Bro, not even fast food and retail are easily hiring during this time, it's insane. Someone I know took a whole year just to find work in fast food and she had to BEG the manager (who she was connected with) to give her the position. Multiple industries are impacted right now, no one is quitting their job, no one is hiring. All the stress just makes me want to be a stay at home wifey, keeping the house clean and cooking good food cuz no one out there will truly care for you enough to let you keep your job
GURL. I've been very lost in the past little while about what to do about money, because I only take commissions, so some months are very good, some are completely empty and I want to do better, watching you is giving me at least ideas I hope I can put into practice. Haven't seen many straightforwards people on youtube that can make me have hope xD like you can. Thank you.
accept reality guys, most artists have a day job and do art on the side but will make it full time eventually. Even when your skills is top notch you still need to work on your business and social skills. Only top 1% of them make bank and most of them are industry veterans then they move to freelancing at some point in their career.
and that's why we need to fight for our interests and stop being exploited. In an era of massive media consumption, how's possible being a media creator and not have any reward for this? doesn't make any sense unless we start fighting for our rights
@@Fightdemon Yeah, working is oké, but I see many people do and be so many things. It is exausting and it should not be that hard to just earn some money enough to get trough the week and for some extra's.
Lots of really important and helpful ideas! I feel like I kind of screwed myself over by putting all my time and energy into being an animator (which was going good for 3 years) but now with the state of the industry I haven't been able to find stable work for a year! I wish I had some sort of side hustle or backup plan to help me more during these times, because my savings only go so far!
In LA when things can be slightly closer is a good option, but many places have things too spread out to where the person would be spending over $700. a week just to get around.

well that's what she knows- she can't give advice on situations she's never experienced or has firsthand knowledge of. Id recommend you do personal research on successful art careers within your own country/local area and develop your own plans of how to be sustainable and financially stable as an artist. That may mean having a different job and dong your art on the side
Hi, thank you for the video! :) Your entire journey is really inspiring, keep it up, girl! I also feel similarly about a car - currently have a part-time job that I can walk to, and later when uni starts again I will take public transport. I am working on living below my means, trying to limit my spending on things. I am working on my TH-cam presence but it's understandably slow as it's a part-time commitment, but I am having fun so if it eventually yields a return, I'll be happy. Thanks again!
Car thing works for you, but my area I need a car, public transport is a joke, but if that works for you not for everyone. This is mostly one way to do it not for everyone, people will be different and work differently. Over all savings do help.
Yes, if not full-time at lest part-time. I wish I had saved more when I had a full-time job but I also have a daughter who I've been putting through school so that killed the savings I could have done. I sometimes wish I was stronger, but also as a mom it is hard to not want to give your kid the best opportunity. I got laid off in Jan 2024 and still have NOT found a full-time job but thankfully did land a part-time. I take the rest of the time when I am not searching or working to pour into my art.
As someone who can't drive, I saved up so much money not having a car and paying gas. Same with living with relatives, i don't have much privacy but I still saved lots of money for it especially as a freelance artist
and bruh i’ve NEVER heard someone share the same “not having car” sentiment as me so exact, ubers skateboarding and everything wow i agree full heartedly!
While it’s awesome to hear what’s worked for you; the title is pretty misleading. Not everyone is going to be able to get ad revenue or sponsorships, in fact very very few of us can. It’s not really helpful advice for the average artist. The video kind of feels like a humble brag, honestly.
I'm sorry to hear the video sounded like a humble brag, but I'm not here to be able to address what every artist can specifically do in their own life, so I just share my personal experiences as I do with my entire channel. It's an option that's available, and with that does come with building an online presence which I also make endless videos about. I do think I address ways you can try to stay financially stable as an artist but what is applicable to everyone cannot always be solved in one video. It would be disingenuous for me to share options I've never tried before and mislead people to making financial mistakes which is why I draw from my own experience. I hope that can be understood.
@@Dinoboots Lol no wonder you don't have time to get revenue or sponsors. Im in highschool and im going to choose a job in two years. I was planning to study in Graphic design until i heard a lot of professional artist telling people that being artist is hard and if you are really wanna be artist you should do as a second job 😭😭
Also will admit, as a previous graphic designer due to the technology and AI rises these jobs have shrunk so entering the market will be very tough. It is hard to predict what will happen in two years as right now the market is awful. But I do not see it ever returning to the levels it once was. Things that might be better are things in social media or video which will continue to be a business need.
What’s funny is I can easily live below my means the problem is….i love cars 😭 such money pits but I want so many of them. It’s kind of a motivation to actually make money from art. I appreciate the tips so much tho especially with taxes THANK YOU 🙏 ❤
Hey if you love cars, I think you should honor that with still staying financially afloat! While it would def save money to not have as many cars, it's not really as fulfilled as a life, so that's up to you to figure that balance. I hope you get all the cars of your dreams!
Very helpful I admire you as an artist. When you get big someday please don’t be like Bobby Chiu who is like a car’s salesman running an MLM pyramiding company. Always stay true to your self.
I have a Roth IRA and high yield savings account through Fidelity Investments and it was all very easy to setup. All money in the high yield account I consider off limits and don’t consider it part of the money Im allowed to spend. I love getting another artists perspective on these things so thanks for this.
Ok, Michelle, fr can you make a different type of video? Like it’s been like 6 of these and they’re all sponsored. The clickbait is getting mad annoying…🙄
