This does not look like a proper habitat for the bears. There is no fresh water, greenery, or shade. And that is way too small an enclosure the number of bears held captive in it. An animal as wonderful and great as these bears deserves better and more.
I normally love the live streams, but it's So SAD to see the small cubs in such a little enclosure. And the main enclosure is crowded, there is zero shade, privacy or objects for stimulation. it is the equivalent of being in a room with white walls, while people watch you every second of the day. Too Sad.
Eileen Gabriel Agreed, i happen to come across a pet store in Japan, saw a medium sized dog enclosed in a cage 1/2 of what we would consider a good sized doghouse, very, very disheartening
What a horrible and depressing place.(Looks like something the chinese would put together.) Negative reviews online. Too many bears in one enclosure. Empty concrete enclosures (zero stimulus). They can only see the sky. The bears self learned parlor tricks to beg for food from humans. Just imagine yourself being lock in that concrete box 24/7 for the rest of your life. I would never support that place.
psygn0sis I can't disagree with you on that. I try to stay positive ... this let's you make up your own mind on if you want to visit. Thank you for your honest feedback!
@一山田 Well, in that case every time we see something we think is morally questionable, then we should just keep quiet coz it happens in other countries too. That way we can just keep on acting with cruelty and never change our ways.
@一山田 Here is your unedited comment that I received in my email notification - *"I send this word to Whites"〝You must be the change you want to see in the world.* Nice bit of race baiting there my little racist troll. You know animal cruelty is wrong and immoral, so please don't defend it when it happens in your country by saying "Well they do it too", it just makes you look childish.
I have been there four years ago myself and did not know what to expect. Seeing the bears in such a small compund and their dirordered behaviour was quite sad. The Ainu village was nice though.
I'm sad to say that seeing those two cubs away from their mom and those bears all together, I didn't like it. I'm just hope that behind the scenes these creatures are treated better than in public. John I know this is not your fault, you are doing a great job showing us Japan as it is, even when I disagree with what I see. I've being watching your videos since you started to hitchhiking, and I don't want miss the end of this incredible journey. Thanks.
I hope you have a safe trip in Hokkaido. Encountering wild bears there is a completely different & scary experience. They are somewhat aggressive these day.
600 bucks a night? No thanks. For this kind of money, I can live for about 3 week in Egypt or Turkey(all inclusive(food, airplane ticket, insurance etc)). But this doesn't meen that I would not, if I had that much money.
Rahhwwwww from TEXAS, much LOVE!!!!! Bear with me, LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL. the door is supposed to be open so if you change your mind before you gain altitude!!!!
Oh that is soooo sick even took the babies away from the mother she must be going nuts, those bears are hungry and ready to kill some one.And yes those dogs are probably their food. All for humans entertainment.not just vegetarians anyone that has a heart.Reminds me of people that ride the Elephants in Thailand.
Daiichi Takimotokan is $600/night? only for their higher end plans. average price per night in a 2 person tatami room (including dinner and breakfast) is around 25000-30000yen for dinner buffet, more for better rooms and more for in room kaiseki meals.
Benji Sun I'm talking about NOGUCHI RYOKAN. It's now Golden Week (spring holiday) and jalan.net had it lasted at ¥60,000 / night I walked past the Daiichi. Looks old but might be nice inside. Lots of Chinese tourists so surely that's pushed the price up (demand is high) but they're all over priced ryokan. ¥10,000 to ¥14,000 / night per person is the sweet spot for Ryokan (two meals and tatami room) -John
ah, thanks for clarifying, because it looked like you were pointing at the Daiichi Takimotokan building and you were talking about that taxi entrance to Daiichi before in yesterday night's video. yeah, Noguchi's quite expensive. i prefer Mahoroba myself. good luck on your way to Wakkanai!
I have to say, that is one sad place to be. Those cubs in such a small enclosure, they should not be used for display at a young age or at least not in such a small enclosure in the Sun. The bigger bears all in one area i think is kinda sad also, thou they might have a bigger area normally & this is a way to help feed them by people paying for the food that they toss in, which reduces the zoos cost. But no real water pool, shade , no hard balls or objects to play with & just too many in one area.
I love you and all that you do John... but I have to shake my head at this. Those poor bears have no grass or water. They did not check themselves into that place.
In my mind, Japan is horrible as far as zoos or places like this go. John said he likes bears. If he did he would not call this a wonderful place. It really is a bear prison. Very disappointing.
Larry Kay I was not impressed with this place. However, I still believe that Asahiyama (Hokkaido) and Zoorasia (Yokohama) are top zoos of the world! The smaller zoos just don't have enough funding or knowledge or knowhow to care for the residents :( don't watch the Ainu Museum video. Culturally important place with horrendous treatment of animals but viewers have let them know. I'm glad I made this so people can see what it's like.
Hola ver a tantos osos hay, me da mucha tristeza, 😢🐻. Ellos tienen que estar libres y si están así es por qué no les dan de comer. No tienen área verde, ni agua y tantos osos juntos. No es comveniente! Qué horror!
This is the most depressing japan view I saw among all of your videos(and I have seen almost all of them). Ai- Petri(Crimea) is a lot more colorful and interesting.
I don't like any animals kept in any enclosure. We got a long why to go in respecting animals with us humans, especially in Asia. And I don't like to support animal enclosure such as Zoo unless it an animal protection program or animal rehabilitation. that place depressing to watch. But I do really appropriate what you are doing and showing the good and the rough side of Japan. Plus I liked the crow stealing the salmon that was funny. But don't really John I really love watching your love streams.
Xcaliber Trekker yeah, they're pretty smart! Out smarted by crows ... they were the ones that knew the best tricks. Catching stuff out of the air is pretty impressive.
Loved this John but darn That Toby Crow. "If I had a girlfriend and the cable car to ourselves, yep I would give her a smooch 😘 " 😂 Remember the Bear Necessities 🐻 of life will come to you! 😉
Title says it all, kinda sad thruth abouth this bear park in Noboribetsu: "The bears were in poor shape. The enclosures where they stayed at were not clean. The biggest area where they kept many bears together was filthy. Some bears had open wounds on them. It was not a pleasant visit." I just reported this Park to PETA.
I assume you're talking about the other video now. That was just a museum, not a living village. There is no excuse to inflict torment on a living creature just for the benefit of tourists.
so many negative comments with this bear park. we dont even know the whole story but japanese people have a huge respect with thier environment and animals.
I wish the bears has grass to lay on. It's all hard surface.
Alex' s HCGaming that would be something (one of many things) I'd recommend / demand.
ONLY in JAPAN * GO well like u said hopefully they get to roam outside of there for a bit because that's also a small area for such large animals
This does not look like a proper habitat for the bears. There is no fresh water, greenery, or shade. And that is way too small an enclosure the number of bears held captive in it. An animal as wonderful and great as these bears deserves better and more.
Best welcome ever! : A stuffed bear 🐻 greets you near a sign saying GET OFF!! 😂
The white ducks can't understand the yellow ducks' quackcents.

The first known video appearance of Darth Toby, the crow. And his legend grows on the OIJ Discord server.
Hello john ... always excited about your live streams !!
What a horrible and depressing place.(Looks like something the chinese would put together.)

psygn0sis u rasist Chinese care about pandas
ONLY in JAPAN * GO
I wholeheartedly understand. You're a great person, which is why I and many, many others enjoy your videos.

💵 $600 for a hotel 🏩!!! I think 🤔 I'd rather sleep in a forest with bears 🐻 🐻! 👍
I too saw a crow rip the head off of a pigeon then eat it from the inside out. It's an image I can't forget! 😱
I have been there four years ago myself and did not know what to expect. Seeing the bears in such a small compund and their dirordered behaviour was quite sad. The Ainu village was nice though.
"Bear 🐻 with us", I think 🤔 John would have preferred to have said "Beer 🍻 with us" ✌️
And to this day, John still hates Toby the crow.
-The End.
I'm sad to say that seeing those two cubs away from their mom and those bears all together, I didn't like it. I'm just hope that behind the scenes these creatures are treated better than in public.

We will rescue these bears!
This place is shocking, so sad. That's at least TWENTY bears in enclosure no.2. Those poor baby bears in that tiny space too. Tragic.
Crow was a Minneapolis-based blues rock band, that was first active from 1967 to 1972.
I hope you have a safe trip in Hokkaido. Encountering wild bears there is a completely different & scary experience. They are somewhat aggressive these day.
I came here to see where the Toby story came from. Thanks!
here after john told us the toby story stealing salmon
The bear at the end was so smart.Pointing at his mouth for food ^.^
600 bucks a night?
No thanks.
For this kind of money, I can live for about 3 week in Egypt or Turkey(all inclusive(food, airplane ticket, insurance etc)).

Good worth it tour ...and Japan has little land but many places to visit thanks
Rahhwwwww from TEXAS, much LOVE!!!!! Bear with me, LOL,LOL,LOL,LOL. the door is supposed to be open so if you change your mind before you gain altitude!!!!
wow, the cable car is so stealth!
I see now that is Toby XD he is a crow now send him to hell valley
Wish I could help you out money bc I sooooo enjoy your VIDEOS and I know that living cost. th so much for ALL your FABULOUS VIDEOS!!!!
Toby The Crow NO!! 👍 😊
Don't get eaten while camping. But if you do, please live stream. Think of all the views. ;)
It did happen to someone IRL. Look up the "Grizzly Man" documentary by W. Herzog. It's terrifying. Do not fuck with Nature.
Yogi and Boo-Boo San..
This is similar to the cable car ride in Lake Tahoe.
Oh that is soooo sick even took the babies away from the mother she must be going nuts, those bears are hungry and ready to kill some one.And yes those dogs are probably their food. yes crows smarter than human.. it taught Cain how to dig..

This bear park is like the Frye Festival, all kind of ways f-ed up.
LOVED IT........
The Ainu bears should be at this park!
The Ainu bears would love to be at this park. The bear in the first Ainu cage was showing signs of mental distress.
Exactly. Wonder if there isn't some organization that could help transfer those two bears.
Make sure Jen doesn't see the bears.
A japanese Keanu Reeves at the beginning!
Thanks !

😀 i don't think that this will calm down vegetarians..
Don't mock the crows/ravens...they will get you 😜😺

The bears are cute. But I am sure the bears will kill anyone, they are not so friendly as you imagine. Am I right???
All that smack talk about the crows and they made you look stupid. I knew one would try that, to funny John.
Xcaliber Trekker yeah, they're pretty smart! Out smarted by crows ... they were the ones that knew the best tricks. Catching stuff out of the air is pretty impressive.
ONLY in JAPAN * GO episode 31: Unbearable Crows And Furocious Bears
Hahaha... that's great. Do you do this for every live stream, a little synopsis comment?
Absolutely lol
Loved this John but darn That Toby Crow. "If I had a girlfriend and the cable car to ourselves, yep I would give her a smooch 😘 " 😂
Remember the Bear Necessities 🐻 of life will come to you! 😉
Brendan PW oh that's so funny to say
High 5 bro
Awfull! No respect for the bears. They took flying capability of the ducks to
Bear taste like turkey.
It was all nice and cute til you saw how many bears were kept in one area. Horrible and not worthy of Japan I would guess.
Title says it all, kinda sad thruth abouth this bear park in Noboribetsu:

You could do what Amnesty International do for political prisoners, and start a letter writing campaign.
I assume you're talking about the other video now. That was just a museum, not a living village. There is no excuse to inflict torment on a living creature just for the benefit of tourists.
Edda L you
