OMG!!! I love, love, love this journal, it speaks to me in so many ways. It's so earthy. I too wanted to be an old lady living in the woods, growing my own herbs, and just watching the wildlife and birds all day. I want this journal so badly. I know the lady who receives it will absolutely love it. A truly marvelous work of art! Each one gets better and better! You go girl! And God bless & hugs.
I can understand why you love this book. It's enchanting to think of it as you in the future. Your fold out is mystical. I love it! I love the handmade paperclips, too.
Enchanting!!! That IS the perfect word for this journal. Another beautiful journal. Your videos never disappoint. Love it! Thank you for sharing with us. Austin, TX USA
Absolutely love your nature inspired journals with the beautiful dyed papers and acetate specimens ...really want to speak to you about ordering a journal for myself 😍😍😍
Donna Hanna thankyou so much Donna :) best way is through my etsy shop, although the waiting list is full for now, but I can speak to you properly about it over there x
The old lady who lives in the woods is me too so I enjoyed this book because it's my dream. Thank you Jibid. My own little garden journal is pretty much finished except for gold leaf. I have to go and buy some more because I can't find mine since I moved house. Moving really stirs the kettle. ha ha
I really love those raggedy edged papers and the home made paper clips. I am not fond of regular paper clips so these were a joy to see. I will keep that idea in the back of my mind in case I do another journal. Thanks again.
I had the sound cranked up to maximum but still could barely hear you. I don't know if it's from your end or mine. I will have to fish out those head phones too but I know where they are. ha ha
Susan Hamilton thankyou so much Susan for your comments, yes the sound is definitely my end, so sorry, i have tried several different things, no success so far but I haven't given up. It is better through a PC if this is an option for you. X
Wow Jibid I can see why this is your favourite. I think it is mine as well. It is as though it is so connected to the earth, so organic. Truly a heartfelt work of art. If and when you start to take orders again I would so deeply love to be on that list. This is absolute perfection. I hang on every detail, I have to pause each video several times to allow myself to drink it all in. I am such an admirer of your work. 😃🤗🤤(me drooling over every page)
Your edges of the pages are very special. I have them on old pictures. Could you please tell us how you make them? I love that book idea so much and i so would love to collect wildherbs and berries with you. I love that journal. It looks amazing.
Blimey oh Riley!! Love it....I am sat here smiling with my torn-edge envelopes made from book pages I made a few nights ago and these metal spiral jewelled hair decorations I found in a drawer that I never used and decided they could be used as a paperclip. Then I see your 'crazy' creations lol!!! 😊 I can only be grateful that I am remotely tuned into whatever superbness you are. I adore the thickness of your paper ....It's so feely and makes a different gentler sound...like blotting paper. Looking forward to seeing the rest, you're better than telly 😏
Oh! This is such a deep pleasure to see such an incredible artist at work and get a glimpse into your process. I love your sense of humour and humble demeanour! I'm an old lady who lives in the woods and this book captures the romance of this life so beautifully.
Oohhh that is gorgeous! Fabulous! Images, texture, details, just yummy!!!!! I am so jealous of your papers! But I'm starting with another Eco dyeing session and we'll see how it will turn out. :)
I am stunned. Simply perfect! Your care and creativity, sensitivity and lovely thought abounds. I love it- it could be my autobiography as well. You inspire me. What a treasure, you and your books. ❤️
So you Did do your paper clips!👍 no your not crazy! Too funny, now you made me even crazier with these, and I went and made a bunch of mini clothes hangers too! They are such a sweet addition, and oh do I adore those new stamps too! Ideas are swimming,,,🐰
HeartfeltHandcrafted thankyou so much xx not really, I just recommend getting some colours out, tea dye papers beforehand, make a big space, spread out and have fun. I do mine in the garden x
How can you bare to part with this?? I love it! And soooo much work and thought has gone into this. Love the pages with the tattered edges...would love to see a tutorial on those. TFS
Would love to see a video on how you made these ''real plant printing with inks'' ( 4:39) that took you days and days of work, I think it would really show the amount of work you put into each page. My plant stamping are mostly blobs, lol, not the lovely water color halo effect you get. I mean just the torn edges and staining takes forever.
eveny119 that's very sweet eveny, I'm afraid I don't have the physical setup for that kind of tutorials, not to mention the lack of time, my apologies x
Jibid, isn't it amazing the way we discover more and more about ourselves through this wonderful activity of journal making. I get the feeling that, as you move from one journal to another and focus your thoughts on the theme you not only draw on the practical experiences you already have but also delve behind each technique to find how everything comes together and one interesting discovery leads to another. Added to that is a seasoning of pure imagination :-)I adore the little herbal remedies for animals; straight out of Thomasina - have you ever seen that very old film? Oh how I would love to know where that purposeful little hare is going; he's on a mission that's for sure as he disappears into the magic world between the pages :-)
Angela Sweby totally true angela, very thoughtful as always, thankyou. I hope my crafting journey never ends, I will never stop learning from art, and from nature. I have never heard of Thomasina, though it is now on my list, thankyou! Xx
Reese DChatch thankyou very much Reese. I do use different weights, for this journal I used almost entirely 80 gsm, which gave the pages more paperiness, more like dried leaves, well that was the idea anyway :) I do often use thicker paper though, up to 120. Happy crafting to you! x
Jibid Neary thanks for replying, I want to try junk journalling myself and your creations are definitely unique. I've been debating between using 80 vs. 100 gsm for the writing papers and agree with you that 80 gsm does lend more of a 'paperiness' quality especially after coffee dyeing. I live in the Philippines and we don't have much craft paper and supply options from bookstores here, so I have to make my own. Thanks for showing us such inspiring work. Bless.
debra eaves Hi debra, they will be more 'crispy' and stalks will stiffen and be less floppy when you hold them upright. You can just kind of feel it between your fingers. They will feel more brittle and fragile, as though it would snap the petal or stalk very easily if you bend it. I would suggest an absolute minimum two or three weeks, but it really depends on the conditions and what you have picked, how fleshy are the plants etc. Just leave them longer than you think they need :)
What do you mean when you say plant" transfers"? I understand you might not want to give away all your wonderful techniques, of course. But if you care to share, I'm so curious. These weren't done by boiling, or is that what you mean by transfer? So beautiful. So much thought and care and creativity. Just amazing!
OMG!!! I love, love, love this journal, it speaks to me in so many ways. It's so earthy. I too wanted to be an old lady living in the woods, growing my own herbs, and just watching the wildlife and birds all day. I want this journal so badly.
