Dulseth here, your leaf shirt is STILL epic!! I’ll forever get compliments on it! I just auditioned for my first ren faire (GA) as a street performer! I feel amazing just trying out, we’ll see how it goes! Thank you for this video, I’m super interested how the festival life/circuit works. I learned a lot just from your knowledge and background! I hope to see you this year at the Ohio ren faire this year if everything pans out! Thanks again Sprout!!
It is good to see you back as Sprout. With the birthday parties you need either a craft activity or some fairy related games to run. Normally you would be the special guest that is there for maybe an hour during the party, do your activity, have photos taken and leave.
Bravo. I prefer F.O.F "Friends Of Fair" or "regulars" we don't mind getting the season pass for we wish to shop, drink, flirt ,and play as we please while adding to the atmosphere. Cast and vendors are unfortunately very restricted. But bless you for bieng there friends.
Interesting insights, thanks for sharing. I've done a tiny bit of stage show and lane work MANY years ago. Thanks for giving your tips and sharing your experiences. Hope I can see you in-character at a faire some day!
At Sherwood Forest Faire, I own 4 food booths and our minimum pay is $12/hour. I believe many of the other food vendors pay similar rates and our people get tips as well. Just like the outside world some people try to pay as little as possible. We also hire our people as full-time employees, as per the law if they get paid more than $600.
@@OBTX91 full time employees if they get paid more than $600? Like a yearly salary? I think the law is that you must give them a 1099 form if they make more than $600 for independent contract work.
Fae of Seeds ! Love it. We are very passionate native plant educators. ONLY native plants help to heal the ecosystem. If you're not familiar with how important native plants are I'd love to chat further so you could perhaps incorporate that message into your character interactions with the public. When we are Wood elves the trinkets we share at Ren faire's are native plant seeds in little vials. I hope we can talk further.
That is such a cool idea for trinkets. It's now too close to our local fest to collect native seeds for this year, but I'll plan on doing so for next year!
I’m a jester at TRF in the front gates for pictures and Ngl this is ONE of the most stressful and physically demanding jobs I’ve done…and I’ve worked in construction 😅 BUT I’m enjoying the people I work with and seeing all the beautiful people who walk through! Lots of rude people when I’m just trying to do my job…it doesn’t cost people anything for me to just do MY part but those rude encounters really drain me allot. Luckily my boss is very sweet and kind so she keeps me motivated and cool throughout the hot day!
So I am with a reenactment group that does demos at renaissance festivals and I love doing it. I am able to camp at the festival because I don’t drive and I live far away which is amazing. I do it for free. I used to work at the festivals And worked at games and other things and I didn’t particularly want to do that but I also am not a competitive person so for me to audition is not something I am comfortable with so I didn’t choose to. I just don’t like uncertainty and utter disappointment when something means a lot to me. I always hoped to someday be able to be the executioner at the festival but most festivals don’t have that or if they do someone already is doing it that been there forever and I would just end up really disappointed and heartbroken and it’s happened many times and it always really hurt my heart. so that’s why I just go with my reenactment group and do the demos for free and I am able to at least dress in my executioner garb even if I am doing art work or something different. I reenact the executioner with my reenactment group and that’s my passion. I gave up on trying to be that person who takes pictures with people and acts as the executioner at the festival and I gave up on trying to be the person who sits in front of the torture museum if a festival has that. It’s sad but because of the fact that I literally would not stand a chance to have the part. I just wish that I could have had a chance I am very friendly and genuine and really good at acting my medieval executioner persona. I just feel like I was not treated very fairly and I did try but because I kept getting utterly disappointed because there is always some other person who does it and I don’t think anyone understood how much my medieval persona actually matters to me. I am not that type of person who can in general do something that I am not genuinely happy doing. especially if I have to watch someone else do what I would have been happy and comfortable doing when doing something I am not happy with. I can’t focus if i am not doing something I am okay and genuinely happy with. I also feel sad if i try to have my dream job at the festival and don’t and end up doing something that is not my thing and having to watch that very person who just because they been there for years they get the opportunity. It’s sad that i gave up on working at the festival but i am grateful i am at least able to come and be at the festival with my reenactment group doing demos and being able to dress in my executioner garb at least even if I don’t have the paid opportunity to do what i love.
A lot of “rennies” start as push- monkey (pushing the carousel) then graduate to “squire” ( helping the knights, catching lances, cleaning horse crap) It’s show business!

Living in Australia the model you work under is quite different to how our events work, but I've learned quite a lot! Thank you so much 🙂
I’m glad I could help you learn something 😁
I love your costume! And thank you for this I have wanted to work at the ren fair for so long and I think I know what I want to do now! Thank you

@MeekaChannel they are full time when employed, but yes that is correct. I meant the tax form

Yeah I’ve been on hard times. This video was recorded last July. I hope I’ll be able to record a new video before too long.
