I had been looking forward to this song dropping in full from several months prior when they released a short video of it, and even then just something about it hit a deep cord in me. Then when it finally came out and I listened to it I realized that almost every single time I do I end up tearing up a little at some point, every time. This is the kind of song that literally speaks to the part of one's soul that people tend to keep hidden far away from everyone else for many different reasons from one to the next. Citizen Soldier is easily one of the best 'therapy' style bands out there today.
I cried a lot when I listened to it when it came out that day in front of my boyfriend, couldn't wait when I saw it came out. We're from Spain and I translated it to him. He hugged me and was agreeing with the lyrics meanhwhile, I was still crying rivers. It's OK to cry, I can understand your reaction of feeling totally relatable, I feel you holding back your tears during the video and I feel bad and sorry for that because you can be yourself here with the people who specially watch your reactions and for whom YOU ARE NOT A BURDEN. You gents don't have to apologize for being human. We humans are emotional creatures and that's not a bad thing at all. When we acknowledge, feel, and process our emotions (as opposed to "get over it" "don't cry" etc) we become stronger. CS and many other artists are proof of this. They use their emotions and pour them into their art. Their songs wouldn't be so lifesaving if they lacked that emotion.

So many people feel this way, and it’s sad that we don’t have anyone to talk to listen to us and understand. Yes a lot of people say oh you can talk any time you need , well most aren’t there when you need and most aren’t ready to hear your hell. I’ve never had anyone ever to listen or understand me, and I’m used to it so I let it be ok. When I heard this song teased in his reel months ago, it hit hard and i listened to it over and over. When it finally came out I had it on repeat for hours. I’m not asking for anyone to listen , there’s too much past to tell. I know and hope one day I will find someone to tell my story, until then it will remain inside only to come out when I’m alone in the many tears I’ve cried, I could probably fill the oceans 3x over with them. Being an empath is also not helpful lol I hear alot of people’s stories ( which they just come up to me and just spill ) and I end up crying and hugging them, usually with a “ thank you for listening, I needed that” from them. I think I not only carry my “ burdens” but many others too. I’m happy Jake’s wife can see she’s not alone and how much those words impacted so many.
