I had the draining battery problem and my mechanics couldn't work it out. I had them remove the blue and me unit and bingo - the mystery solved. Thanks for this!
I've heard of one person in a forum removing it and cleaning the PCB module (shown at 3:50) with compressed air and fixing it back inside (fiat punto), worked with most people who've tried it. I'm facing the same issue but LCD is completely dead now. Will try the cleaning method. Thanks for posting the video
@@elektricka The USB did light up(no light before the clean) after fixing it back but did not read any media for playback. The display kept going on and off briefly and went dead again for few days and comes back displaying gibberish time to time. All in all it did not fix but there were changes. You might have better luck hopefully. Itl take roughly 10 mins for the proces so worth the try. Currently looking for an alternative way through reading the OBD
Thank you for the video. I installed an aftermarket 2-din radio and had no need for the Blue&Module. This is the only guide i know of that actually shows how you can program it out of the car.
@@gregorych1866 hi, if you mean to use the steering wheel controls to now control the 2-din stereo then yes, i can do that. I purchased a Connects2 CAN-BUS adapter lead and a patch lead for Sony stereos it even allows me to customize what the buttons on the steering wheel do.

I had this exact problem on my Fiat Punto Dualogic 2014. Battery drain of 0.17A with the car in rest, and when I remove the fuse of the Blue&Me, the drain current went down to 0.1A. Also, my odometer is blinking and my usb isn't working. Thanks for the video!
@@devsheoran3542 took out the passenger compartment by unscrewing 6 torx screws disconnect the connector ,,,,,,, reconnect it again and the odometer will stop flashing,,,this work for me!

I've got a flashing odometer after an aftermarket head unit was fitted and the B&m unit removed and discarded (not sure if the battery was disconnected prior to B&m removal). Older cars do not respond on the can-bus fault code you create by disconnecting a module without disconnecting the battery. The fault is there, but doesn ‘t lead to a blinking odometer.

The obd-software determines which obd-adapter can be used. If you try for instance the free version of MultiEcuScan, you will find out if it's supported. Nowadays wifi and bluetooth connections have improved a lot, so it should be okay to use wifi. Good luck!
Hi, how do you change parameters for steering wheel buttons, audio output/input in MES proxy alignment? I can see parameters but no way to change them as described in the video.
Do you have a payed version of the MES software? In the video I've used a picture of the demo screen, therefore the characters are in red instead of black. These characters should be black if you want to change the parameters.
Hello, I bought my Giulietta Qv and the odo was blinking. I was wondering if the reason is the blue and me module because I was not able to connect to it with my phone or usb. Removed the battery and started working on it. Found out that my blue and me module was not connected so I fixed that and reconnected the battery. The odo was not blinking but still not able to connect my phone or do anything with the windows/menu buttons. I am still not able to use my Usb port. Do you have an idea for that? Maybe I should run proxy alignment and try to set the buttons to the 8button type if they are changed at some point to 6?
Hi Gabriel, looks like your Blue&Me unit is broken. There's only one reason for the previous owner to disconnect the Blue&Me unit and that is a drained battery:( I would recommend to check the drain current when the car is switched off for a while. You could get a replacement Blue&Me unit or fix the flashing odometer by following the video. Good luck!
I have tried myself but I didnt succeed. If I remember correctly the fault code with "CAN B" in the name, which appears if you unplug a CAN-module without disconnecting the battery, made the odometer also blink. However some cars, like older Fiats, doesn't have a blinking odometer with this fault code.

@@Cybertron667 MultiEcuScan enables you to clear the current fault codes. However when the cause of the fault code is still present, the fault code will appear again. This fault code may then lead to a blinking odometer.

Hi Gregory, I think you can. There are 'steering control units' available which communicate with the steering wheel buttons and the aftermarket radio/headunit. However I don't have any experience with them yet. I'm sure you can find some information on them on the internet. Good luck!
Thank you for sharing, now I know why my odometer is blinking. Usb port is not working and also cant connect to bluetooth. Is there any chance to still connect to usb port to phone? i also tryed to plug a jack into radio but camt find the diagram of the pins and is different from Bravo which jack 3.5 is plug and play.

It depends if the aux is connected directly to the radio or via the Blue&Me unit. In this case the big issue was the empty battery, it kept being drained as long the Blue&Me unit was connected.
That's right, the second part is to stop the blinking of the odometer. Taking the plug out of the Blue&Me unit will stop the draining of the battery. I'm not sure the fuse is only for the Blue&Me unit, if that's the case you could just remove the fuse.

I'm afraid I can't help you with that. I opened the module but there weren't any flaws visible, so I just deconnected the unit to stop the battery drain.
Hi Tony, Thanks for the video :) - I have the same problem I have pulled out the Blue and Me module and I am deciding on whether to live with the flashing odo or purchase the Multiescan software and cables however a little nervous to do this . I have asked some Alfa mechanics if they can reset but none are willing - very strange why they cant do this - looking to purchase cables and software do you by any chance know of any suppliers in Australia? - I have checked and can only see the Uk supplier. Hi Sue, as a matter of fact this video started as my father's Alfa mechanic didn't want to fix it! I think the problem is the mechanic can't explain why it takes some hours just to stop the odometer flashing. When you are lucky it is a quick fix, but when the car doesn't want to cooperate it can be time consuming. For instance if the radio is replaced by a normal head unit and the old radio is not there anymore, and the replacement was done without disconnecting the battery, it's impossible to stop the odometer flashing, apart from 'emulator boxes'. The good news is you can by the OBD-kit step by step. First you can buy an interface module of the following type: ELM 327 v1.3+/OBDLink/OBDKey in Australia (ebay perhaps?). On the HELP-page of MultiEcuScan.net you can find more information on the interface modules. Furthermore you should have the A3 adapter cable. I made it myself from ordered parts, just follow the guide on the VEHICLE-page. Then you can download the free software version of MultiEcuScan. With a limited amount spent you can try if it works. You should be able to retreive CAN-BUS info from the car. Now you can buy the licensed software online from the website and you can start the procedure as in the video. I must state that you might not be able to stop the blinking if there are more faultcodes (like from the radio) or something else is not cooperating:(. However luck favours the brave so just go for it!
I switched my existing headunit to a android one on my Punto Evo 2010 ever since the odometer started blinking i did a proxy Alignment i got a timeout error on ETM but everthing was on Ok/EOL Ok and it didnt stop so i thought it may be the Blue&Me module thats interefiering with it because everything else works fine so i did everything as you did in your video disconnected the battery unplugged the module and changed the settings in MES and still odometer is flashing and now i get an „EOL Failed“ on ETM do you know what that means
Did you disconnect your original Fiat radio with the battery disconnected? Because if you don't there will be another error code in the body computer which causes the odometer to blink.

It basically comes down to disconnecting the battery, disconnecting the blue and me unit, connecting the battery again and performing a proxy-alignment of the CAN bus. The odometer blinks when a CAN module is not working or a CAN module is removed without disconnecting the battery, but it also blinks when a CAN module is missing. By performing a proxy-alignment you alter the list of CAN modules in your car. In your case you should perform the proxy-alignment to stop the odometer from blinking.

Blame Micro$oft for that stupid and faulty Blue&Me device, based on ancient WindowsCE operating system. I swapped over several of them, and no one was completely fault free! These are produced by Magneti Marelli, but are essentially ARM-based WindowsCE computer, that constantely crashes and locks. Usually disconnecting the battery cable may fix them for a while. Shame on you Microsoft manufacturing a so stupid and problematic device.

Once you've removed the Blue&Me module, do you have to complete the second step or is that only for the blinking odometer? Thanks
That's right, the second part is to stop the blinking of the odometer. Taking the plug out of the Blue&Me unit will stop the draining of the battery.
I'm not sure the fuse is only for the Blue&Me unit, if that's the case you could just remove the fuse.

It should work for a fiat 500, it's a general procedure. The steering wheel buttons may differ perhaps though.

That's correct, usb port and 'aux in' are part of the blue and me module

@@AgriDrone Unfortunately this doesn't fix the blue and me unit. It only stops the battery from draining and the odometer from blinking annoyingly.
