My DIY Preamp

  • The preamp design I used is based on this one from Rod Elliott: sound-au.com/p...
I made a few small changes and also designed my own board layout. I strongly recommend Rod's site if you are looking to get into audio electronics.
The preamp works splendidly and will be the heart of my control box project. I used high quality parts and that includes the opamps (OP275).
It has controls for bass, treble, volume and balance, plus a switch to turn off the tone controls.
The power supply board also has the bass shaker lowpass filter and output for the Hafler circuit speakers at the rear of my listening room.

I've no real interest in audio (after having my hearing damaged due to being blown up in Iraq) but I really enjoy these videos as they show your thought process and how you fix problems. Not many people can clearly explain things in this way. so I thank you for putting these videos out.
I do have a matched set of spendor bc1 speakers which I would like to dust off and maybe get set up one day (once I've sound deadened my living room.)
keep up the good work and thankyou again for sharing with us👍
p.s. I still think your pex? plumbing video is one of the best raw videos out there! man that must of been years ago!

This is just the right amount of geekerie for me! I love the insight into the design and layout.

Looking forward to the final build.
Q: I expect you will perform initial tuning with your PC, software, & MIC setup. For your fine tuning, will you be able to control the equipment you engineered and built with a remote control? If not, will you be able to temporarily move the preamp to your chair to dial it in? Otherwise you'll be left with a lot of back and forth.

John, are those dual op-amps ? If so I recommend using NE5532AP version from Texas Instruments.

Request if any one can help me with some advice : I have a Bose soundbar 700 . I have a Klipsch subwoofer SW350( self powered). I want to connect soundbar to the sub. I am trying to connect through wire. I am using 3.5mm RCA for soundbar our and RCA in for sub as provided. ..no luck. The sub seems getting sound as I can feel lightly on skin but can say that it's not working. Used the same RCA cable my phone's audio jack., I am getting a solid thump. Why I am not getting this from Bose soundbar. ? Need help here. I did use Bose app. The app is not helping to add the subwoofer. Nothing is detected.

I actually really like it! Was going to make a comment to compliment him on how he implemented it. Personally I can ignore it but also chose to read it if I want. I don't have problems hearing but I still appreciate it as extra. I'm a non native speaker and sometimes some technical words get thrown in and its nice to be able to read along then!
