    Luv shopping in thrift stores!!! Finding designer clothes is always exciting!!! Great tip finding baggy denim in men's section!! If u find great item too small u can always add fabric to it if u can sew. I add lace or satin to clothes if need to make larger. Thanks for great ideas!!!

    Ever since discovering your channel, I have been loving your idea with old worn in men’s Levi’s. I am wondering though, as a tall, 12-14 sized woman, would these oversized looks with the jeans and blazers make me look like a big blob? I wish I had your figure, I do not have a tiny waist as you do and things don’t cinch in on me. Would love to know your thoughts on this!

    • @ModernBoyVintage
      @ModernBoyVintage ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you’re trying to achieve the oversized blazer denim combo being tall and 12-14…you’re right the men’s sizes may be too overwhelming…I’d recommend either doing a more tailored men’s blazer and women’s denim(vintage 90s) in a straight leg or a vintage men’s 501 Levi’s…lastly I’d look for “boyfriend” blazers that were actually made for women because it’ll be oversized and should flatter your body better…it’s all about how you want it to fit…hope this helped!!!

    • @BKStarlet08
      @BKStarlet08 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      this will depend on your actual shape, but look up the Rule of 3's as a good starting point.
      Also you dont have to put all of the trends together to make an outfit, or even use all of them together! I have a pear shape *and* short legs so wearing oversized jeans scares me a little lol

Also the stitching on the nice wide lapels and the functional cuff buttons just threw me I was shocked. I am so confused. I always understood the word denim to be a fabric, not an article of clothing. The articles of clothing made from denim fabric would be denim skirt, denim jacket, denim shorts, and denim jeans. Lately however, I am hearing people refer to denim pants or jeans as a “pair of denim”? It really confuses my wee brain. Is denim a fabric or an article of clothing??? Please help a girl out so I don’t sound like an idiot 😩

Im not into rhe oversized but im short, 5'3 barely.. petite, tiny upper body and even tailored clothes look oversized on me.. i am so here for the maxi skirts.. except for the jean ones.. i just donated two of them.. they were just too much fabric and the slit was too high.. idk.. maybe a buttoned one would work better.. im not giving up.. maybe a fuller one w a back vent.. im on the hunt.. love my Thursdays because of you!! 👍

    • @deniseoates7147
      @deniseoates7147 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      FYI! I, myself store mines in large heavy duty Rubbermaid type bins with snap on tops and stack them in my garage (where it does not get really cold or hot) and mark bin off-season. I use the clear contractor large trash bag (mine from Sam) to tuck around top (just encase there is a space or air hole in containers)before closing lids. Make sure you store them where water will not be a constant problem and I put some of mines on wood pallets. I used to put mothballs in them, but it takes too long to get that smell aired out, so these past few years been skipping adding them in the bins. I have acquired leathers lately and will be hanging them on a clothing rack and covering them in old clean sheet (never have color near lighter color leathers to prevent bleeding (keep pleathers away)). I try to store like items together, like all blazers, cardigans, etc and all sweaters and sweater dresses, and pants/skirts, and coat, jackets outerwear (minus pleathers (this might promote peeling) and leather) etc. My shoes I store on a wood pallet in their original containers together in a huge box (because I have too many shoes to keep them all out, so I have to switch with season). Handbags stored on top in box but carefully use tools (I use acid free paper to stuff to keep their shape and wrap around to prevent bleeding). I know it sound like a lot but once it set up, each season you get to actually get a thrill of discovering what was stored away. Make sure everything is cleaned and dry. I been doing this for over 30 years (at first all storage in boxes until I came across the durable storage bins). Hopefully this gave you some ideas you can use.

    New to your channel via this video! I’m so elated to find someone who thrifts like me! I’m just into my second trimester with my third baby and totally coming into this baggier trend style! It’s helping me keep my style and not succumb to maternity clothing… so unstylish. I’m excited to see how I can style myself and thrift things to fit as I grow. I bought a few pairs of Levi’s 550 and 560 from the men’s section and LOVE them! They are absolutely perfect for my frame to still have some high waist, but not too high, and I just keep finding a size bigger as I go 😅. Men’s stuff is excellent! When I’m done with them later down the road, my husband can have them. Talk about sustainable!

    Loved the Valentino jacket, it has a gorgeous timeless look. However, I don't like the boxy jacket look as it seems to suit a slimmer silhouette and I've noticed that all the "influencers" have this kind of body. Wider hips and torso seem to look even wider in it and it's not flattering. I do like wide leg trousers but finding a tailored jacket that works well with them is difficult. I think thrifting is the way forward until fashion drops this boxy look. It does look good on you though. Thanks for the tips, I have subscribed for more.

    I love your channel and I love this creativity. As a 3XL plus size woman I would love you to have mentioned when you take larger sizes you are taking away clothing from demographics who already have less items that actually fit at the thrift store. When many already have only a couple blazers on an entire rack that will fit it is hard to watch you not mention that you can wear 90% of what is there and are aware of being mindful of depleting larger size availability. (This applies to pants, or dresses, or any clothing section. In my size I usually have less than a dozen options that will even fit, even at large thrift stores with hundreds of items in each section.)

      Omg yess! I always think the same thing. I’m a 2x, and it’s like, “where is my baggy, oversized, whatever?” Oh there it is, over there on that tiny teenager.

      what she picked out was from the men's section and there looked to be loooots of clothes. she was hardly "depleting" larger size availability. and the blazers she ended up trying on I don't think would even be classified as plus size, for either gender.

      @@AthalieM men’s cut clothing also has the same problem with larger sizes being less represented. And I shop in it too trying to find larger sizes. All I am saying is it would be nice for her to acknowledge that all the stylings in this video were contingent on her small size and taking larger sizes. These were very creative ideas but it completely avoided a blatant issue. Every other thrifting channel the I follow that does ‘oversized’ looks that I follow acknowledges it. Having watched Beth for years I love what she does, but it feels like a miss.

      As someone that is taller and has a longer inseam, I can understand the struggle of not finding clothes that fit when thrifting. But…I personally can’t knock anyone that may take the longer lengths in pants, shirts, etc just because of the way I am made. With thrifting, it’s kind of a first come first serve and I just go OFTEN to find those random things that fit and when I do I’m ecstatic! Also, I’ve had to get creative with learning to add length by sewing in creative ways. You can find ways if you use creativity, I think.
      I’ve always said we need more innovative minds to start up lines for the taller or more fuller figured woman, there’s not a lot out there….I just get inspired myself to create looks and clothing that fit my body type. 💜

      @@rachelfranks4450 I am not sure why anyone would buy longer pants and such because then they wouldn’t actually fit? I haven’t thought about someone buying things with too long sleeves and such just because? Over-sized tends to just mean a larger size in fashion and not too long, but I hear you. That has to be an absolute struggle as fashion literally doesn’t tailor too you. I will be more mindful to watch for thrifting where people intentionally buy things that are too tall and will be mindful of the problems facing those sizing challenges as well. Thanks for teaching me about that!
