then it's Christmas, then it's time to start all over again..."
Marxman was the supporting act.
Depeche Mode in 1993 was:
Alan Wilder
Martin Gore
Dave Gahan
Andrew Fletcher

The last Devotional Tour date, end of an era, from here is where everything went really downhill.
WAR DABEI MIT ,,INDI TOURS,,.GRÜSSE GEHEN RAUS.
With the departure of Alan Wilder, the real sound of DM left. Now we have an overacting rock drummer and a soulless keyboardist. DM should have replaced Alan Wilder with a musician of his level who is a multi-instrumentalist. Just listen to how 'Black Celebration' sounds live now (2024), it starts off great but then that drummer comes in and ruins the whole song.
I agree with you. However, their live shows can still be quite fun. I saw them in October of last year, and I had a good time. They should go back to using drum machines, though. Wasn't a fan of Eigner.
Discount Lars Ulrich. Not a fan, same as the wedding pianist, spare me.
Enjoy The Silence too
You and your Alan are hesitating! If you don't like it, don't listen!
