Fantastic movie. The classical huangmei opera is still very popular after so many decades. Simply amazing how ivy ling po acts her part so beautifully. Her graceful movements are in complete tandem with the music and song and the expression of the meaning of such movements. This is perfection. All the best wishes to the beautiful couple and may be blessed with many, many, many more years of good health and great happiness.

The Disney Mulan is terrible. Her family is very toxic and bullies her all the time, everyone is full of misogyny and Mulan is suffering from the Stockholm syndrome. Why would she fight for society that treats her like trash? And why would she fall in love with someone that treats her like trash, doesn't love her and is very misogynistic himself? The Disney Mulan doesn't make any sense.
Thank you so much for uploading the movie! This was so beautiful! There was no excessive drama involved, and I loved how they treated her the same even after she revealed herself to be a woman. It was so wholesome to watch! And even the early scenes where she goes as disguised with her family knowing about it and not just mindlessly running away in the middle of the night without informing anyone. So much about it was realistic and made much more sense than any other mulan movies. I was hoping they would show a scene of them being married though🙈 But overall it was such a subtle, realistic and beautiful movie! Loved every second of it.
The scene in the end when she appears as herself in front of her brothers-in-arms, and their surprise but at the same time delight at her ruse, and all done opera style, was both joyful and moving to watch.
This movie had been shown many times in Malaysia cinemas and once on TV. Also DVDs for sales. Like a Chinese saying "bai kan bu yan" - never tired of watching it endlessly! Tks for uploading it!
I'm always cry when I see Ivy Ling Po's films! Such a special star ! When she plays a male character, it's more interesting, more handsome , make me feeling deeper as a real man! Like her so so much!
I still prefer her as herself..she is pretty and should not always act in Male roles.. She and Jin Han look so good together as on and off screen couple👍

These two objects speak of volumes that need no words to express. You must be well verse in Chinese allusions to get the meaning of their eternal pledge for each other. Chinese pride themselves on being subtle. Cultural differences between the west and the east. Just look at Western & Chinese paintings.

This movie has solid songs, solid writing, and appears to be far more accurate to the original ballad. I would rather Disney used this movie if it wanted to market itself on accuracy instead of making the 2020 Mulan. The 1998 version is superior to it in every way, and I would have rather seen Lady General Hua Mulan than the 2020 garbage of a film. Kudos to whoever uploaded these seven videos! While I may not understand a single word of Chinese, I love this playlist almost as much as if it had been in English.

Study of any language does not entitle one understand its culture but a key to unlock its mystery :) My command of the Chinese is very poor compared to my understanding to its culture. What I learnt are from western sources. I really miss these classics. They may not be as exciting and seductive as the newer versions. However these new versions pales in comparison to the subtlety of the cultural inferences suggested in these classics. I am glad you too enjoy these movies

Disney version is geared toward kids. A lot of the plots don’t make sense to adults lol, and not enough respect to the original story.

凌波民國53年跟金漢主演花木蘭，金漢是新人，出次演戲差一點被換掉，幸虧有凌波教授，隔天才有機會，可能是緣分，現在重看金漢的演技算還好……
金漢演出花木蘭時.還是邵氏的新人，但後來在＂船＂和＂藍與黑＂就不可同日而語了，本來亞洲影展最佳男配角是金漢在"藍與黑＂中角色定位，只因執意和凌波結婚了，只安子被取消而後被邵氏冷凍多年。
