    Its definitely your camera 📷 Overexposure is the result of too much light hitting the film or, in a digital camera, the sensor. Overexposed photos are too bright, have very little detail in their highlights, and appear washed out. There must be a setting not right try default the camera settings.. love the videos very entertaining

    Tim, professional videographer here, make sure your project timeline is interpreted in Rec. 709 instead of Rec. 2100, then make sure all the footage you import into the project is interpreted as Rec. 709, that way when you render the mp4 in h.264 the colors and brightness don’t change. Telltale that this is what’s happening is the end video doesn’t look the same as it does in the editing program. Rec. 2100 is the default interpretation for h.265/hdr footage, so by interpreting footage as Rec. 709 you’re forcing the program to see it how it should (when the project and the clips are interpreted different it looks like this…)

      I was thinking it might be a HDR-related issue. You seem to know what's going on. Does this mean that TH-cam doesn't handle HDR very well? I mean, is there no option to encode in h.265 when uploading to YT?

    • @MrPougatch
      @MrPougatch 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Arexodius It seems like youtube is currently considering any video files encoded in an HDR-compatible format as actual HDR, no matter what the actual color range of the video is. So then their player decodes this video as if it's HDR, effectively increasing contrast ratios.

    Tim, here is what is happening with your camera. You notice the dash is exposed properly when you are pointing at the interior, but when the camera is looking outside, the exposure is dominated by the amount of darker surfaces in the cab. This leaves the outside brightness overexposed due to the light meter being overly influenced by the darker interior. You could put the camera on the dash and all the outside would be exposed more accurately. There might be also a setting which would let you choose the angle of view that the camera monitors. I hope this is correct and helpful to you. Not criticizing at all.

      I also thought it was the HDR and TH-cam compression that making it funky. I did notice that he do have the HDR on but I could be wrong. Also he need a ND filter it will solve 70% of the brightness.

      Also depends on what setting the meter is set for. Not sure what Sony language but canon it’s evaluative where the light meter takes the average of the whole area of the scene. I’m no video guy I’m a stills shooter but the light meter and exposure work the same. Have you tried an ND filter or even a polarizing filter as that will give you a stop to a stop and a half of exposure.

    Camera is focusing on the interior of the cab and adjusting light accordingly…which blows out anything outside. The only way to fix it is adjusting in manual mode to a happy medium where the outside and inside light are acceptable light. There’s almost no way auto can adjust both. Maaaaybe try dialing in the focus to a wider range. I always had mine set in on wide range but I had to constantly adjust the exposure even on wide focus.

    • @earshottank22
      @earshottank22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sensor on the fancy camera is so much bigger and lets in so much more light than say a cell phone but on the flip side they are not as user friendly as a cell phone or an action camera. It takes practice and experimenting with settings to get it dialed in, I watched HOURS of TH-cam videos to get my settings dialed in even remotely close. You’ll get there, keep up the cool video content! 🤘

So many people are in such a big hurry anymore, it's go, go, go and they don't think about putting something in a danger for someone else . The way that I see it anymore is slow down and enjoy life a little . Tell Steve, that I think him for his service to our country for so many years, my dad was a World War 2 veteran and went through a lot during his time overseas.

It just makes your skin like glow like goldfish color but it does this to the whole picture not just you. I hope that helps you figure out what we are seeing. When you paused there tbe third time it looked like the screen was in that position. Well here's the time stamp on this video 0:32. Now imagine your face having that color along with everything else being off. It's either something on the editing or it's your camera messing up. But it's there I noticed that on the first video it happened on I think two or three videos before this one currenly playing and it's pretty harsh at times lol its justs annoying is all.

    Steve, sorry you never made it to my backyard with you KC-135 days. Plattsburgh AFB, in Northern NY, home of the 380th refueling wing, which closed its doors in 1995. We miss the planes, but the runway still exists, as it is one of longest runways in North America, and was one of the emergency landing sites for the space shuttle when it was in service. Yes the vets are good people with lots experience and hard working life when they served. Thank You Tim, for hiring these guys.

    Yeah man, those automatic freightliners with the DD15's have shit for power in these bigger fleets honestly. I work for a mega too, and we have ISX cummins (worst cummins ever but better than a paccar) and they tune these motors down so bad man, the power is just awful. But at least I can out pull most freightshaker cascadias on hills, the big carrier ones lol.

    Tim when looking out the window it's nothing but a big old Glare if you look at the dash board it's clear you might look to see if there's a setting for sun light to dim the lens just like on these knew cell phones when videoing or taking a picture where there's a glare there's a setting on the phone of the picture and video side that will get rid of your video problem, if what your using doesn't have that you need to invest in one that does

    First trip I made across the mountains in West Virginia going to Detroit…. I throw my buddy in the floor while he was sleeping in the bunk. Maxed the electronic pedal out on the Pete we was driving and couldn’t get it out of gear to work the jacks to slow her down. Worked the shit out the brake pedal and got her slowed down enough to pull out of high gear…. Never made that mistake again.

Would love to have drove for Gentry 20 yrs ago. Love the videos. You were talking about $$$ coolers. I have an Acopower Lion Cooler. Over $800. Has a battery. Can go below 0.

    As an example: Go to 12:00 and look at Steve's face. It's waaay over exposed and so is the outside landscape. Since the outside is the largest influence for aperture settings it should cause the inside of the truck to be a lot darker. It's NOT! Unless the light is being read from a very small area of his dark beard (which is probably the case). Change your settings.
    There are usually two to three aperture settings when using Auto Exposure (AE) - Spot, Averaging and Center Weighted Averaging (different names for different brands). Some cameras only have only two; Spot and Averaging. If you have "Center Weighted" Averaging, use that because it reads like a "Spot" but a larger spot like an area of the center of your image. This will make it less radical when you move the camera around or jiggle it. If you don't have "Center Weighted" Averaging just use Averaging when you are shooting this kind of scene. Or, just shoot Interior shots or exterior shots and be done with it. It is not fun and very distracting to look at a scene like this one because there is nothing to look at. You might as well not even have a camera at all.
    I'm not trying to be rude or hostile. I watch your videos for the travel AND the Truck operation, repair and business. I really don't like traveling down the highway backwards, missing the scenery and looking at someone's face. Especially if their face looks like a ghost. I'd rather see where you are gong than watch your beard bounce up and down while you talk.🥸

    Moving oversize and overlength loads in Australia at night is not correct, they may move them through large cities at night due to reduced traffic flow but on open highway I have only ever seen it done during daylight hours. Road works in major cities is done at night during reduced traffic flow times which I think isa great idea.

    Thanks for another video that takes me back to my driving and grease monkey days. I grew up in Atlanta. I live in Winder, now. And do not miss that Atlanta traffic. I'm almost 67, now. If I hadn't lost my left eye to Glaucoma, I would still be driving. Miss those W900's and 379's. Actually started in an old Ford Cabover with a 318 Detroit. After that, I worked my way up to an International Transtar II, 13-speed with underdrive. 290 Big Cam Cummins. Although your videos make me sad, sometimes, because I miss it, they never fail to put a smile on my face. Thanks for that, Brother. Also, tell Steve I said thanks for his service. I tried all the branches of the Military when I was younger. But, they wouldn't take me because I was a bad boy back then. If you have a record, you can forget it. Such was my childhood. Drunk parents, fighting, beatings...You get the idea. But, there were some good times. And I can relive them through you. Love it. ;-)

    I was towing an oversized boat to the Miami boat show years ago in a construction zone and A black box truck went down the side of the boat. Left him with a nice white stripe down the box. When I got to the show we inspected the boat and only had to sand and polish the rubrail to had black paint in the screws lol.

    Good Video Tim, I remember Atlanta Olympics, had to deliver a load and man that was some craziness, with traffic and construction and detours. Then a time limit for going into downtown Atlanta as certain times early 2 AM until like 10 AM and if you didn't get out of downtown. You had to wait until late after 5 PM to reopen truck routes to leave. Other wise you get a ticket with a heavy fine and would be police escorted to a truck stop. Which I was used to with downtown Chicago cold storage as traffic sucks after 11 AM. Just in a traffic jam. So I usually just stay over and leave at 5PM. And start my run to the East coast.
