    At the 3:30 mark for taking out the ball joint, I could not get that out to save myself. This was on a 2011 Sienna with 160,000 miles. I spent over an hour banging on it and it was stuck hard. I torched it with heat and still would not budge. I used a Harbor Freight #63684 Tie Rod and Pitman Arm Puller that I already had on hand and it fit perfectly and I got that darn bolt loose in 1 minute. I hope this helps someone else.

    I can't believe how little rust there is. We have a 2005 Sienna in Nova Scotia, Canada, and it's COVERED in rust. Like, every inch of every piece of metal under there.

    Very well done! Great video! Transparent step by step orientation. Most of us here to watch this video bc we were shocked with the Toyota dealer price of $1700-$2000 for the job get done. Love the video!

    Thank you for making this video, your step by step explanation (with bolt size) made this an even easier job than it seems to be. I was quoted $1K today to replace both control arms, no way! I’m not made out of money and I have four young children to feed. Feeling ever so confident now!

    I don't recommend using aftermarket lower arms, I replaced TRQ brand lower arms last year and less than a year later the lower arm rubber boots broke in half and I had to buy original lower arms.

    I watched your video to find out what size impact sockets we need. My husband's coworker is going to lend us his impact wrench (makes it easier with our super rusty vehicle) and impact sockets, but he needs to know what sizes we need. I heard you say 10mm, 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, 22mm. Are there any that I missed?

    What would happen if one of the ball joints was to come out? Im driving a 2004 with the original ones. Can't grease them because they are factory sealed. The van is making a sound similar to when the struts, upper bearing makes when they are worn out. It sounds like dry ball bearings cluncking while stopping and accelerating and turning, but not when going over potholes. Im not sure if the cluncking sound is coming from the upper strut ball bearing or the control arm ball joints.

    What model year was this Sienna? My wife has a 2004 edition and the first time I removed and replaced the same side lower control arms, I struggled even with a lift and and a jack! Not really sure whether our Sienna had the same motor mount support as this model, but if it has, as after 5 years I need to replace again the same arm, it would be nice to remove it the way you showed it. Thanks.

    What brand was the lower control arm you used?

    • @raymondsoto6754
      @raymondsoto6754 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Mevotech. not a very good brand. not even moog control arms come with a high quality bushing. moog also comes with a lower quality ball joint that cannot be greased because it does not have the grease fitting like their problem solver line does.. Beck Arnley is the best OEM equivalent. the rubber bushing will last you a very long time, very high quality. but they do not come with a ball joint. that's were i would buy a premium moog ball joint with the grease fitting for you to grease. I've tried them all, Beck Arnley all the way.
