    I did this very repair, but I replaced the back glass. It’s a great tutorial! I have one question though! After I heated it (I used a laser thermometer) the screen has a black spot, small, but it’s there. I know I didn’t over heat it, but I don’t know what caused it. It has white and green lines vertically extending from it too. Once again great tutorial!

    Great clear video , I'm thinking of doing my own repair , couple of questions though.... because you remove the battery in this repair do you loose everything that's on your phone for example photos , downloads and so on ?
    And do you need to ware a antu static band to stop shorts of some of the components? I ask this as I use to operate surface mount machines making boards for games consoles and some components can short out if you touch them with your hands from the very slightest amount of static in your body .

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your first question ( you should not have anything deleted or disappeared when you remove the battery connector. I have never encountered that situations. Nowadays these smartphones are not subject to what you’re talking about)
      Second question you are absolutely right you should ground yourself before working on an electronic components. I tend to not show that in my videos because when I sit I touch stuck to discharge if any then do the work. But you’re right that is the correct procedure ✅

      @ersbit Hi, sorry to bother you with another question but is it possible to change the front glass on the s29 plus 5g ? After looking around I've read some have just changed the front glass because everything else works fine regards to the lcd and so on , if so ,do you know how to do that ?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. You can change the glass only if the display under is good. The issue is doing the removal and installation of the new glass ( it requires way more technical experience and the risks of cutting through the display panels is extremely high doing all these manually.
      It’s possible but I refrain from doing those type of glass only videos replacement because most of the viewers will not do it successfully (manually). I tried it on the Note 3 way back it worked. With these curved screens it’s more harder.
      Am sure there are other videos you can follow instructions they can help you complete the glass only replacement. Just in case while doing the glass only it fails and the display get damage you will just need to get a full frame screen like in my video.
      You can try glass only replacement first and hopefully if that’s works out good you won’t have to buy a full framed screen 👍🏽

    @ersbit, Does the device still retain its water resistant state ?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends really on the quality of the replaced part. Even if original quality I recommend you to use 1/3 rule.
      If previously your device can stay in water for 9 minutes now you know the maximum is 3 minutes.
      You'll certainly have slightly diminished water resistance after any kind of repair

    Your tutorial was great. On my new frame, it didn't come with the ear piece so I removed it from the old broken screen frame and inserted in the new frame but I can't get it to work. the new frame with the screen is working and the bottom speaker is working so I assume I did the repair right. but it's just the ear piece. What do you think is the issue? the ear piece was working in the old broken screen frame.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hummm most likely damaged. Sometimes removing the old speaker will be nearly impossible (to avoid damage). They put too much glue when you pry out you can open the speaker in half or cut the tiny cable.
      Check your connection to the speaker to make sure it sit right. I am saying damage because there's should not be any issues with transferring the speakers.
      Remove the speaker and inspect carefully for any opening or something like that. I hope you used some heat while removing it that would have made the removal much easier. 👍🏽

    There is some difference between the screen connectors of the s20 plus 4G and those of the s20 plus + 5G?. I have a s20 plus 4G SM-G985F and I need to know to buy the correct screen

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. And no
      The international version of these devices 4G have slots for the 5G antenna, but there is not component inside the phone.
      You can check my S21 ultra teardown I show the 5G components. It two rectangular components. One on each side of the device frame.
      The screen connector should be the same and if you have 5G you just add your 5G to the new screen. Just get an answer from the seller to avoid buy/return and buy (sellers always send the cheapest version first (International))

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you don't feel the need to sell it you can keep it. There is no worries to have if your screen was replaced. You just have to make sure you have it repair by someone who knows what they are doing and seal real good the back glass / back cover. Apart from a back cover not properly sealed, frame not well cleaned you don't have to be afraid of the screen itself.

    IMPORTANT Question: Maybe it is too obvious, but is there a chance, with that cracks, to only need to replace the Glass Screen instead of the whole screen? Because my phone has the same cracks on the glass screen, but for some reason 10% of the top area of my screen doesn't work anymore.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Great question. Yes it is possible to replace the glass only. This solution is recommended if your touchscreen is still working 100% (Replacing the glass only is more difficult and you need professional level to do that. Not only professional level, but also some machines to laminate and delaminate...remove bubbles. It is possible to do it without those machines (I did a glass only repair on a Note 3 which was a flat screen, these rounded super thin super amoled are very fragile to handle). I chose to do this video because it is the easiest not so much cost effective if you have the skills to replace the glass alone.
      I tried glass alone replacement on the S8 plus and S8 without those machine and destroyed the screen after I removed the glass so rendering the amoled useless.
      *In your case if the screen is not responding in some areas, it's better to replace the whole thing. Even is you find someone willing to do the glass only repair there is no guarantee that your touch responsiveness will be restored 100%*
      link to my screen supplier is in description
      (P.S lol those machines cost $500+ so nobody doing a single or weekend repair will do this investment it's for repair shops basically)

    I need your advice. I got screen replaced at Samsung Store few days back and every since I've been facing problems with it. Firstly my cellular network was very much unstable, I went back to get it fixed and they said it could be a software problem but I convinced them otherwise (hardware issue) and got it fixed. Per them network antenna was damaged. Here is the real issue, My phone gets as hot as sun after 20 minutes of phone use, More specifically, when I play COD with lowest possible graphic setting and lowest possible refresh rate. I think they have mishandled it, but, I would value your opinion over myself and others, what do you think might have happened?

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, this seems really weird, these devices do not have overheating issue (commonly) maybe a faulty screen that uses a lot of energy? Do you have battery issues? Does it drain faster than usual
      A similar situation happens to me when I use the cheapest screen on the market (Chinese replicate). Maybe they installed a screen that's not really original or a Chinese clone of the screen. You should go back to the shop and talk them to install a new screen because of the overheating issues.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes. It will still be water resistant. You just need to make sure you reinstall a back cover that has gray/green tape like in one that comes from manufacturers.
      If it's black double sided tape those are really thin from experience and they have worse water resistance. Just be mindful that after a repair you need to worry a bit more about water damage. Done right splash or a few seconds is alright but don't just treat the device like it coming from the manufacturer anymore ( even those get water damage 🤷🏽‍♂️😅)

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No to remove the glass only you will require more time an work. You need a heating pad with suction then use a metallic wire to separate the glass from the screen (without cutting through the screen) use loca glue to put the new glass and use UV to cure the loca glue. 😂 it's easier to state but doing it has a very high failure rate that's why I didn't go that route.
      If you have the skills you can do it if not it's better to replace the whole screen and frame.

    • @ersbit
      @ersbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The front glass only range from $18 to $30 depending on who is selling them. In this video I changed the whole thing which is easier and you can resell the broken screen on eBay. If you want to change the front glass only it will require you professional level experience if not you can break the screen in the process and go back to buying a screen and replace it like I did in this videos.

      Galaxy S20+ 5G $269
      Galaxy S20 5G $249
      Galaxy S20 FE 5G $149
      These are the prices on Samsung website
      The thing is that replacing the glass only requires more equipment purchase and for a one time use it’s not worth it. Also the screen itself is so fragile that 80% of manual glass repair will get the screen damaged that’s why there are a lot of screens on eBay selling with black dots. It’s difficult and repair success for someone like you and I is low. It’s possible to replace the glass manually but you’d have to be very careful while doing the repair

      @@lucaslee2102 generally changing your screen will not affect anything except the screen only. No data will be lost if done right. Just make sure you don't have a static shock between the phone and your fingers. The risk of losing your files is very low 1%
