It was 8 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of -10 here when the blood moon bled. I watched it for 30 seconds. Thanks for doing this👍

That's a great question! It inspired me to create a video simulation using the Stellarium software. Check it out here: th-cam.com/video/i-o6BAbVNsg/w-d-xo.html

I watched the lunar eclipse this morning, too! In the very west of Germany, where I live, we had clear skies and freezing cold temperatures - but a nice view of the lunar eclipse. Very cool, indeed! Thanks for filming!

What a delight to wake to. Glad you had clear skies! From my vantage point, the eclipse featured the cutest rainbow!

Awe, thank you for this! I was looking at the blood moon from Texas and I thought about your total eclipse adventure. So glad you filmed this. It was cold here, it must even be colder there. Thanks!

Great job filming the lunar eclipse! I watched it up north in my area of Northern Michigan. It was a little cold outside with below zero temps.

That night was crazy, I actually saw a moon event for the first time. Few years ago the clouds were always blocking the view of the moon whenever the moon event is about to happen.

Reminds me when I was out delivering newspapers all night for over five years and saw a couple of those within a month of one another. The first one was announced, but I never saw the second one even mentioned. It's a pretty awesome sight.

Nicely done, as always. Quick question, what camera/lens set up were you using, the GH5 with 100/300mm? I ask because your listed Sony lenses seem too short to handle the job. Thanks!

Around 11;40 PM (23;40) CST, I witnessed the moon turning red and I used a phone to take a picture of it. It was barely good. (had to use ";" instead because it turns into a link. Ex: 0:12)

But I did get better results, just cant produce as fast as you guys. Kudos..

Can anyone explain which sphere was moving and which sphere was standing still?
I'm trying to get it, but I just can't understand what just happened tonight.

    • @AdventureArchives
      @AdventureArchives  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

As best as I understand it, the earth, sun, and moon are aligned such that the moon falls within the shadow earth casts. During a partial lunar eclipse, it falls into the penumbra, the outer layer of the shadow, and it dims. But during a total eclipse, it passes through the umbral layer, and light from the sun refacts around the earth and casts the moon in a dull red light.
So as an eclipse is happening, that's the moon moving into the shadow of the earth. And then where in the sky and what time you see it is affected by where you are on the half of the planet that can see the eclipse.

    (And) they've got the ultimate
    Power in the universe, and
    Before it gets better it's
    Getting worse
    It's not a satellite, but
It can light up the sky
    When it blows,
    Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!
    It's round! But
    It's not a moon (it's not a moon)
    It's not a moon (it's not a moon)
    It's not a moon
