In case you didn't know, dropsy is an actual medical term. It's the nickname of an illness called edema where fluid swells up under your skin. Considering how the character Dropsy is puffed up and rubbery I imagine that's why the creator of the game called him as such.

for those unaware, dropsy was originally featured in an animated comic series in a similar vein as Homestuck and Problem Sleuth. give it a search! It was utterly amazing, had heartbreakingly emotional moments (seeing poor dropsy cry was genuinely upsetting to me) and many uplifting moments. the creator even relied upon fan feedback for what to do next on dropsy's adventure!
Wow I'm impressed that you managed to upload this video even though your recent loss. You are without any doubt one of the strongest people I know (even if just "virtually). I wish to you all the luck in the world! Keep up the good work :)
One of the really interesting things I found out about through a friend's LP of the game (he's sort of in-the-know since he was on the Skype calls where a lot of the puzzles were created) is that the huge Dracula and Thor thing is because the game takes place on an island cut off from the rest of civilization, and a movie called "Thor vs. Dracula" was filmed there a long time ago. A lot of the props and sets remain, and the people of this island regard them as holy relics and think it was a real fight that happened.
Was that... Mystery Science Theater 3000??... Haha! What a reference. As a Minnesotan, I approve of this. Seriously though, this looks pretty cool and unique. Might give it a shot. Yaaaaaaaaay~!
I'm loving the graphics in this game! So colourful~ And with fantastic choices for colours too! So pixely~ And yet it looks like it was hand-drawn and then digitized, kinda like Yoshi's Island! So well animated too~ I wish more games looked like this these days... And you know what else I'm loving in this game? The absolute lack of text! You know, I love a good deep and developed story as much as anybody else, but what I love even more than a good story is when something, be it a game, a cartoon or a movie, anything of the sort can tell a story without any text on-screen, without any dialogue, I LOVE when a story is told all through animation, images and emotions alone and you can still understand what is going on! This is fantastic! It's genius and it's friendly with people who speak other languages!

Feels like some hidden gem lost to the ages rather than a modern indie game. i may have to check this one out sometime.

When the first Dropsy post appeared on SomethingAwful, never could we have imagined that it would turn into a game. Look up those original posts - you'll find the story telling fascinating because it's actually run by feedback. For example, the dog became a fixture because someone posted something like "aww that dog so cute, adopt it!" and so it was done.

Looks like it could have been a Cartoon Sushi short on MTV back when they gave a damm about animation too! I even had Radiohead's Paranoid Android song playing in my head looking at this! :D

God, I just LOVE these types of games. It's such a shame that entries to this genre are few and far between these days. That's one reason you gotta love indie games: they do genres and game types that mainstream developers won't touch. And, since they get to be more creative, indie games can make powerful statements about our society and psyche that most games can't convey. I'll definitely be checking this one out. Thanks! :)
Thank you for the recommendation on this! I just finished the game and really enjoyed it. I feel good that I only need a couple smallish hints in a couple areas but overall was able to do most of it on my own. Even still, I missed a few things but sounds like I'm not alone there. This game has renewed my interest in adventures games. I'm looking at Kathy Rain for my next one.
been meaning to look at this, it looks weird, creepy and unique for a point and click. Everything i love in a game! We need more unique games like this.

And it would make sense that this game had less of a budget- there were far fewer people involved and keep in mind; no voice acting - less people to pay. So I would say it's not a fair comparison based on the game designs, but I will say that I enjoyed this game a lot more than other indie adventures.
It reminds of The Last Door. It's a two season Story set with the same graphics as this, and is a horror game. The graphics are fantastic, and the story is possibly the best I've ever encountered in a video game. It's cryptic, but very enjoyable. You should definitely try it!

+Hemang Chauhan I really don't think the order of which you play these games matters! They are all REALLY solid. If you are short on time and want to reserve the longer games for later though, Dropsy is definitely shorter and less complicated. :)

Not me. When I feel frustrated with a P&C adventure game, I usually end up feeling furious and STUPID when I figure it out. It's either "HOW WAS I SUPPOSED TO GET *THAT* !?" or "OH F*CK ME, IT WAS IN MY INVENTORY THE *WHOLE* *TIME* ???" either way, I'm flipping the table.
Last time I checked they're still patching one or two of the "side hugs". There was also something about further updates and a percentage meter but I'm not sure how reliable that information is.

I found out how to help the smoking girl and the alien without looking it up, but I could never figure church lady out.

It really does look gorgeous and really captures that Full Throttle, Sam & Max and Day of the Tentacle era of Lucasarts from what i have seen. Kinda nice to help people for hugs rather than to suit your own sick and diabolical agenda.
You probably khow that, there is gonna be a update to add more stuff, and correct bugs (did you manage to get the papers to the bible? there is a bug who don´t let to complete that one) i manage to get the ones you missed, is kind of dificult indeed, good luck next time o/

This game was so, so good. I actually bought the soundtrack on vinyl when it came out.
The NPC communication reminds me a bit of Gobliiins, another great adventure game series.

You could hug a tree in QFG2. In fact, you could cheat and hug the tree repeatedly to unlock the Paladin class.
