Nice idea but the replacement vents you buy from Mitsubishi already come reinforced. It's the dash warping that causes them to crack. Since your car is garaged you shouldn't have to worry.
Great. But I wouldn't anticipate a problem until many years just like what caused this issue for these cars to begin with. Regardless the "backbone" I added to the new vent covers have to be helping.
