      My only problem with that game is that I completed a season, and had all of this money, yet nothing to the spend it on! You had to acquire points to upgrade gear...It was stupid

    In short the fedex is basically the season championship of the pga tour. Like the super bowl for the NFL, the World Series for MLB or the Stanley Cup for the NHL.

    Do y’all know how much points you are rewarded in the let say St. Jude Invitational or BMW Championship or Tour championship for making a birdie. Say you make a eagle how many points do you go up? If you make a double bogey. What is the points scoring system while the tournament is going on?

    This confusion goes in LIV’s favor. Why can’t the PGA fix this? Maybe get more fans if more people understood how the PGA works.

      LIV is definitely changing golf, and the PGA tour is becoming better because of it.

      I actually like the idea of matchplay to determine the weather none of that handicapping BS triple points bonus points signature events come on man

  • @SnappingTurtle444
    @SnappingTurtle444 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm not feeling this handicap system at all - IMO - PGA ought to just pay a bonus to those w/ more points. 🤷

    • @GolfAscending
      @GolfAscending  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a money grab for the PGA...By having these playoffs they can milk a few more strong fielded tournaments 😉

      @@GolfAscending ... But the handicap system though 🤔💭 That makes no sense to me - giving Finau or Rory a 10 shot lead/advantage to start is ridiculous. They need something new - I think LIV will expose this.

    • @GolfAscending

      The reason for this is to reward the players who played the best during the season, but to give a fighting chance for those who are in the hunt. The best comparison I can make is in the NFL, you have teams that make the playoffs and have week 1 byes. You have other teams who are in a wild card position and have essentially a play in to get to the playoffs. You also have things like home field advantage awarded to the higher seeded teams. Think of the round 1 byes, lower seeded matchups and home field advantage as your "handicap". Hope this helps illustrate it a little better for ya!

    • @SnappingTurtle444
      @SnappingTurtle444 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GolfAscending I understand the comparison that you are making but IMO it would be more like giving Tom Brady a two TD advantage in the Super Bowl or Giving the Golden State Warriors a 25 pt. lead in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Point being: it's not fair and little wierd but the money is good which forces players to participate - I get it. Also, there have been rumblings for years of eliminating the NFL "Bye" format in order to have more Games to televise, as well as even out the playing field. MLB doesn't have a bye; NBA doesn't have a bye; CFB doesn't have a bye. Bye Bye 😌

      Hey Zoe, really appreciate the comments and conversation! I can totally understand this point of view. I think simply what it comes down to is less about "winning" and rather about "rewarding" the players that did the best during the PGA season. Like you mentioned in your initial comment, the PGA should just pay a bonus to those with more points...essentially that is what they are doing by giving these guys an advantage going into the Tour championship where the payout is huge. That brings me to my initial comment...instead of just paying them on how they did on the season, the PGA is going for a money grab...by having a weighted tournament where they essentially are paying out for the season, but have a televised golf event with the strongest field that year.
      Again, appreciate your comments and conversation! I know there are many people with the same opinion and I can get on board with that. I'm personally just here to watch good golf and to be entertained, and the FedEx Cup Playoffs and Tour Championship does that for me! Hopefully it does for you too!

    How could anyone be watching this tournament not know what it is. It’s been around for over 10 years. They keep tweaking it. I hate the new format and it’s importance has been diminished over the years. It’s almost like an afterthought. It’s nothing like the Super Bowl. it’s nothing like the playoffs, there’s very little intrinsic interest, the year-long race for the FedEx cup. How many times have I heard that 7228 times and they bumped the prize money but we numb to the prize money right yeah the format needs to change.

      Prize money is brought up a lot lately…and pretty sure nobody cares.
