There is a lot of weirdness. They get a new secret name, they do a lot of ritual motions that Smith copied from Masonic rituals. They have to watch these videos that talk about all of the secrets. They have to learn secret handshakes. It’s just odd.
It’s very hard for polygamy to not be one of the reasons… I think Rob joining the family was the first domino that fell, but the move to Vegas counteracted that because the children were being taken care of and that is what mattered the most to the OG3. I think this aloud the first wives to forgive Cody for many years. The next domino fell when they moved to Flagstaff because the quality of life for most of the family drastically dropped. That is when the imbalance was incredibly obvious to everyone, and that caused all the dominoes to fall
Her father was the oldest son of the founder of the AUB. I don't think he was ever the head of the AUB just high up, but either way, I'm sure he would have stepped down at this point because he's been very sick for years.
I converted to mainstream LDS in 2011 and still am but I am inactive. I learned that the 144,000 while on my misson are suppose to be a missionary force of High Priest. I actually looked it up on the Church website and the following is what I found from a Teacher Simnary book "Remind students that the 144,000 are high priests of the twelve tribes of Israel who will be ordained from every nation to administer the gospel and bring people to the Church (see Revelation 7:4-8; D&C 77:11). According to verses 4-5, how did John describe the 144,000 high priests who would administer the gospel throughout the earth? (Explain that the phrase “not defiled with women” [verse 4] means they were chaste, the phrase “in their mouth was found no guile” [verse 5] means they were honest and sincere, and the phrase “without fault” [verse 5] means they were clean from sin.) Why do you think being chaste, honest, and clean from sin would help the 144,000 high priests take the gospel to others?" But no they didn't focus on it to much nor do they much about the last days. Maybe more now then they did before from what I saw of GC. But love this I have seen a few of the podcast. I actually served in Montana and heard of Pinesdale a lot. I think the AUB is the closes to the LDS out of all the Fundamentlist groups.
Question. Wasn't the Brown family AUB? And were they living in this same area that these two were living? And if so, why did Kody make such a big deal about needing to leave there when so many others were living there?
I have watched many of your pod casts...and during the opening Melissa always says Iwas raise in the LDS church....I have always wondered if they are in a church community now????
They talked about this a while ago and at that time they weren't part of any church, though still have close family and friends in the LDS church, I believe

Completely differently though. I grew up in the JWs and the 144,000 were supposed to be the "anointed" chosen by Jesus when he began his 1000-year reign in 1914. They are the only ones that go to heaven when they die. I just want to say I really enjoy this channel and am so sorry for the stuff y’all went through. That said, I’m not part of the AUB but I am married to a man who has another wife and we have 20 children combined. I fully know and exercise my ability to connect with God. I have so many freedoms and we have a beautiful family. I do not believe that those who leave will be cast into constant unhappiness. I just feel they’re missing something. But that’s their choice which is why we are here. To exercise our free agency. I just ask that polygamous are not lumped into one category of brainwashed individuals.

Question. How would you know, if you were driving on a road trip that you are in an area of these people? Is it a neighborhood or just people who live anywhere and what do they dress like, where do they get food? 😂 so many questions, really.
Hey Sam and Melissa I’m like 99% sure the picture you used of her father on the thumb nail is not him. That is a picture of a Christian Pastor also named David Watson, don’t think he’s the AUB president
I want these “Christians “ to show us all where these types of marriages are allowed in their “Bible”. I will tell you where. In the ISRAELITES TIRAH. None of this nonsense is allowed. You can read Deuteronomy for yourself. Please don’t The Creator allows or requires this!
Officially, the church discontinued polygamy in the 1890's. The law and church mostly turned a blind eye to existing marriages, but there weren't supposed to be any more new polygamous marriages. A lot of people got around that by going to Mexico or Canada, or by secretly contracting polygamous marriages with the help of sympathetic local church leaders. Another proclamation was made in 1905, making it clear that no more new polygamous marriages would be acknowledged and those participating in them would be kicked out. That was when polygamists started forming their own churches. Even though the AUB is always making nice with the LDS, any LDS people who join the AUB or any polygamous group, or who practice polygamy are out of the church. Having a 2nd or more spouse is considered the equivalent of adultery. However, the church can't criminally prosecute polygamy or any crimes.
I'm not polygamist or even Mormon, just a person that likes to deep dive & from what I understand alot of these marriages are "spiritual" meaning under the eyes of God they're husband & wife, but there isn't any legal documents. Sometimes the father of multiple children with many wives aren't even listed on the birth certificate, like the Kingston group. So that's the loophole.
Melanie says that Dave Watson currently has 8 wives. That completely threw me: I thought he had 8 wives total, 4 remaining - three left him (one "marriage" lasted only sex weeks), one died. His last marriage that I knew of was in late 2022 or early 2023. If Dave Watson really currently has 8 wives, that means that he added 4 wives in 2023 and 2024. Wow.
Ummm. I believe they have touched on things he remembers fondly... But overall most I've watched that engaged in polygamy agree that even the fondness is surface level, and the trauma is deep.
I would recommend you look into endowment ceremony videos from other ex Mormon creators so you can get an idea of what happens. It is never discuss with them prior to going and a lot happens that day, no one prepares you for those rituals you just have to power through them to get married

@@sherryg1838 I've been watching for a year and never ever been left wondering like this because they usually make a real good effort to explain themselves
Isn't this the group that the SisterWives came from?
Yes I believe so!
Didn’t some of the AUB women pose as single women in mainstream lds wards and get their recommends to get the mainstream endowments?
🙏💜
26:23 I wish I knew wth they r talking about
What does it mean to get "endowed"?
I only knew of the 144,000 as a Jehovah’s Witness thing. I didn’t know that the Order numbering system existed as a part of that! That’s so wild.
Do any of you have a church that you attend now? Or do you study the Book of Mormon? I feel that I would need to go to something if I chose to leave my religion. And I don't think I could ever not believe in the Book of Mormon.
❤
I just want to say I really enjoy this channel and am so sorry for the stuff y’all went through. That said, I’m not part of the AUB but I am married to a man who has another wife and we have 20 children combined. I fully know and exercise my ability to connect with God. I have so many freedoms and we have a beautiful family. I do not believe that those who leave will be cast into constant unhappiness. I just feel they’re missing something. But that’s their choice which is why we are here. To exercise our free agency. I just ask that polygamous are not lumped into one category of brainwashed individuals.
We ain't missing anything by having a beautiful, equal, intimate, monogamous marriage 🤗 girl bye.
👏
Why is the ceremony so shocking and secret?
@marlenevdpoll it is very cult and freemason like. If you goggle it thr full ceremony is on TH-cam so you can see.
Cody's indifference caused problems.
Does anyone know the Chatwins?? Awesome family- you tube Darik & Cara Chatwin - she wasnt raised Mormon but agreed. Awesome dad & i just cant understand how he is cool w it
They have made it a lot shorter. And there’s a lot more changes too.
Rulon was killed in May of 1977.
So, in school, do the other kids know each others religion? Like in class, is that a thing, where people associate or don't associate or form clicks with the different religions?
The 144k comes from the witnesses in Revaluations?
Mariane Court
Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the 144,000
Completely differently though. I grew up in the JWs and the 144,000 were supposed to be the "anointed" chosen by Jesus when he began his 1000-year reign in 1914. They are the only ones that go to heaven when they die. The rest of us just die and wait to be resurrected onto Paradise Earth, which is supposed to be cleansed of all the unbelievers, where we can live forever as it was in Eden in the beginning. At least, that's what I was taught before escaping in 1992.
@@sandydenman6083 thank you. I never knew that.
in all the history of the Temple. I wonder if it has not happened that like "the emperor new clothes" Just say out and leaves.?????
Question. How would you know, if you were driving on a road trip that you are in an area of these people? Is it a neighborhood or just people who live anywhere and what do they dress like, where do they get food? 😂 so many questions, really.
Are these people still considered Mormons or have they left the Mormon church?
Hey Sam and Melissa I’m like 99% sure the picture you used of her father on the thumb nail is not him. That is a picture of a Christian Pastor also named David Watson, don’t think he’s the AUB president
Thank you for letting us know 🙂
I want these “Christians “ to show us all where these types of marriages are allowed in their “Bible”. I will tell you where. In the ISRAELITES TIRAH. None of this nonsense is allowed. You can read Deuteronomy for yourself. Please don’t The Creator allows or requires this!
If Polygamy was shunned by the government long ago, how is it allowed now. Sorry, I feel like I know nothing.
Wow.
Well you seem to be very educated on my dad. I never said he had 8 wives currently. He considers himself to have 8 total.
And some of your “facts” are not accurate. Just fyi
How come you guys dont talk about the good points of polygamy
Ummm. I believe they have touched on things he remembers fondly... But overall most I've watched that engaged in polygamy agree that even the fondness is surface level, and the trauma is deep.
I have no idea what y'all are talking about. What was happening that was so weird?
I would recommend you look into endowment ceremony videos from other ex Mormon creators so you can get an idea of what happens. It is never discuss with them prior to going and a lot happens that day, no one prepares you for those rituals you just have to power through them to get married
