    Well Auline has failed miserably. Apparently they have changed the design of the bag without telling anyone. It now has some shiny black material around the zippers that are ugly as hell. They have removed the 2 adjustment straps above your shoulder. As well removed the handle that was sown into the backpack. It also comes in one piece with all the hard sides installed. I was so excited to get it from RDQ today, then find the new stock has changed and feels like a cheap knockoff bag.

      They may have reverted the design change? The backpack on aulines website is advertised as "Zipper was not shiny any more, we changed it to Matt." I ordered one on june 4th from aulines website, it arrived today july 1st and seems like the original design. It has the Matt zippers, the adjustment straps above the shoulders are there and the handle to hold the bag. Although it did come with the hard sides installed which got bent in shipping so I've had to remove them to flatten them.

    Once you have an fpv bag, you'll never go without one again. It really is a solid investment that you won't regret. Been using a lowepro bpx2 for over 2 years, and I swear by it. Mud, dirt, rain, gravel, concrete... and still looks darn near brand new. Having everything ready in one place and ready to go is priceless.

      I still think the bpx2 is the best bag around. I can fit 2 goggles (DJI and fat shark), my radio and two 5 inch quads with props on, on the inside of it. It’s so neat and tidy and no need for things to be hanging off it.

    I bought mine in feb. and must say its held up. I have gone on hikes (3-4hrs) with it on and didnt feel any discomfort. I can fit my dji goggles, tango 2 pro and 1 5" quad with out props. and a battery bag with 10 1500mah batteries and some other equipment with out a issue. One a the things I love about it is that when Im all done and my quad is dirty, after it the dirt wipes off as if nothing happen. One of my only issues the straps hook into loops, and they can come off fairly easy unknowingly.

    I've had my Auline backpack for about a month now. It replaced my 4 year old tactical backpack (which stored everything I needed and more but with no organization). I can still fit up to 6 quads (if I want too) on the outside and all my other stuff in the inside well organized and snug to prevent things from moving around while walking/hiking to a spot. I love the top compartment for my Taranis X9D+ which fits perfectly and is protected well. The bag has a faux leathery texture to it, but it does not feel cheap. The zippers are fantastic and high quality and create almost a waterproof seal as you close them up, preventing dust, dirt and maybe a little moisture from getting in your backpack. I think the only negative thing about it is the price point at $190, but luckily my lady friend gave it to me as a gift using her stimulus check, and since I'm a gentleman I made sure I stimulated her as well. Yeah boy!! Looking forward to checking out the reviews for the 2 PyroDrone packs to be released soon, but I do believe the PyroDrone packs are geared more towards the professional filming pilot that needs to have all their stuff handy in one bag including the battery charging gear and what not as they travel. Thanks JB!

    I recently picked up a military molle backpack at a local Army Navy store for $55 and spent another $10 on over a dozen clips and hangers made for securing gear to the exterior straps...can also switch up mounting points super easily and add on smaller bags to the sides if necessary (I use a small one hanging off the side for my dead packs). Best FPV bag I've ever owned.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think this is a great approach if your philosophy is to have each thing in its own case. Like I wouldn't want to have my goggles and controller rattling around loose in a military style backpack. But if you put them in their own case then I think it makes sense.

    One thing I really need is to keep the kwads INSIDE the bag. To keep them away from snow and mud when i'm in the mountains, to keep them away from looks when i'm in the city. I don't often fly next to my car.. and if I do i, like on a race day, I just put all my stuff in big bags and don't care so much.
    As a cameraman for over 15 years and camera bag geek, i am using my camera bags for FPV.
    When I need to carry more than the fpv gear (ie : ski skins, camera, lens, water, food...) The f-stop is obviously the best, with the small insert. The bag from EVOC is great too, and with foldable props i can put 3 kwads in the top compartment ! The incase works good too, fits 1 kwad inside and looks good - but isn't so good for hiking. I have two bags from Lowepro that are similar, the 450 and the Whistler.. They are huge but somehow i can't put more stuff than on my Evoc. Finaly the one i'm using the most is the Evoc when i do hike&fly or mountainbike&fly :)
    Well, enough blabla, good to see they are thinking about fpv bags, too bad they want us to put the kwads outside instead of a pocket where the straps are.

      I have the Auline backpack, and to protect/hide the drones from view or the elements I just put on the rain cover that it comes with over the backpack. Nobody can tell that I'm carrying quads, unless you are with other fpv pilots. This gives me more space for spare parts or other stuff inside the backpack.

    Forgot to mention that the bag itself and zippers are water proof, only need the rain cover if you carry quads on the outside. Jerry also is super with customer service. You get a reply with in 24 hours. I am happy so far. Solid bag.

    This looks pretty chincy compared to the other $200 packs on the market. I've been 100% satisfied using the Betaflight bag for a year, no damage, and the Pitstop Pro's are also top notch (lowepro too, for that matter). This looks like it's probably worth $100-120 and being sold for almost $200. JB barely got this one outta the bag and setup and it's already tearing up...love how the other bags have a place to store the rain cover, and tool organizers built in. I'm eager to see the ETHiX backpack

    For hiking with a quick bit of flying I use the camelbak sparta. I usually just carrying my radio and goggles and battery bag and the quad is strapped to the mollie web. It has the "I have your back" lifetime warranty. For flying and a bit of hiking I'll use the torvol. Torvols padding for your back absorbs alot of sweat for hard hikes in the sun and it's hard to wash off when it dries.

    I have been using my PitStop Pro for about a year and still think it is the bomb. The Lipo Bag is a must have makes life much easer and safer. I like the Tx storage in the Torvol nice and safe. The Torvol strap design is much better. Torvol has the working mat and small screw holder. If they priced this at $125 they would have something but not as a direct composition. Did you use the hip belt the entire time you were wearing the pack? The hip belt is intended to distribute the weight off of the shoulders and your broken seam looks to be on the sternum strap (close to shoulders). In backpacking, the common order to tighten a pack is hip belt, shoulder straps, load lifters and sternum strap last; this order helps you get the best weight distribution. This is to say a split seam may be a result of uneven load distribution. Even so, It is not a good sign that the sternum strap seam split on day one.
    One day I will have enough gear to justify such a purchase; when that time comes, I will be informed. Many thanks JB!

    I had to return the first one I got. RDQ exchanged it for me due to fraying around the front compartment where the zippers go around the corners and chew up the lining. The pad that goes in the front compartment is a tiny bit too big, I trimmed down the corners by about an 1/8" and it now opens and closes more easily without munching on the zipper lining. So big hips straps is awesome.... makes you wanna trek longer... less fatigue... higher the trek... get some poles and you’ll go further...10% of your weight for each...that way would be the full happy geared geek trekker pilot ;)

    Why would you expect it to be terrible? I use an old Patagonia backpack with skateboard straps and side pouches; couple 5" on the outside, controller case, goggle case, laptop, spares, tools, camera stuff, micros, even an extra passenger goggle, on the inside, works great.
    I kinda wanna call BS on the wearing it for a whole half hour thing lol.

  • @narr0wm1nd49

    What about 'camera' backpacks? It seems they provide custom divders and outside straps. The only real FPV is a secure 'controller' sized compartment. Given the number of camera bags there must many that have a similar compartment. The next question is if the camera bag market is bigger are the prices better?

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Camera bags can work well for this application. The ability to strap quads to the outside and the dedicated controller focus is something that distinguishes FPV bags.

    • @narr0wm1nd49
      @narr0wm1nd49 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JoshuaBardwell I take your point on straps. There are camera bags with straps. I would suggest one with molle on the outside where you can add your own straps would be best. That way you can choose strap buckles you like and replace them easily should they break. Overcoming one of your review points on poor buckle choice.

    • @SchmityFPV

      I like the militaryish bags from Walmart. I had a URUAV V1 quad bag and a RDQ quad bag and own neither of those now and went back to a more traditional backpack but military/hiking inspired. $25 and I personally like it better then actual drone backpacks. Guess I haven’t owned big name brands but those also look wayy too huge for me anyways. I’d have no problem bringing 6 5” quads with me too.
