Couple of observations: 1) Use masking tape to protect painted panel from accidental damage while drilling holes. 2) Use nyloc nuts to secure modules to the chassis. If nyloc nuts are not available use thread-lock blue - Loctite 242 to keep nuts from backing off 3) Always use a wire hook to connect a wire to eyelet :( Do not rely on solder to provide mechanical support.
You've never built a solid state amplifier that's obvious. People like you should start with a high voltage vacuum tube amp. Do zero research, maybe you won't live through it.
@@dougieroberts7045 before you judge maybe you should understand what speakers are being used and how this was recorded. ha, i saw what you did with the speakon, mounting holes where drilled in mirror, so you needed self tapping screws :) instead of the normal M3 bolts Nice work, would have chosen a heavier transformer though.
Nice looking amp. I'm a bit worried about lack of protection. I didn't see any fuse on that transformer. Also there should be some inductance to remove noise from line. I also didn't see any fuse on other side of that transformer. But who knows maybe there was some. Anyway. I would suggest to add steel plate from both sides so actual amplifier is shielded from transformer .It might help a little to remove the hum/noise.
There is a fuse on the power inlet. A noise filer would have been nice, but there is no switchmode stuff and a lot of capacity, so I am sure it is fine.
@@Daaremikkel yes Sorry i did miss that. I'm glad for that also i'm glad for that second fuse on secondary. @@SylwerDragon That and adding speaker protection would be a great idea especially given plenty of room inside the chassis. Overall, I think for the advertised budget it's a pretty solid build. Never rely on a soft soldered joint for mechanical strength. The holes in the transformer tabs are there for a reason, you're meant to hook a wire through each and make the joint so the end of the wire is evident. See 11:40 into the video for what I'm typing about. With the transformer connected as shown you'll get around +/- 21 V DC, hardly a high powered amplifier - maybe this is an advertisement for the PCB manufacturer that you get paid for.
I know its been months, but I believe that is a particualr brand of transformer prevalent in Indonesia which has multiple outputs. Usually it has support for preamp 12-0-12 or 15-0-15 located at the bottom while on the other side has the higher output usually 28 to 55 volts
a powerful amplifier with a radiators located UNDER the amplifier boards, with no air inlets in the bottom of the housing; probably only for use WITHOUT the housing...?
it is not very relevant. The amount of air blown by the fans is way larger than the amount of convected air. If it is a sound design when listening to low level music is a different issue. I don't believe in power cooling by default.
Bro... Why did you zip tie audio, power and mains power cables together? That single step blew your insulation rating AND made it more sensitive to noise and interference. Also using black for earth? You took 4 premade components, put it in a box and screwed up the wiring. That was a 16 minute video. Nice.
None of the wires soldered went through the loops. No vibration mitigation on the solder joints. Fans blow back to front and are powered by wires parallel the audio signal. Eventual galvanic corrosion between steel and aluminum due to lack of isolation. Undersized transformer. No fuses beyond the C15 power jack. Binding posts are INPUTS?!!? I'm guessing this guy is FRESH out of school. Make a few PCBs and now you think you know everyhing.
@@dexcronicle9813 Sorry brother, I don't have need to build one of these. If you plan on building your own, keep in mind a few requirements. Keep high power and low power signals separate so you don't introduce noise. Make sure your weakest components are fuses so they break first before anything else. Consider gluing down large components like power capacitors so they don't break off of your PCBs.
Nice housing, but why a transformer and no switching supply? No Temperature controlled noisy fans? might be good for a club but nothing else. Real commercial equipment would have at least a 6.3mm connector for input and not rca, or better xlr with balanced signals. Don’t cost a fortune and makes live much easier with interference problems (ground loops).

1: cost 2: "this is how we've always done it" mentality 3: SMPS would need high switching frequency and good filtering to make sure noise doesn't make it's way through. 4: would need tight integration with the amplifier section so it can preempt large current draw and not rely on watching the voltage of it's output dipping before it reacts to add more current in. 5: Most professional amps (at least all the recent ones I've seen) DO have SMPSs. 6: in the end, amps with SMPS are better since they can recharge capacitors must faster than 60Hz so you can use capacitors that are smaller and produce higher total output at lower frequencies.
