Poilievre accuses Trudeau of waging a “war on work” with high taxes

  • Speaking during question period at the House of Commons on Monday, Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre accused Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of starting a “war on work” with taxes and questioned whether the government would announce “serious penalties” for gatekeepers raising housing costs.
Trudeau responded by giving examples of the Canada child-care benefit, clean energy investments and workers’ benefits as policies to support middle-class workers.
NDP MP Jenny Kwan also said that the closure of Roxham Road over the weekend with “an invisible wall” would “only drive persecuted asylum-seekers on a more dangerous pathway,” while parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Marie-France Lalonde responded by saying that the government had “finally updated” the Safe Third Country Act and that this was a “victory.”
Green Party leader Elizabeth May said she was “scandalized” following the statement from Han Dong last week, demanding to know “What the heck is going on here and will an inquiry find out who in CSIS thinks it’s okay to leak to the media?" Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic Leblanc added that he believes the appointment of David Johnston as special rapporteur would be important for the next steps.

Major tax including income taxes hikes one month away!
    Will more Canadians request bankruptcy?
“The feds will make life more expensive with the April tax hikes,” said Franco Terrazzano, Federal Director of the CTF. “Trudeau shouldn’t be raising taxes when Canadians can’t afford gas or groceries.”
The carbon tax will increase to 14 C/L of gasoline and 12 C/CM of natural gas on April 1!
-The alcohol escalator tax automatically increases excise taxes on beer, wine and spirits every year by the rate of inflation. Alcohol taxes will increase by 6.3 per cent on April 1!
MPs also take pay raises each year on April 1! The CTF estimates this year’s pay raise will range from an extra $5,100 for a backbench MP to an extra $10,200 for the prime minister! This will be the fourth MP pay raise since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic!
    - the government gives $295 million to the Ford Motor Company!
    - Rogozynski: "There may be a recession [in 2023]. That's not the time to introduce a bunch of big new increases!"

None of these corporate parties (operating outside of parliament, and not caucuses controlled by elected parliamentarians) or their hierarchical "leadership" are trying to get useful things done, and only want anti-democratic power for their own private interests.
The Dominion of Canada badly needs to work to become a functioning democracy.

For someone who likes to talk about crypto and other "new" things he alleges to understand, it is amazing how Poilievre's economic notions are right out of the 1700's British Empire.
Trudeau is an embarrassment, but Poilievre makes him look only in comparison.
Why are we focused on China for foreign interference? Before you can be a candidate to run for a "Canadian" election you need to be willing to swear to be "faithful and bear true allegiance" to the hereditary British Monarch. There is nothing that China or Russia can do to threaten Canada's "democratic" elections that could compare to the *foreign* interference by loyalists to the British Empire.

@@speciallevo3170 My total bill is 126.00. HST is $12.00, Carbon tax is $17.00. Other charges are not taxes, you could argue about the “customer charge” of $23.00, but it’s not going to the government so it’s not a tax, just a cash grab from the gas company. Nevertheless, if the carbon tax is removed, that’s a $17 line item, which is certainly not going to provide the tax relief Pierre Poilievre is suggesting is needed. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love tax relief, but I’m not hearing Poilievre’s complaints in this video adding up to that tax relief. They’re just complaints and nothing more. Real tax relief would come on my paycheque, not on my gas bill. And Poilievre is not proposing a reduction in my Federal Tax deduction, which by the way was not increased by the current Liberal government. They actually lowered federal tax by raising the tax bracket thresholds.

What Pierre calls "claw back" is actually a subsidy for workers that do not get a decent salary. When he says that children live in their parents basement because they can not afford to buy a house. The solution is not to make more houses that no one can afford. The solution is to give people a decent salary so they can have a normal standard of living. Poilievre is counting on the ignorance of Canadians. After 20 years of his political career and of accomplishing nothing, now he wants us to believe how wonderful he is going to be.
He is nothing but another corrupt politician.

You need to ask yourself the systemic question: Why are Canada's Democratic Institutions so weak that there is a hierarchy where the leader of a corporation (parties that exist outside of parliament, rather than only being caucuses within parliament) has so much power, and so many voters feel stuck choosing between the lesser of a serious of obvious evils?
None of the Canadian parties or their leaders are worthy of support, they all make me want to vomit when they speak. And yet this is what passes for "democracy" under the Dominion of Canada.

The Dominion of Canada governance system was imposed to be a British colony that remains loyal to the British Empire. To this day it still forces members of parliament, new citizens, etc to swear to be "faithful and bear true allegiance" to the hereditary British Monarch.
NATO was created by the British Empire and its allies to launch a cold war against Eastern Europe who adopted a different Eurocentric economic system (Russian Communism, based on German Marx's minor critiques of British/Scottish Smith's Capitalism).
This is the Dominion of Canada fulfilling the reason it was created by Britain, to be a loyal part of the British Empire.
Note: The British Empire controlled over 1/4 of the earth's surface in 1920. While there has been rebranding since, and is no longer centrally headquartered in London, the Empire remains. This is the largest and worst Empire that humanity has yet created.
