Cheers Count Buckules, I haven't stopped listening to this and it brings a tear to my eye each time. Nice one Buckles and massive tearful hats off to Ms Marling. One of the songs that will define exactly where I was when I first heard it. I wonder where I shall be the last time I hear it. Thank you.
I first got into song for our daughter and at the time I had no children but I really wanted them and than 4 years later and my wife gave me 2 beautiful children and now I have patterns in repeat to cry about . Haha What a beautiful song writer she is. I think it’s so important for this kind of music to exist. Also I’m somewhat of a singer song writer and guitarist and I just want to learn her songs. She plays guitar so beautifully.
Giving me Tom Waits vibes. She has been my favourite musician since I was 14 (27 now) and each successive album speaks to me more profoundly as I get older.
She's been around 15 years or so now. In my opinion her sophomore album is still her best . Some really wonderful tracks eg "Blackberry Stone" imo the best thing LM has ever recorded.
@keithbate9405 Blackberry Stone was from her sophomore album "I Speak Because I can (2010)." Her debut was "Alas I cannot Swim (2008)." And you are right her second album is still her best, but all of her albums are wins in my book. She's amazing
One of the most arresting, skillful songs I've ever heard - and I've heard pretty much everything Mme. Marling has ever released. This is heart-breakingly beautiful. Thankyou, Laura. x
Is this a cover? I feel like I've heard it before but maybe not. I checked if it was Leonard Cohen but no. If it's an original it owes a lot to Cohen. Beautiful in its own right though
"I'd like you not to call again" is such a simple, killer line that cuts really deep. A great performance of a song.
gets me every time
So beautiful, so much Cohen in here, yet completely owning it with her style.
I had the exact same thought, this has peak Leonard Cohen vibes, I absolutely love it.
This is a masterpiece. The best song I've heard for a long time.

most beautiful song and album i've listened to this year

I hear more Leonard Cohen than Tom Waits. But both are amazing and Laura has truly studied the greats.
Lots of Nick Drake in there too. Beautiful
grown up with Laura, loved her since we were teens and she always captures my heart ♥️
Brilliant performance. It's evocative of her performance of New Romantic that was also on Later...
I can’t believe I’ve never heard her before, love this! Been listening to her music all weekend since Jools
Make sure to check out "Night After Night" at the McKittrick Hotel.
@@tvrbob8681 will do thanks

@@tvrbob8681and the live version of Pray for Me at the Sage March - haunting and beautiful
This is basically the soundtrack to every regret I've ever had in my life. It absolutely floors me every time.
perfect lighting perfect song

She is undoubtedly the GOAT of Folk 👑👌
I remember hearing Laura in 2010 for the first time, she was very young
Laura’s lyrics are under appreciated. They’re softly spoken whistles with a warm voice unembraced.
What a great artist - songwriting, singing, guitar playing! Got almost all of her albums.
So good. Just so very good.
I love her
Cette chanson me bouleverse et je pleure à chaque écoute. La grâce à l'état pur.
Love this
folk queen Laura 👏
Beautiful Laura!!!! 👏👏👏👏
Wonderful.
This is going to be such a great song when she finishes the lyrics.
hahaha funny joke!!
ahahaha 💯
😂😂😂😂
Phenomenal
Okay but how cool does that 2:19 guy look?
Laura Marling brought me here
She didnt look down once at the chords shes was playing. Thats how good she is.
Has to be Leonard Cohen inspired 🤔 Absolutely love it 👍
Sounds almost exactly like Avalanche by Leonard Cohen...
I hear the resemblance that's for sure 👍 @@4ryanc
She's using his signature guitar picking pattern yeh
Very good 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Paul Simon style guitar playing
Great
Adam Buxton brought me here
same, and it was beutiful
Same same
Same here. Walking down the beach listening to the podcast listening to this was ethereal, tears I eyes. Thanks Count Buckules.
Same and it's glorious! Thanks, Adam Buxton! -an East Anglian Podcat
Yes! And Child of Mine broke me
Bit o' Dylan in there too, fabulously her own though.
Beautiful! Really looking forward to the release of the new album, "Patterns in Repeat". (25/10/24).
Cool. Very.
This version of just the guitar and voice is so much better than the record version with strings
❤ worth the bbc license fee? ❤
This is a tough song to listen too 😢
Somethin' somethin'
This gen's Leonard Cohen
como le doy mucho mas que un like?
Paul Simon vibes.

Try kathy's song by paul simon. Yes beautiful in its own right.
Yep, could be a Leonard Cohen song without the la la la and missing lyrics. Does Caroline Know? [see Talk Talk]
Laura please sing my song Darkness to light James fagan on TH-cam you are one of the greatest voices make my song heaven please,
Nylon strings and a bit o' tremolo. Can't go wrong.
Definately born too late.
It’s basically Martha by Tom Waits.
Another wonderful song.
Basically, it's not at all
