I wish I could bring these hard-working guys to a modern industrial facility and provide them with proper safety equipment. But also, these guys are unbelievably skilled using the tools that they have to make good working components.
hell this is what it was like in american factories before we wised up and formed labor unions in the early 20th century. these folks in the video are in hell. history has shown the labor movement led to the massive manufacturing capability that won the second world war. if they unionized they would be doing everyone a favor. and they might live to see retirement.
The steel they are cutting has a high lead content. Makes it easier to cut. These guys put lead in everything.

Tolerance must be +/- a football field and especially on the depth of the shoulders with no DRO. This is basically wood turning based on the measuring tools used. I feel bad for the workers though, at the bare minimum they need safety glasses.

Сколько будет ему стоить этот микрометр с доставкой?! По поводу работы по поверчным кольцам так сказать, какая разница из чего они, они свою работу выполняют на всет100.
Да мерить на вращающейся детали не верно, согласен. В остальном приемлемые условия для изготовления крайне дешевых валов.

When you are desperate - when employers see you as a *marginal-at-best employee,* due to disfigurement and other, related matters that I didn’t see or understand at the time - only the very worst places will *bother* to hire you, and then conditions like those seen here are the rule.
In my case, I was varnishing transformers - hot, sweaty, hard labor, breathing chemical fumes with no protective gear - up to twelve hours a day, and six or seven days a week. No benefits except a check, and that for minimum wage. This was in 1980-81, in Southern California.

Amazing work
I've watched a number of these mid east vids of men running machines, just to see how they do things. Being a machinist myself, (for 30 some years on all manual machines) I wonder why these men don't use the power feed on the lathes. The fellow on the lathe in this vid is taking about 1/8" chip for a length of around 10" and he's cranking the saddle by hand all the way. Just use the power feed, guys. That's what it's there for. Helps production and you look like you work hard enough already.
Respect to these men in the old brick buildings and dirt floors!
Probably find the power feeds failed. Thats why they got the lathe cheap from another manufacturing company. But to do a deep cut like he did can only overheat the job and tool. So the measurements will be out when it cools.
Most of these workers are anaphabetics and nobody told them about power feeding.

В Ёбургской конторе за такую же работу человеку 35т. публиков платили. (2017г.) Ну он и работал наот... И везде почти так. Говорят: "как платят, так и робим." А начальству главное дешевле. Так что они очень классно работают за небольшие деньги. )
Согласен, какие там сотки, там и десятками не пахнет. Мерить линейкой диаметр, это каменный век. Да., зажрались мы, нам подавай меритель весь электронный, да ещё с проверкой каждые 3 месяца. Уважаю работягу. Сам с 1982 года токарю, но с таким мерителем не взялся бы за эту работу.
Только наши наверно все же не такие чУшки. Даже при таком раскладе постараются уют и чистоту навести, насколько возможно.

I will never get this thing about developing country factories. So they have good machines, their workers know what they are doing etc. Old machines, yes, but you can do good work on old machines, no problem. But so many times the "in between" is so broken. People work on the ground, people lift heavy loads, people carry heavy loads, people feed machines by hand that could be fed from simple hoppers. Stuff that can be fixed by a couple bucks worth of old lumber and a few hours of work. I don't get it.....
Workers are cheap, machines are not.

If el power hammer guy for example used a proper die (simple ring die these guys could make themselves easy, not a closed die, just a helper to get a right shoulder) to make the shoulder, the lathe guy would spend WAY less time machining. Now the lathe guy may be cheap. But the MACHINE TIME isn't. Not to mention that forging would probabably also be faster because no need to be ginger with the Hits if you can upset the blank into a die to size it. Again, the guy may be cheap. That giant hammer and the electricity to run it, not.

Почитал коменты. у меня тоже ряд вопросов. Почему такие большие обороты? Это, наверное, конструктив станка не позволяет поставить меньше? Почему они канавки не делают на резцах? Причем это вопросы не именно к этому видосу , а вообще ни у кого не замечал канавок. Тут хоть резец не резьбовой.
1) Обороты. Конструктив станка позволяет поставить любые обороты. Перед нарезанием резьбы он открывал крышку передней бабки, скорость там меняется посредством переброса ремней на шкивы.
2) Заточка резцов. Там только сливная стружка, причём синяя. СОЖ, штангенциркуль- не не слышали! Допуски/посадки- нах. У нас две обоймы подшипников 1914 года, ими и калибруем.
3) Шаг винта видимо совпадает со шагом нарезаемой резьбы, ручки крутит не выключая привод.
4)Резьбу угробил на высоких оборотах, даже ремень проскользнул. Искры я думаю все видели.
5) Почему так, потому что спрос большой. Почему спрос большой, потому что качество хавно. Не тебе термички, ни ГОСТов по мех обработке.
Вариантов нет. Ладно хоть кованое.

оно видно, обрабатывается не очень, вязкая сталь.
Видео идет Х1.5, от этого ощущение бешеных оборотов,да и шкивы вытертые, ремни буксуют на малых оборотах(без инерции детали и патрона)От этого и подача только ручная, чтоб не задавить станок.На резьбе буксонул и сломал напайку.
Почему не делают канавку? А почему гнут электроды и точат всё "резьбовыми" резцами в тапочках на голом полу? Так обучены.
Плохо то что с таким"развитием" машиностроения как сейчас происходит в СНГ, лет через 10 мы будем смотреть такие видео как обучающие.

@@Pow3llMorgan most are in these videos. My guess is that the half nut or whatever mechanism that particular model uses is flat broken or wore out. They are often using cheater pipes to tug on the leadscrews while they take MASSIVE cuts. Improper machining techniques can still get the job done but man its hard on the machines.
@@GOTboost-tl3qi can you elaborate more on what a cheater pipe is? my brain is not registering but how could he manually feed a threading operation or am I missing something? in the video it seemed auto and he did change something in the machine before the operation right?
@@KK10155 power feed for the carriage is generally separate from the threading portion. The threading on a South Bend 16 for instance is a lever and engages a half nut where the power feed portion is a friction clutch deal that is engaged with a knob you tighten.

The machinist use’s bushings as measuring tool, after a few use’s the bushings are out of shape. The quality control can improve really easily by spending money on some better tools and safety equipments.
Those bushings look like the inner race of an old axle bearing that was off that model of spindle.
He likely has a bunch lying around.

Lathe man has the hardest job. If he fucks up those threads, the whole piece is scrapped and all the effort leading up to that is wasted.
