    Thank you everyone who attended my live stream. This one was a special treat for me because I LOVE surface modeling. It's my jam.
    I highly encourage you to watch my Introduction to Surface Modeling video before you watch this one.
    Also, before any asks... I am sorry, but I CANNOT share the 3D models of the goggle I showed in this video.
    Hope you enjoy the video and I hope you make incredible things!

      Correction: "Reverse Normals" is apparently available with the history on as well. I never noticed because I don't use that feature almost ever.

      @@easyriderj If you import your part into a program like Blender or Unreal textures are only applied to the outside normal.

      @@makeradd3494 That is an excellent reason for me to start paying attention to outside vs inside normals. THANK YOU!

    Hi Jason, nice to see some more advanced tutorials on surface modeling! I picked up a few good tips here! I see you have trouble with your zooming a couple of times. When working on tiny details, you may what to switch to orthographic view mode. Since it’s not possible to zoom past the model in orthographic mode, you will be able to zoom in all the way and keep full control. Especially when using 3D mouse.
    Keep up the good work!

      Blaise! No surprise that I'm seeing a great tip coming from you. I normally use orthographic mode. I used perspective for this live stream partially because the switch from the blue goggle picture to the blue goggle CAD model would look better. The zoom was frustrating and only highlights another reason I prefer orthographic!

    Surface normals are important when it comes to graphics and decals. A surface map of a graphic will be applied to the surface normal and informs the graphic system how to wrap to adjacent surfaces.

    • @easyriderj
      @easyriderj 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point. I'm going to look into this further

      @@easyriderj It's also important in Fusion360 if you use surfaces as a probe location. Flipping the normal will change the probe cycle to the opposite side of the surface. For example, if you have two parallel surface bodies with normals facing towards each other (or in the same direction) the probe cycle will choose x-Channel. If you flip the normals (normals opposite each other), the probe cycle will change to X-Wall, very important if you don't want to crash your probe.

      Interesting to know. I use "reverse normal" but I'm not sure why (see "Hyperboloid Study 2" on my channel).
      I think I'm reluctant to stitch surfaces if they are not "well positioned" first. But I've been said it has absolutely no consequences for obtaining solids.

    I don't believe FXR Racing made those goggles in Fusion, unless someone can tell me how to stop crippling lag after about the 20th-30th complex surface stitch? Moving to Rhino, possibly CREO for all future projects after the nightmare we've had with Fusion surfacing otherwise.

    when you have all the faces facing proper your 3d printer come out priper and not mess up.and same with adding coler . now all of you solet are serfast and done proper so you should do the same thing good pratice make better models.

    now the diffrent between solid and surface is soled is air tight and surfers may not be air tight.

      Go to 10:28 and he shows the parting line dialog box... at the top of the box there are two types of draft, the left one looks like "Planar" and the right one looks like "parting line". He did not demo those but I too would love to see this in more detail!

    I am a member of E-Nable (prosthetic devices donations and such) and I was wondering, how would one model a human hand in Fusion? just quick sketches that have some sort of biological looking shape would be a great help. I'm just starting with surface modelling myself.

    • @easyriderj
      @easyriderj 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tek, to model something like a human hand, I recommend using the FORM surface modeling tools in Fusion 360. While you can do this using traditional surface modeling, the form toolset will be much faster.
