Best beer in the world! Definitely. For me even better than the Westvleteren 12 or the Sint-Bernardus Abt (same recipe). The Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is another good one.
@@TheBierHooligan it's not just money it's availability. It's nearly impossible to get westie 12 in the states I've done it a few times but I paid a pretty penny. I can go to almost any bottle shop and find 10.
I like this beer more than La Trappe but not more than Straffe Hendrik. IMO, Straffe has a richer palette. Along side with St. Bernardus and You have 4 awesome quads. Difficult to call any of them the best. Love your passion for good beer. Cheers from California.🍻

Every time I drink a bottle of trappist beer , I feel great , its not just the fact that the beer is very good , it actually gets me in a peaceful mood , sometimes a bottle of this turns a bad day in a good one , witch doesnt work with most of the beers.
@@TheBierHooligan If you would like to try a beer with cheese , I think you may want to consider trying Chimay , they are another trappist brewery , but they also make cheese that they flavor with beer.
Btw , the westvetlerien 12 can now be bought only from the brewery for like 2.50 euros a bottle , they are selling only for non comercial use now , there is a limit you can buy by your id. I saw a tv report on in.
i live in Brussels and just around the corner we have a mini market store where they sell Westvleteren all year through , expensive though . 10euro/bottle
I've bought a couple of bottles after watching this review. Should this be drunk chilled or at room temperature? I know when you reviewed Leffe Blond you mentioned it tastes nicer at room temperature. I'm a novice when it comes to Belgium beers.
Michael Povey I personally drink any light (in colour) Belgian beer up to about 8.5% cool straight out the fridge and enjoy it every time. I disagree they all should be room temperature and certainly Leffe Blonde should be drank cold. It’s a beer at the end of the day and they don’t serve them room temperature in Belgium from what I’ve seen. The high alcohol darker ones you probably do want more room temperature, though.
Hi, I totally agree. A friend of mine does flood damage repairs and he did a bar in London recently. The place was an insurance write-off. So he bought back a massive amount of difference craft beers, like a 100... Including about 20 of these 8s and 10s. I will buy him a nice present for sure. Needless to say, I got a bit carried away the other day... Absolutely pukka beer. I actually went to school at Tabor, so I know your patch well. I wasn't pleased with the nobs who unsuccessfully came down on the train to see you. I was temped to message that monkey and tell him he better not come back... Cheers buddy.

Bought this last week to have 'with you' tonight, and I have to say I agree with a lot of what you say. I thought the 8 had the better nose, but for taste the 10 takes the flavours up to eleven. Looking forward to the side by side in the future - will you also be popping into Cantillon while you're in Belgium? Might just challenge your best beer views...
Great Review of a great beer. look forward to the showdown with the Westy12. I know this could prove never ending but adding the St Bernardus Abt in there too would prove interesting. As that great beer brewed just a few miles from the Westy is very hard to taste the difference. apparently a similar recipe and yeast, due to the fact the head brewer once worked for the Westy monks. Also the Abt is well easy to get hold of. As far as i'm aware you can only have the westy on tap at their on site cafe. I guess bottles elsewhere. happy days.

Just tried this this evening after having St. Bernardus Abt 12 last week. I loved every single sip. Just a beautiful creation.
There is absolutely no fucking way this tastes like 11.3% - absolutely staggering that this beer is the way it is. These monks have nailed it!

Yep that’s true! I had the Westvleteren 12. It’s one of the best beers I’ve ever tried! Totally worth the money.
