The Caprice would have been on the borderline of having a driver's side airbag. The 72 leMans didn't have one and the lap and shoulder belts were two separate belts and not conducive for a thug in a car chase to buckle up even if he were inclined to do so.

I don't know if he's a luxury Coop or not but didn't I have the engine transmission. My dad talked me out of it. He was right it wasn't worth $150 back then.
If the Lemans driver had worn both the lap and separate shoulder belts, he probably wouldn't even have had a headache, but thugs aren't usually too safety conscious.

It is an A body, like a chevelle, gto, cutlass, etc. smaller than the older b-body, but very similar to the box caprice.
