    9:25 I disagree, yes the institution of slavery had been in existence since time immemorial but enslavement during those times was different
    1. being a slave was not hereditary i.e the status of a slave did not automatically transfer from parent to child.
    2. In many cultures, slaves were still able to earn small wages, gather with others, marry, and potentially buy their freedom.
    3. Peoples of darker skin were not automatically enslaved or considered slaves
    All of which was the opposite for the transatlantic slave trade.
    European colonialists literally invented the concept of race and the notion that black people were genetically inferior and hence could be treated like property instead of people in order to to justify their particular nasty brand of slavery.
    They knew what they were doing was wrong. They just didn't care. After all there was money to be made and destiny to manifest (i know this particular ideology came after the founding fathers) 🙄
