My most favorite composer, the person by whom I set my listening standard as a young boy listening to Eugene Ormandy and the Philadelphia Orchestra on the old 78 recordings of Scherezade.

Beautiful melodies, no better way to end than Procession of the Nobles, one of my favorite works of Rimsky-Korsakov.

The Lithuanian and Indian Dances.....sublime!!! "Mlada" is such an astonishing work in its own right that the various extracts, such as these or "Night On Mount Triglav", act as perfect appetisers! Colour, vigour, excitement, joy, high-spirits... all and more in this wonderful music!

Un autre chef d’œuvre orchestral de R.K., dans la malle aux trésors magiques de ce coffret de Jarvi.

A truly beautiful suite throughout. Sadly, it is often only the final cortege that is played regularly on radio. What a lovely CD, I must add it to my collection.
