As I’m rebuilding my portfolio for concept art and manga / comic book these kind of videos of portfolio reviews really helps me on what my portfolio needs to be focused on

How much detail should we put in our concept sheets? I've been told I noodle on details too much, but then I get told that I don't add enough detail, so I'm super confused. I always try to balance my shapes and forms based on focal points, putting the most important info in strategic areas without making them look too overworked on design pages and finished concepts. I guess it's somewhat subjective depending on who looks at your portfolio. Animators see my stuff and say its too detailed lol

The best way to handle that is to put details in places where YOU want to show off to the viewer. Your piece has to have a selling point. For example, if you're doing a character concept, what about the character should the viewer focus on? What makes him/her stand out? Helmet? Face? Shoulder armor?

on the first one and most of the portfolios i’ve seen i see logos. would you say having a logo is necessary for a professional look?

A logo is nice to have but not necessary.

Strange, I see Turnaround vids on a ton of 3D Concept Artists/Creature Designer's Artstation Portfolios all of the time. I thought that was the norm.

They're useful as a compliment but not good if it's the only thing showing off the full model. Still images are way better because people can actually study them without having to pause it.

Hey, for someone who's learning traditional art would u recommend sharing your drawings on social media as you learn and progress through your studies or would u wait a few years untill u have mastered your skills and are making ur truly original works? (im currently doing nr. 1 where i share a lot of my work as im learning and studying so hopefully people can see my progress and appreciate that)

Its perfectly fine doing it at the beginning especially if your looking for advice and critique and if its what you enjoy then keep doing it you dont have to be good at part to post it

@ my aim is mainly to try and build a following so that i can actually moneyize it and sell my work later on but its very hard and slow so far tho
