In Genesis 32, we find the story of Jacob wrestling with God. Many people are puzzled about the reason why. In this sermon, we see that Jacob was troubled like many of us are today, and God was attempting to bless him. As the story leaps off the page through visual story-telling we can see that we often wrestle with God ourselves. The story highlights that the wrestling between these twin brothers started in the womb, and the turmoil was further perpetuated by the family dynamics.
We should never look at characters through the lens of our self-righteous ideas of who they should be, its hard to walk a mile in another person's shoes. When Jacob's fear of the future, and what God had in store for him came to a boiling point, he found himself in the battle of his life.
Jacob was wrestling with an Angel who turns out to be God Himself. This wrestling match changed Jacob's identity and the world we live in, forever.
