      You bet! I think this book has become a part of the photobook canon, so I'm happy to share.

    The golfing photo in front of the tv is one of the absolute best.

      Oh absolutely. I think that's one of the first photographs I saw that walked the line between humor and sentimentality. What a rare combination.

    I've been looking for something just like this. Thank you so much! I wouldn't be able to afford or view the book during this pandemic in any other way. Cheers!

      Hi Peter, and thank you for watching! I love doing these for the exact reason you just shared. It allows people to have the book experience if the can't buy or find a place to check it out. Happy to hear you've enjoyed these.

      I find his work so important. Its very photographic in the traditional sense, but cuts to very deep themes and questions. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the review. I was drawn to the turkey photo also when I first saw it. I was lucky enough to meet Larry briefly. He went out of his way to stop by my house on his way to a lecture he was giving.

      Oh that must have been a great experience. I wish I would have come across his work while he was still living. His sincerity and down-to-earth demeanor communicates in his interviews and writings.

      Hi Kenny! It's great to virtually meet you and I'm thankful you watched my video on Larry's book. I had no idea that was you jumping through the hoop or that his book was being made into a play so thank you very much for sharing. I'd love to chat sometime to get your perspective on the book. I hope all is well, and I enjoyed watching your guitar videos.

      I just saw the play, Pictures From Home, today on my 67th birthday...Very moving, interesting, insightful and of course entertaining - these are some of finest theatre actors around!. As a Kenny who grew up in the Valley myself, it seemed very personal also (my grandparents moved to Palm Springs for instance). I was looking on the internet for more background, I found this video, which I very much enjoyed watching - and besides strongly recommending the play, I was going to point out that it was Kenny Sultan jumping through the hula hoop, which is included and is an important part of the play, but then I saw that you. Kenny, had already done that. I would like to hear what you Kenny thought of the play - have you seen it yet? Perhaps you are going to the opening night on February 9th. I hope the play is successful and will eventually make it California.

      @@kenlabowe I'm glad the video came across in your search after seeing the play! I love that the book has the power and resonance for it's translation to a play. I'm interested too in hearing Kenny's thoughts on the play.

    Hey, love this review. keep it up. I've been trying to see this book for so long but cannot get my hands on it, due to it being super pricy in my country and hard to get even. To be honest i thought i was gonna mute the review and just watch it but find your insights intereseting.

      Hi Agustín, I really appreciate the feedback and I'm glad the review was useful for you, especially sine you can't get your hands on a physical copy right now. The narration is to keep me curious, and I'm happy it's interesting to others as well!

    Do you search for signed books? And how do you find them?

    • @ThePhotobookReview
      @ThePhotobookReview  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a great question. If I new book I want to purchase has the option for a signature that's 5-10 dollars more, I'm happy to buy it. However, sometimes publishers offer signed editions that are double the price, and these I typically pass on. I buy most of my books at photo conferences, photobook fairs or used book stores. When I come across a privately owned photobook or art book store, I'm always happy to buy 1 or 2 copies of something.
