      back foot in the opposite pocket and still scoop for a hardflip. front foot out of the way, has a lot to do with back foot pop

    • @TheTangoTony
      @TheTangoTony 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      if you can frontside flip like muska did they become easier all u gotta do is not turn, also I don't know why but i learned them switch first for some reason the body stay aligned over the board more naturally if i remember right with my front foot i control the board with my big toe

    • @Dan-uy2oy
      @Dan-uy2oy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      i think about opening up my shoulders when i pop the trick easy and then quickly square them back to catch the board straighter and more consistent

    • @ukra_h
      @ukra_h 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The more higher up you put your foot is how you make it more vertical I tend to put it in between the middle and lower part of the board and as my back foot I don’t really scoop I press in this certain spot just next to the pocket and it does the scoop for me all I need to worry about is the flick

    • @LilKapsasBeats
      @LilKapsasBeats 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TheTangoTony exactly my tip. If you can frontside flip like muska, you’ll have no trouble learning hardflips

  • @TattoosbyBealer

    The way I learned to flip hard flips is to basically write an upside down "J" with your front foot while half popping a front shove. I used that reference when I did skateboard instruction at camp woodward and all my campers got it fairly quick

    • @tracehouston3727
      @tracehouston3727 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Lelo so youre using the nose to guide the flip by starting with the initial upside down J (more like ſ if youre goofy), then putting more pop than scoop into your front shuv.

    Just started skating again at 54! I was a vert skater years ago and bought a longboard about 2 months ago... I'm loving it but wanted to do more tricks so I bought a board for street skating! I'm still getting used to the shape and the shorter wheelbase as compared to a park or pool board but my confidence is building everyday! It's never too late to start again! Having great core balance and being in shape doesn't hurt either! Shredd On!

    Hey dude this is incredibly inspiring. At first simply because the amount of control with grinds and slides that you have along with the age factor. When you mentioned your torn ACL I instantly connected with you. I tore my ACL about 5 years ago and that sort of led to my decline of skateboarding. Every trick I do feels like I’m protecting my leg first rather than committing. Recently I’ve been doing A LOT of stretching and very lightweight strengthening exercises and have experienced a massive increase in my knee’s reliability. I’ve started skating again and people don’t believe that I stopped skating since I didn’t lose much style. I really hope I can keep making it stronger to be able to relearn some more advanced tricks. Right now it’s all about stylish/effortless basic tricks. Since I feel safe and confident. Thanks for showing me that I’m not the only one out here hustling with this injury and no surgery.

    Ive been skating for 20 years and never knew how to hardflip. I watched SKATE HACKS video on how to hardflip and literally was landing them after my 6th try. I learned you have to delay that front foot flick just a tad to let the board pop up for the vertical rotation. Such a fun trick!

    Chad! So Sick!!! I'm 29 and I've been trying this trick for so long. It is time. I'm going to keep in mind what you said about them. I also try to do them off my nose. I do that with other tricks too like varial heel, varial flip. I even 360 flip off the nose. One of the Hardest tricks out there no doubt. It's cool to see your channel getting more traffic too! Always good stuff man! Peace

  • @rufussthubbins8891
    @rufussthubbins8891 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I haven’t skated in about 5 yrs, and had the same exact mental blocks as you for the longest time.
    What eventually helped start landing them was the emphasis of the flick on the front foot. You essentially have to mob flip it to get the leg outta the way. But I would literally put my front foot a little further back and would go even further than a mob flip.I would literally flip less than 90 degrees; more like flip at a 50-60 degree angle. This will help speed up both rotations of the board.
    Also I agree that the nose tip is better for them. Awesome video as always man 👌👍

    Dude props! I don't really skate anymore, I'm 34 and I also tore my left ACL still skated and snowboarded for 4 years and played hard. It wasn't till I tore my mcl at a skate park and couldn't walk on it. I got surgery and after about a year it felt normal and strong again. Then I had my other knee blow apart the next summer acl, mcl, meniscus. So after 2 full knee reconstructions and both ACL replacements I just don't really skate much. But you've inspired me and you're right, that mental block is the biggest most difficult thing to get past. I always feel like my new ACLs are these fragile little strings in my mind when though that's not the case. Keep up the hard work thanks for this video!

    I always saw the hard flip as the 2nd example, ( the mostly vertical one) but that 1st example of a hard flip looks so so smooth! 😊 The 3rs example doesn't even look like a hard flip.. It still looks tough as hell though!

    I’m a little bit younger (27) and just learned how to hardflip about a week ago , it is so freaking cool haha feels amazing when you actually get it . The feel when you land it is a total shocker

    I'm 32 now. I tore my ACL when I was 30 in Aug 2018, had it rebuilt and recovered through the 11 month minimum at age 31 through 2019, and truly started skating again November 2019. In Cleveland, where it snows. We're talking, lemme see if an ollie hurts type stuff. Everything was new again, and additionally terrifying. Dropping-in became harrowing. My friends progressed without me. Today, I'm skating new avenues the old pre-knee me did not, and despite the anguish of seeing the young bucks make chicken feed out of the tricks it takes everything for me to commit to, I still go skate and engage in the combat with the voice in my head and the devil on my shoulder to GET TRICKS. Stop waiting for it to be easy or for it to flow; skateboarding is physical war. My knee made a full recovery btw, but the mind never forgets.

    Something that helped me land them on the first day when trying to commit to actually land them, was forming them for a week for fun and catching them with my front foot. Did this everyday for fun, didn't believe I could ever do it. Formed them perfectly every try and loved catching it mid air. It wasn't until my friends saw me forming it, "you got it already just commit" , I landed it at home after 20 mins of trying nonstop. Forming the first day of said week was really bad, but I wanted to learn how to form it and catch it for literal fun bc they look so nice. Paid off out of nowhere after a week and felt unreal

    The TH-cam algorithm brought me here. I enjoyed watching! I literally yelled out WOO!! When you landed it haha. Nice job. I started skating a few weeks ago after about a 13 year break. Skating at 15 is definitely different than 28.

    I learned them a couple months ago at age 32! My main advice would be to put your back foot a little more on the tail (as opposed to the back end edge of it), as you would doing a fakie Ollie. Then focus on pulling your front leg in so it gives the board room to rotate

  • @matthewbabin9033
    @matthewbabin9033 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to think of them as kickflip shifty but at the last second rotate my body back. Helped me to see the flick. Then eventually I could keep my shoulders straight.
