    Low rates is a setting that reduces the distance the control surfaces move. This makes the aircraft feel more docile when flying. We made a video called "Expos and Dual Rates" that explains this in more depth.

    JS, nice to see you out there flying so well. No heaters, trees, or roofs getting in the way (assuming there wasn't any editing). By the way, I think I'm done with the Funbat for a while. I don't know. The wing design looks too easy to build. I think it'll be next.

    I would like to thank Mr. Josh Scott for autographing my Popwing winglets at the US Hornet Quadcopter races. I came in second to a pro racer at the DJI GAMES and it was only my second quad flight EVAR.

    Thanks for that, I'll check it out. Have just "stepped up" to a 9x radio, so am sure I will be able to achieve this now. Hoping to order a Tekumo ASAP. Really appreciate the quick response to my question. You are really helping me learn. I can't imagine how hard the Flitetest team must work to create your vids... though it looks like a lot of fun too. cheers.

    For everyone looking for or wondering about "Goop", just search for *amazing goop eclectic* without the stars and that should take you to the company head page where you can select the product you are looking for. Commonly available in many places under slightly different names... Shoe Goo, Automotive Goop etc. However, I too would like to see how it's applied to a Bonsai as I have one coming!

    Got my wing flying today in the uk and it is amazing! I had a 2200 with a 7-4 prop and a 3s and it is soo good, I'd say it was semi aerobatic and a really good rate of roll highly recommend it! :)

    @herishidesigns Right!
    "Kv" is the motor velocity constant, measured in RPM per volt (not to be confused with "kV," the abbreviation for "kilovolt").
    K = constant
    v = velocity
    k = kilo
    V = volt
    From the Wikipedia article "Brushless DC electric motor."

    The closer you get to directly in front of the radar unit the better. You get what is called cosine error. Your first reaction would be to angle the radar gun but that isn't going to do it you need minimize the cosine between the radar beam and the craft. You very well could have been going in the 70s with this relatively small craft and about 25 feet over the radar. It is always lower and never higher. Also, if your plane is on a curved flight this further complicates the issue.

    If they talk about the glue called Goop its a bit expensive. 8 to 11$ a relatively small tube. But this glue is awesome. You can stab a air matress with a large knife and use only this glue and it will hold pressure even with people on it.

    You have plenty of Amps left (13-14A from what I think I heard) with the 6x4 which tells you the motor can do more. Try a 7x6 with the 4S. If that's too much, take a 7x6 and cut it down to 6.5x6 or 6x6.

    Cont: As I dont have a radar gun. But I assure you its wicked fast. I wanna guess that its atleast 60 mph fast. Oh I forgot to mention the battery set up. Its a 3s 2600mah 55C. If I fly it at or near wide open I can get roughly 15 min flight time before the low voltage cut off kicks in. If I fly at or about 1/2 stick which is plenty fast I get an honest 25-30 min. What a blast. I enjoy your video reviews and have learned some usefull stuff and plan to attempt some of them. Like the glider tow.

    I can't help myself and I have to do a comparison. Im not going to name products specifically but as I dont want to cause a conflict. I have a wing its a 1200mm wing. I bought it from a company out of LA. I took their motor and speed control off and replaced it. I bought the new motor 1250KV and 30A ESC (matched set) from a place out of Illinios. Im running a 9x6 APC with it. Much authority with this set up. I have unlimited vertical with this flying from 5000ft elevation. Not sure on speed.

    You can use hot glue instead of goop guys! :) it's literally called 'Amazing Goop' but as I said, you can use hot glue, tape, even some epoxy maybe!? I'd 'strongly' ;) recommend using epoxy to glue everything together! Much better result, I built my second today! Great planes! Buy two!

    I was looking at options for motors for my Teksumo, and I stumbled upon the bigger motors, but I simply don't get it: why use a heavy, low kv motor, if the thrust of the motors seems very low, compared to the 2205 or 2206 motors for quads, which have crazy thrust numbers, even with small props?

    can you expound on on your tip for using "GOOP," please? I went to wal-mart and found marine, automotive, household, all purpose, wood, assorted craft set and (obviously not it) hand cleaner. I also was wondering if you think it would be a good to just do the entire bottom as well or do you think it would mess with landing by adding too much friction?

  • @organgrind

    I love these shows, BUT what I needed here was a review of the Hobbyking PRODUCT, in particular the Bonsai. Otherwise uninformed watchers need to be aware that neither of these wings is being flown with the power-combo that Hobbyking intended. In fact the Bonsai will not accept a 6x4 prop without cutting away wing-foam. What I REALLY NEEDED TO KNOW was how the wing performed with the product spec'd power-plant and prop. Is it flyable indoors? as they claim. All that I was able to learn was that with an oversize power-combo the plane flew 'squirly' and that we didn't see Josh S 'land' it: for some reason, LOL. Most of what we saw was Josh B doing speed flybys with the Tek Sumo. Very disappointing. STILL I ABSOLUTELY LOVE FLITE TEST. The beginner series is, to quote our Swedish friend, both 'awesome' AND 'yummy'.

      Nasir Jamil basically swap the horns to the top, side, then the servos and pushrods keep in the same location but have the arms to the top.., now find room for the esc,, RX and battery... like here www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1629292 are some pictures .. It never looks as good as when the gear is below, but most times heavy landings are bottom first, and this saves your gear..
