    I just love it when anything that I’m fermenting starts the bubble! It puts a smile on my face!😊My homemade fermented salsa was almost creeping out of the jars this morning though!😭😂

    I'm relatively new to mead making and just recently did my first bottling with corks. I soaked the corks in warm water to make them softer and was able to put them in the bottle just using my hand. They appear to be well sealed.

    We don't make as much Wine as we used too, hubby still makes Ale.
    We equally use cork & flip topped bottles.
    I have some 10 Year Old Vikings blood Mead, & to be honest, I'm nervous to taste it. It may be good for Wallpaper remover though. Lol.
    I make Sloe Gins, for Christmas gifts, they're pretty in flip top bottles.
    TFS, & take care too everybody. ❤🙂🎅🎄

    I love chosen foods avocado oil. Now I’m going to start saving the bottles. It makes sense that the Italian brand wine bottles and jars are best quality. It’s seems the Italians make everything with pretty good quality.

      I agree. Even though I can and sometimes do make my own pasta, when it comes to purchasing it, I only buy Italian. Same goes now with Italian cheeses such as mozzarella and parmesan

      I have mentioned it in some of my wine making videos. It is a matter of just taste testing it at about the three week mark and then stopping it when it gets to where you want it. It of course still has alcohol so that is the deceptive thing, it can taste like a wonderful fizzy drink and you may not notice the alcohol but it is there!

    I made 3 gallons of elderberry mulberry wine. I let it ferment until no bubbles observed for a week. Measurement difference looks like @12% alcohol. However when I bottled up with corks and 2nd daybin botyles corks blew and hit the ceiling. I recorked and they blew again. I wanted a sweet wine and I love the taste but I can't get corks to stay in. Tried both rubber, silicon and wood corks. All blew twice

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is best in that case to use the bottles I showed in the video since corks will simply not hold if there is still sugar for the wine to work through.

      It would depend on if they are porous, if they are, then no. Unless you want y our wine to turn to vinegar, you do not want to store it in anything porous

    I had wine going, it bubbled nicely for the entire month. I strained it and then a few days later Hubs helped me rack it. We meant to do it again but life happened so it sat on my counter, not in direct sunlight and not warm. However now that Hubs and I recovered from the flu, I looked and it looked like scummy bubbles on top. Hubs thinks we need to rack it and then bottle it. My mead never bubbled but built back pressure I had to release periodically. After a month we strained it, racked it, put a lid on it and stuck it in the darkest coolest room in the house. It doesn't have scummy bubbles. But I wonder if I did something wrong and if the wine is okay to drink.

    Sorry for all the messages today, I’m benge watching your playlists…

    To use in Tinctures…
    Can moonshine be used in its place???
    Like wine can…
    Can making Moonshine be more cheaper ???
    And if so have you made moonshine???
    And if so do you have a video on it???
    Since I’m in Tennessee and moonshine is sold here… the prices are not cheap… but was wondering if it would be easy to make???
    Thank you

      If you are taking about using for tinctures, yes, you can use moonshine that it is often quite strong and would not be my choice for pretty much anything that I would use my homemade wine for. No, I have never made it and do not have videos on it

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, that is not at all what I mean and I would never add chemicals. It will stay fermented but to keep it from going further you want to bottle it up, that is all but it will still stay very fizzy and this is why you need quality bottles.

    I’m a couple of days shy of the three week mark on my first batch of apple cider/wine using your method with the homemade fermentation starter. It has been happily burbling along, and is still quite fizzy. I haven’t decided if I’m going to rack it early so it’s more of a cider, or if I’m going to let it keep going. I’m so tempted to taste it to see where it’s at! I’ve heard that using the dregs of the wine as a starter for the next batch will yield a higher alcohol level due to the yeast being more alcohol tolerant. Have you tried this at all? I’m going to try making mead next, so I’m curious.
