What a great great story!!! i went to the Village in '67 and spent the summer livin my Bob Dylan dream. Playin guitar in the park, meetin girls and hangin out in the clubs and coffeehouses. What a place, what a time!
+softail springer perhaps in next life, i can be born in another time and place, with someone else to show someone else to face, im saying that dylan didnt :(
This was one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen on the internet, my heart's full of melancholy, sounds like you were living the dream for one night, what an amazing oportunity!. Thanks for sharing it, I really love stories. Have a good life man
Its 2 am in the morning! Searching Dylan stuff. Found your story. Mint, original and how fortunate to be complimented by Bob. Your Sincerity - appreciated. I could feel Manhattan. Loved it Thanks
Who knows if the guy really was from England, he may have mistaken an Aussie or Kiwi for a Englishman. I doubt if he checked his papers, he was prone for violence and may not have been thinking clearly.
There is a lot of aggression in English people, speaking as one. And many seem to have an inferiority complex about Americans, and end up talking bull about them, afraid to say. Encouraged by our wild MSM. I remember clearly what it was like in '66 during the tour.
What an experience, what a story, what a memory! Bob is who inspired me to become a singer-songwriter too! You were so lucky to meet him all those years back!
Never met Bob, but spent a lot of time with Eric Von Schmidt. It was Eric who gave Bob the song, "Baby can I follow you down?". He said Dylan had a memory that was just incredible. He listened to Eric sing the song one time and Dylan performed it the next night. Sadly, Eric died in 2007. But he leaves behind a whole lot of contributions to American culture, both in art and music.
Really enjoyed this. Couldn't believe it went past one drink, let alone an all night jam session. Thanks for sharing and for putting together a very nice video to tell the story.
Thanks Frank for sharing your story. You're obviously a good guy and that as well as your songs was why Bob wanted to hang with you. And it's sweet and self-deprecating of you to use Positively 4th Street as the soundtrack. I was introduced to John Hammond Jr once here in Paris, that was nice. I was also introduced to Bob once too. Our conversation? Me: "Hi Bob"; Bob: "Hi man". Strangely, that was enough for me. I then just hung around while he talked to more important people, just wishing there was a photographer there.
What a great evening, u indeed are lucky, I hope bob or one of his friends sees the clip and perhaps u may have a second round of drinks with the legend Bob Dylan. Thanks very much for sharing your story. Cheers Colin Lexton Victoria Australia
Absolutely loved this video. Thanks Frank. I have. a friend here in Perth in Western Australia who has a story about her meeting Bob. He was on a tour here. She was stopped in the street by an American guy with his girlfriend and asked if she could suggest a good place to eat close by - The story, a bit like yours continues from there......... incidentally, she plays guitar and sings but not a fan of Dylan, and she told him that. But it didn't stop a very interesting day unfolding.
Wow! You're a great storyteller Frank! I forgot where I was I was swept up by your words. I like how the film is in black and white too! I wish at the end we'd hear at least one of the songs you played or recited your lyrics... but it is what it is and a great story, and great film making how the camera followed you to the actual places so many years later and how poignant the editing or in perfect sych with your story the pictures of Bob and the sound track too! Thanks to you and the film maker for sharing something so special!
Sounds like an experience of a lifetime. I am reminded of James Joyce and his book Ulysses. The adventure of bar hopping was a theme in that book. Another writer that comes to my mind is Salinger and his book The Catcher in the Rye. I had the privilege of spending time with a person named John Molloy, an Irish actor with experience in the Abby Theater, and numerous acting credits. We were good friends and I got an insight from him into the major figures of 20th century Irish literature. That was back in the late 80's. Quite an experience for me at the time, and slightly enhanced by my familiarity with Joyce, Yates and Beckett as literary icons of Ireland. Surprisingly Mr. Molloy lived to be 70 years old and died in Oakland, California on my birthdate. His daughter has his gift for expression and has written novels and drama works.
LOVE THIS sO Much! Smiling BiGly! What a wonderful and sweet storyteller ❤ Saved and sharing. Saw Bob at Robinson Auditorium, downtown in my second hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas in 1986. Genius of genius songwriters. Have been a fan since about age 13 or 14 in 1973 but it wasn't until TH-cam came along that I realized just how mannnnny he has written.Truely phenomenal. PS, Loving these cool comments. Real Americans lol 🤗🥰💕
That is afantastic, you are avery nice person to share it with me. I am a great fan of bobs and stories like yours just add to his lrgacy. Thanks again! Reggie
great memories and a greater take away as it is now June of 2020 party tempered til we're out of time... Thanx Frank lookin forward to buying you a drink...
Great story of paths crossing in NYC! I hope Bob get to see your recollection. Thanks for sharing it with us. It was fun going from place to place with you!
Amazing story,,, thanks for sharing!!! I'm so glad I caught this video! Bob's songs would not be Bob's songs without Bob's voice. That voice is needed for those songs
Hi Margaret - Thanks for the kudos. Your point about Dylan's distinctive voice is well taken. We first posted the video with the Dylan track, but TH-cam took it down for copyright issues, so in order to keep sharing Frank's story, we were forced to replace the track. We tried to honor the original as best we could.
@@ZULAKISCREATIVE - Yes, I wondered about that. I could tell right away it wasn't Bob singing the song, though it was a pretty good cover of it anyway. (Of course, I would have known right away if I'd read what you posted underneath....but I just started listening first, and then read those notes later. Nice story! Bob has been my greatest inspiration too.)
Sweet story told by a man with a great memory (well, I guess I would remember a night like that...lol) and wonderful animator. Dylan and John Hammond Jr are two of my fav musicians, so the climax was right up there! Thank you Frank Zulakis.
Much love to you and to my beloved artist/song-and-dance-man-/genius/spiritual man............Bob Dylan...........and all his loved ones, like you, and even me..................music and beauty and truth is LOVE..............is it not??? cheers!
What an absolutely wonderful story. Reminds me of the book, "Encounters with Dylan". Great stuff. What a nice guy, and what a lucky guy! I'm still waiting for my Dylan moment. Although Bob stared straight at me while performing "Tangled Up in Blue" at the Pantages Theater many years ago. I guess I'm lucky too. If you have Bob Dylan in your life, you are lucky.
Incredible story! Wish I could have met him! I've seen him over 30 times in concert. One concert I was with my friend near the stage I blew him a kiss and he nodded his head to me! LOL
Great thanks to you for sharing this story. These are the kind of things that we know must happen but we never really get the stories told. So glad that you chose to share it with us!

I smiled for 11 minutes, what a great story and what a great storyteller, thank you Frank
Beautiful and inspirational!!!!!!!! Truth be told, I think Bob was lucky to meet YOU.
Do you know this guy? If not are you just being patronising?
What a great great story!!! i went to the Village in '67 and spent the summer livin my Bob Dylan dream. Playin guitar in the park, meetin girls and hangin out in the clubs and coffeehouses. What a place, what a time!

Great story. You related to him as a musician. and not an icon. That did it for him. Cool.
nice - i smiled all the way through that video.
This was one of the most beautiful things i've ever seen on the internet, my heart's full of melancholy, sounds like you were living the dream for one night, what an amazing oportunity!. Thanks for sharing it, I really love stories. Have a good life man
What a beautiful day, man...worth writing a song about!
This is storytelling at its absolute best. Fantastic and inspirational .
Its 2 am in the morning! Searching Dylan stuff. Found your story. Mint, original and how fortunate to be complimented by Bob. Your Sincerity - appreciated. I could feel Manhattan. Loved it Thanks
Fascinating story, I apologise on behalf of all English men for the drunken bum.
Who knows if the guy really was from England, he may have mistaken an Aussie or Kiwi for a Englishman. I doubt if he checked his papers, he was prone for violence and may not have been thinking clearly.
After those tours he did in England in the 60s, I think he was used to that treatment from you blokes.
There is a lot of aggression in English people, speaking as one. And many seem to have an inferiority complex about Americans, and end up talking bull about them, afraid to say. Encouraged by our wild MSM. I remember clearly what it was like in '66 during the tour.
me too
Frank, you tell a good story. Thanks for the tour!
