So refreshing to see a young adult not glued to his cellphone and not protesting something or spending his time being offended every time someone says something he doesn't agree with or hurts his feelings. This young man is being constructive with a purpose, and his initiative and work ethic he has shown here is something to be admired. He works hard, has great self control, and hasn't uttered a curse word the entire series. I know there are good kids and young adults out there, but they are completely overshadowed by the ones who make all the noise for attention and for all the wrong reasons, want everything handed to them because they feel entitled, and are often not disciplined and even rewarded for bad behaviour, and those are the ones that the media always have the spotlight aimed at. I wish you nothing but the best in life and everything you do, and I have no doubt that you will accomplish great things on your own through hard work, your great attitude, and your moral compass aimed in the right direction. As a parent myself, I know your parents are very proud of you and have obviously done a great job raising you. Can't wait to see the next video and the finished product. You are years ahead of your time in knowledge, and I know everything will turn out great!

Watching Dylan reminds me of when my little brother and myself watching my dad in his garage. He was in his glory when he was welding and wrenching on his old cars. He loved and restored many 1957 chevys. A few 55s but he loved his old 57s. It takes me back over fifty years. Dylan keep on trucken. Will catch up with you in episode 9.

Hey Dylan, just found your channel and have to say I'm very impressed with the work you are doing here. When I was your age, some 30 odd years ago, this was my true passion. Back then, 66-72 muscle cars were a dime a dozen and not nearly as rotted out as the ones you are bringing back to life. Great job with the videos, please keep them coming!

I was 14 and living with my best friend and his stepdad was a mechanic. Had a machine shop on the property and was one of the smartest guys Ive ever known. He was actually on a pitcrew in the 1955 or something indy 500, which I found out only recently, he never told me. Anyways, I am now 50, and the biggest regret I have in my life was being a typical lazy ass tennager that wasnt out in his shop every spare second I have and learning from him. Watching these videos is like watching the youth I wish I had taken advantage of. Good job. By the way... he had a 1970 Challenger sitting there on the property for a very long time.

For an undercoating, I would buy a gallon of Por-15 and roll it on the entire interior. Just clean up all of the surface rust with a big wire wheel and roll over top of it. Por-15 is the absolute best rust preventer I have ever used. I painted the whole interior of my quarter panels with it when I replaced them with patch panels about 4 years ago and I haven't seen so much as a spec of rust since.
Never mind, you read my mind...

Nice job Dillon. If I may suggest, either stagger cut that rail splice or fish plate it. If you make it a 90 degree splice, you are telling it to break here. You are giving it a nice straight line to fail at. A straight cut splice without a fish plate is the weakest joint you can make.

I'm glad to see your going to be treating the rust. I've laye gallons of rust converting paint and what I find works best is:
    >replace FUBAR metal
    >wirewheel all rusty metal AND painted metal so it sticks to it
    >clean everything with NON CHLORINATED breakcleaner(chlorinated breakcleaner + UV radiation from welding = deadly phosgene gas, even once its evaporated), wipe away all the debris
    >slather that shit on like theres no tomorrow. RustBullet for example, works so well that you can cover a crusty stud or something like in a frame rail, and it will convert the red iron oxide to stable black iron oxide like whats on impact sockets.
    >Then finally spray a gallon of FluidFilm for added protection, that way your arms are covered in oil every time you go to work on the suspension lol.
Also replace all rusty bolts with new grade8 yellow zinc or stainless steel bolts where they fall within strength requirements... antiseize on ALL fasteners... if more people used antiseize, working on crusty suspension wouldn't be such a PIA... I'm talkin Canadian rust... muffler flange bolt? nah... more like brown spike that crumbles in your hands.

I like how you handled the 318 and are replacing it with 360

Thanks for another greatly inspirational video Dylan, I have trunk issues in my car too. And I will certainly use this as a little bit of a tutorial for when I begin to fix that stuff as surprisingly my rear end in my 64 Wildcat seems to be very similar in terms of how everything comes apart. Thanks again for sharing and good luck on your car😎👍👍

A company called Eastwood makes a product called Rust Encapsulator. What it does is it chemically changes surface rust to a stable surface. You paint it on. It would be something you may want to use on your car where there is surface rust. Once the rust is stable, then it can be painted, or left as is.
