I got ahold of EVERY single Darkplates 2.0 colors for the PS5, including the black Darkplates, the white color Darkplates, and the PS1 Playstation Grey Darkplates. And In this video, I go over the unboxing, the Sony Playstation and lawsuit that led up to this release, and compare the Darkplates 1.0 vs the Darkplates 2.0. I really like the overall aesthetic of the 2.0 plates. I went and got the black out led cover stickers. Totally a game changer
I just got the Darkplates 2.0 and not only does it change the overall outfit and look of the PS5 to make it "slimmer" but its also functional, especially if you hide your PS5 under a desk for space or in some corner somewhere it might not get much ventilation and circulation.

Really appreciate all the trouble you went through for us (sliced up Pinky Finger included, Pinky's the real MVP)! Personally, I'm diggin the white faceplates w/ a matte black center. The flushed curved edges/corners is how Sony should've designed it to begin with. Not gonna lie tho, the dBrand look has an Xbox 360 vibe to it. LoL.

I actually like the new design...but with those fan openings, does laying it horizontal affect anything? Was hoping to see you demo at least one laying on its side.

I just want to know if the stand works with 2.0 darkplates when used horizontally. I can't find anywhere that confirms this. :(
Stand still works normally with 2.0 plates and yes you can lay it horizontal as well. The system will still work the same I just recommend once a year pull your system out remove the plates clean out the dust filters just run them under the water dry them reinstall. The system actually runs more cool with those fan openings so it’s worth getting the 2.0 plates

I pre-ordered the official midnight black plates from PS Direct as I personally hate the white plates but still want my console to look stock.

The round shape is 10x better then the squareish original shape makes it look slick
I've already ordered a set of matte black darkplates with a matte black center and the dark ocean blue LED cover strips and I've also ordered an LED fan set that is an LED ring that goes around the fans on each side and plugs into the USB port in back for super easy install with the vents in the darkplates it'll make the LED fan lights look even better, they have 8 colors and 400 light effects and a 40 key remote and can also be controlled by an app on your smartphone!
What is the brand of those fans??
I scooped up the 1.0 darkplate with black decal for my Ps5 back when it was available for order, It's still looks amazing! just have to dust off my console every month cuz I never turn it on, it's literally sitting there waiting for GOW Ragnarok and FFXVI 😂

My brother has a PS5 and it's the basic black and white look. I plan to get my own PS5 whenever it's not impossible or extremely over priced. I personally plan on getting darkplates from Dbrand as I think they actually look better than the original popped collar look of the Sony plates. Also I'll probably do the inverse color scheme with black darkplates and white center as it looks absolutely amazing.

I love the fan airflow opening / bullseye 🎯 for the PS5. It’s a innovation in the right direction to prevent overheating and the mesh covering helps keep the dust out.
Interestingly enough, according to the ps5 engineers, the fan opening on the cover causes a reduction in air pressure which in turn reduces effective cooling for the internal components, as to why they never put one there as they originally planned.

@@FragranceFrontier I didn't hold on to the video for posterity, I just happen to see it in my recommended videos and watched it. But if you want to look for it, I think it was a Wired magazine video or maybe a playstation vlog video. I don't know.
Pulling the case off the first time is scary. I recently did it to install my SSD. But once you see the two circles on the case that lock it into place when there's no upward force, it gets much easier.

The retro gray would look AWESOME with a matching retro skin.
I like the black 2.0. I bought mine last week but won’t get it for another month or two. I like that they removed the collar and added the vents.

I originally ordered PS black " Console Covers" but decided to cancel my order and go with the 2.0. I prefer the rounded look and Should be getting them shipped in Feb.

What if you put the ps5 with the Dbrand covers on its side will it put hot air back into the ps5 or will it be ok????
Was gunning for a set of DP 2.0 for a while but just happened to catch a new but unused dbrand boxed set of 1.0's for £40 on eBay. Couldn't pass up the value. Lucky scoop as I was just searching for a decal at the time. The fan insert is very nice though but 1.0 will do.
Was there any need for whole sections dedicated to unboxing and installing the dang things? Those could’ve easily been taken out of the video altogether or at the very least shortened or time lapsed!
The aesthetic is very nice on 2.0. I love white consoles, so I was always liking the color scheme of the ps5. Unfortunately I want a white piece on The middle to get rid of the black. Which is exactly what I did with the 2.0 since they offered it. The led strips...ehhhim thinking of just using an led strip on the inside and just connect it to the USB spot.
I really wanted to see the magenta color on the white 2.0 to see how much it popped

Where did you get your stand for the disk version. My old stand doesn't fit the darkplate version.
I just took mine to my painter and had him give it a professional gloss black look was way cheaper and looks amazing.
For clarification regarding the light strips, do they still change colors based on console status? Like for example when the PS5 is in Rest Mode it turns an amber color. Sorry I couldn't tell from the video, it looks like it went smoothly from Blue to Magenta. It looked awesome, but just want to make sure before ordering
Yup! That’s exactly how it works. So rest mode and booting up mode still show the proper blue and orange colors, even with the sticker on 🤗

I’ve yet to see a PS5 in person so idk how I really feel about the popped collar look, but the 2.0’s lack of the collar makes the machine look totally different.
Funny what an inch of plastic can do for aesthetics. And I wonder if there’s a purpose for it, other than looks.

Yes. I think that's why they offered the dust filter for people who doesn't like or know how to clean the fans.

The 1 and 0 on the plates is a binary code of the letter that Sony sent to dbrand

I have darkplates 2.0 and the stand won't sit flush in the vertical position the screw goes in at an angle it seems they are a bit too thick is this just me?!
Don’t know which one to get, as in my opinion the ideal cover would be dbrand’s collarless design in black without the fan cutout, with the PS5 logo and a colour sticker underneath. That would look sick. Initially I thought the fan cutout was a good idea, but after reading direct comparisons it turns out it does virtually nothing for airflow and might actually let more dust inside, and it just looks cleaner without. In that sense the OEM covers make more sense, but then you’d have to accept those obnoxious collars. Sigh
I thought the same thing. No collars and the logo cut out would be perfect
