  • We visit Namibia, the second country of our African journey. We enter Namibia through Mata Mata and headed west visiting Aus, Kolmanskoppe and Luderitz. We then traveled north camping at Namtib, Sesriem and Swakopmund and Spitzkoppe. We visit Diaz Point, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei, we also find wild horses and camp at beautiful spots in Namibia.

    Juba, your photography and editing are truly superb. I think on a par with Andrew St Pierre White and that is saying something. By way of a suggestion, I wonder how you feel about limiting the music and becoming more multi-dimensional and interactive? So, have music at moments as transitions, but also build in moments where you hear that beautiful Landy diesel motor idling. And the crunching of BF Goodrich tires on gravel. What about the "geknetter" of flames licking dry wood. Enhance the incredibly beautiful vista photography by displaying it in "reverential silence", with just the natural sounds included in the shot. In my opinion, sometimes the canned music detracts from the awe and epic-ness (is that a word?!) of the subject you are filming. Natural sound can enhance the shot, whereas the music can detract from it. But Juba, take a bow, your work is really, really good! Thank you!

      Hi Grant, thanks for your feedback, I appreciate you taking the time and thanks for the compliment. I agree with you on the sound. Unfortunately while filming I did not focus on my sound recordings, I wish I did. You will hear there are many of my videos where I talk to the camera with wind noise, so I am trying to make the best of what recordings I have. You might have noticed I used some sound recordings in my Kgalagadi episodes. I will try to improve on this going forward. For the rest of this Africa series, it will be mostly background music as my sound recordings are pretty poor. I did focus more on sound recordings in Botswana and the Kruger. Lets see how it goes. Thanks for watching!

      @@JubasJourney although I fully agree with @Grant's comments and suggestions, as an amateur video editor I can relate to the challenges of blending handheld vista's, drone and cellphone footage and then be mindful of the ''moments' where ambient sounds can greatly enhance the emotion of the video. Suggestion - watch several of Edward Bath's videos from Botswana. Despite being fairly young, he is extremely talented with adding in natural moments into the story to give you the natural feel and immerse the viewer into the setting. I ride adventure and dirt bikes and when I edit, I have to intentionally blend leka exhaust sounds with suitable music, even the occasional panting at a demanding crossing. It adds to a visceral viewers experience.

    I visited Namibia (or South West Africa as it was back then) very briefly, as a teenage boy, in the mid-80s.... it made enough of an impression on me that it is on my "bucket list" of places I'd love to spend 6 months exploring if I ever get the chance. This video has not changed my mind, it's just reinforced my desire to see this place properly.

    Hey Juba, your videos have been fantastic. I have so enjoyed following your journey. Two things, Jackie is an absolute gem of a wife, love how she sheds a tear at the end of each chapter of your lives - shows she has loved every moment. Secondly, I hate how much is compressed into each video - it means it'll end too soon!! You have a real talent, I have thoroughly enjoyed your journey so far. Make it last!!

    Hi Juba,
    Thanks for sharing this amazing journey. Loved everything I have watched so far, finally taken a break to comment, and get some coffee.
    Reading some of the other comments, I must aggree that the music is a bit loud, having said that, I loved everything else.
    I hope that one day I too can produce something even remotely as good as what you guys have done.
    So before my next rip to Namibia in 2022, I will practicing using my drone and GoPro.
    Once again Thanks for these inspiring and amazing videos.
    So, now I will continue to watch the rest of this episode and everything else on your trip.

    By the way Juba, you didn’t show us anything from Swakopmund, your video stopped at the Kuiseb canyon bridge and the next scene was the Spitzkopje, any reason for it?

    Juba I am planning a trip to the south of Namibia as well after lockdown that should have happened last month. I got some nice ideas from you especially drone angles at Spitskoppe. I was there a few times in early 2000's but not too many photos and, no drone. Your Landy has lotsa character. Given all the hiking to do at Spitskoppe, would you recommend 1 night & one whole day or, at least 2 nights there?

    • @JubasJourney
      @JubasJourney  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would do at least 2 nights, if you like hiking and climbing you should allow sufficient time to explore. I did not get to all the spots I wanted to.
