I'm not that big of a Call of Duty fan, but even I'll admit Modern Warfare 2's campaign was fantastic. The whole Washington DC scenario was done beautifully.
+Josh Walker It was only possible because they ignored M.A.D., made Makerov and his henchman invincible at the airport, and made the Russian government far more extreme and foolish then it really is. But i will admit the soundtrack is very good and if you ignore real world consequences... It's actually an epic campaign.
Yeah, no real world government would react in such a way. The Russian invasion is a massive stretch of my suspension of disbelief, only made worse in the sequel where they invade the entirety of fucking Europe shortly afterwards as well. Or the fact the Russian military flies over Europe with no-one there noticing them loaded up with enough military power to crush the US Eastern Seaboard...
MrJohnramboguy They attacked the East Coast of the US. This means they'd have to travel across the Atlantic. First option is to cross over the Arctic Circle, meaning they'd move past the Nordic nations and Canada, as well as American-allied Iceland to reach America. None of them would let a massive Russian fleet go by without causing international concern, (a Russian fighter plane veering into European airspace makes news.) Second option is if they moved through Africa, or around the Horn of Africa. This requires them to move materiel in an incredibly slow manner, which would give plenty of warning to the US as they would take weeks or months to travel, and would pass through several nations in strength. Third option is that they sail past and fly over Europe. It's the most direct option but requires them to fly over a mass of NATO countries that would be on high alert thinking Russia was invading them, thus making the US aware. Ergo, this scenario is just dumb as there's no way Russia could move an invasion army to America without America being fully aware that it was coming.
Avensis Astari well remember Russia's army is very mighty let's friggin Italy wants war with Russia well m8 Russia would 9/10 win So even the the U.S could take on Russia it would be a hard fight in the end BUT there is one other juicy detail on a very clear day you could see Russia from Alaska so Russia could invade Alaska sorry the Alaskan fighters are know match for Russia
I like the fact that everything you do in this level is utterly meaningless. Think about it: - You storm a building, clearing it of Russian troops, - You nick some Javelins and start hammering Russian forces. No matter how hard you try, you can't clear the place, there just isn't time and there's too many of them, - The Russians evict you from that building you stormed, stopping you from using the Javelins and sending you packing by overrunning you, - You flee to a helicopter and get on the gun as the SEALs defending the roof are overwhelmed. You hammer one site of many that is a staging ground for the attack on the Evac Site. You blitz the WWII monument, but while you're en-route to the next location, you're heli takes a hit. With SAM sites covering the air, you can't escape, so you try to take them head on, - You crash and awaken to see hordes of Russian soldiers moving in on the crash site, more than you can ever hope to beat, It's a pretty great level for that hopeless feel. No matter how hard you fight, the US is losing this one hard. They're talking about carpet-bombing their own capital just to deny it to the enemy. It's only the EMP that allows the US a chance by taking down the Russian armour and air support, making it a ground war the US forces can steadily claw a close victory from.
It's ironic, because while it works great thematically and emotionally, it utterly fails to make any kind of sense. The US would have a MASSIVE advantage in both numbers and logistics on their home turf, to say nothing of familiarity with terrain. Russian air assets would have to fly across the goddamn globe just to reach the battle zone. The EMP did vastly more damage to America than the Russian raid (which is what it was--Russia could never have ever hoped to sustain the logistics necessary for an actual invasion) could have possibly dreamed of.

Still replaying this game in 2017, and this is still one of the most beautiful levels in a video game I've ever played. MW2 was a great game, and the soundtrack brilliantly captured the feel of the whole thing. 1:43 is just simply amazing. Capital burning, surrounded by a horde of enemies, fighting just to evacuate your people in a seemingly hopeless battle, but charging into it without hesitation, for country, for God, for your people, for your home. Truly amazing.

Say what you will about Call of Duty. It is by no means the best franchise. But damm. It had its moments. The beginning of this level did a fantastic job of immersing us, both the music and the visual. Putting us in the skin of a soldier fighting a desesperate battle against an overwhelming enemy in his very country's capital...I'm not even american but that shit hit me deep.
I think MW2 out of all the CoDs was able to draw the most emotion out of everything. From No Russian to every Rangers POV mission afterwards. Accompany that with such amazing soundtracks that blend very well with gunfire and tactical callouts and radio communications, it just makes for a highly immersive feel. At 6:00 the build up and suspension that brings you to the climax of everything alone makes you feel the emotion this track conveys.
Exactly and at 7:12 when overlord tells you to get tf out of there bcs you were endangerd of being overrun the track would trigger a run response like i have to get to point A to point B as fast as possible
1:45-2:04 Amazing. I also believe this mission was created to add a sense of Patriotism to the game. To get Patriotic American's pissed off, to incite them and get them to be passionate. Very well done.
Watching the UN council denouncing Russia, and then seeing a live video of DC, Kyiv, and then knowing that Pripyat, Chernobyl is being invaded like in MW1, is just haunting. Knowing that the UN, an organization to stop dictators and leaders is failing, it's almost like this game is halfway real. Now I listen to this masterpiece from Hans Zimmer, realizing the true significance of this music. Just Haunting. May God save us all.

Literally one of the greatest levels in the history of video games. Very few things have been burned into my memory like leaving the bunker for the first time and seeing the Washington Monument just as the music reaches 1:43
The most epic mission intro in call of duty modern warfare 2.... The full realization that a powerful nation has been attacked, and bled, and the familiar landscape became a smoking heap of ruins and death
I'm not even an American, but I'll never forget seeing the White House getting hit hard after coming out of the bunker and the 1:43 part of the BGM plays in my very first MW2 gameplay. What an insane spectacle it was.
When the mission first opens, you can see you're in Hell. But to see what that Hell once was, the heart of the capital of the United States of America, packs a powerful emotional gut punch the likes of which you don't expect to find in a video game. The music pretty much does the speaking for Ramirez, as he slowly digests what's happening all around him.
The segment at 7:54 is totally adrenaline-pumping. Watching the Washington Monument evac site getting hammered to hell by armor and helos as U.S forces desperately struggle to hold them off while protecting the remaining civilians. Hearing soldiers panicking over the radio as they're overrun. It really encaptulates the desperation as Foley's squad barely escapes from the Russian army swarming the building, out for blood. At that point, you know you're outnumbered, the U.S. are losing control over their own capital and shit's hitting the fan. Sprinting to the rooftop is your only chance of survival. And then hearing evacuation order april "everyone get the hell outta there" from overlord over the radio. Hans Zimmer nailed the soundtrack.
This game has to be remastered seriously I remember turning around at 1:43 and I could not believe my fucking eyes MW2 is my favourite cod game the emotion seeing the whitehouse at war was breathtaking.
I remember my first time playing this, and just the overwhelming feeling of horror, and awe fill me. Seeing the red skies, damaged monuments and buildings. The music, the scared and hurt soldiers. The bodies of US troops in almost every room of every building you cleared. It certainly left an impact on me.
In case any is wondering, the bit at 1:43 is from a track named "Seige" on the official soundtrack, which mistakingly lists Hans Zimmer as the composer when he only composed the opening titles soundtrack. The actual composer is Lorne Balfe, who is an occasional "co-worker" of Hans Zimmer.
The first time I played this stage I was moved to tears. The way you see the wounded, the way you hear shelling..... Then as you come out of the bunker and round that first corner you see it..... The washington monument, Bare metal exposed.all it once it hits you: This is washington DC.....
If WW3 happens right now or later… ARC - 5555’s quote still makes me fight for my country, *”Look around! We're one and the same; same heart, same blood. Your training is in your blood. And my blood's boiling for a fight!”*
This really sounds emotional and desperate, just like the mission itself. Maybe I’m too emotional, but this mission is something special and captures a kind of powerlessness that has not been replicated in COD since. This also reminds me of the days when Russia’s military was actually thought of as strong and scary
When you exit the bunker and see the sky, the destruction, and all the fighting in America's capital, there sheer magnitude made better by the music, really made me emotional and my heart went into my stomach like "I've GOT to save this city!"
The EMP that occurred after this level had me double taking and watching for zombies. I swear. It was just too creepy... but I fucking loved the suspense.
The cutscene for "Wolverines!!!" when NORAD radios a station on the East Coast... Sierra Delta, I believe it was, & the station responds with "Their everywhere! I'm looking at Fighter Jets over I-95, how the hell did they get through!?" All in all, seeing my country being occupied & destroyed by a foreign Military Force really gave me gossebumps.

Thomas The Dank Engine Well Titan fall imo is a good game, the story just needed to be a bit longer and it was all set to go. Also, what a shame that activision got greedy and caused the old infinity ward team to quit. Guess that explains why MW3 didn't feel the same.
Titanfall was an amazing game as well as Titanfall 2. However they got fucked over when they launched their game between COD Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 which killed their potential sales
Not that this wasn't a great game, but can we have a modern military game where the USA and Russia are on the same side for once? Against China, North Korea, or some fictional middle-eastern country

1:43 always gives me shivers
"Hunter 2-1 I recommend you clear out of there! I see a mass of foot-mobiles converging on your position"
Negative negative i have eyes on enemy vehicles advancing to the evac site from the South and Southwest
RAMIREZ! TAKE OUT THOSE BTRs WITH THAT JAVELIN!!!!
"Hunter 2-1, you bought the evac site valuable time. Well done! Now get your ass out of there ASAP. You're in danger of being overrun!"
8:30 roger that we're heading for the rooftop everyone move out!
1:42 - 2:55 This part literally made me cry the first time I heard it.
May God save us all.
if it means war to finally put a stop to these dictators, so be it, they have been allowed to grow and have scant regard for western rules based system, and willing to use nukes as a type of bullying. Fucked up.
@@DrumToTheBassWoop nukes should've never been created.
@@LegoWarFims : On the one hand, if nukes weren't made during WWII the allies would have had a long ground battle with mainland Japan, inflicting high casualties on the allies. The nukes dropped on Japan was a grim decision by allied commanders to avoid more casualties on their own forces.

Александр Зд It's from the game. I'm also sure there are millions of people who are willing to join up and really burn it down.
Inspiring Reptile they wont
Александр Зд Not unless a war happens to start. I can also say America will not lose to a Russian invasion. Could reach land but your navy and airforce would get assfucked.
No we want plus it all started by a terrorist attack so we should make peace
They were about to carpet bomb their own capital city just to deny it to the Russians, dear God this game was intense.
We rebuilt it once, we'll rebuild it again.
@@IgorFonseca244 what he means is also that the evac sites were shut down by the EMP so there’s many civilians in the city yet
From 6:02 - 6:25 if you listen closely you can hear the sound of marching soldiers.

One of the best campaigns
Rameriez, hold down the burger joint with a stun grenade and this rubber chicken and RV with us at the convoy. MOVE!!

1:36 - 3:10 is some powerful music right there. This game had a POWERFUL score.
THEY'RE INSIDE THE CAPITOL BUILDING
Start reading this at 1:29
All callsigns, the evac site is under heavy fire. Uncover enemy positions and engage potential targets.
They got optics on us! Snipers, RPG teams and heavy arms fire, all floors, twelve o'clock due west of our position!
Incoming!
Overlord, this is Hunter 2-1, requesting air support!
Uh, negative, Hunter 2-1 Actual. All available air supports are tasked with multiple casevacs along the Potomac. Proceed west to the target building and provide support, out.
Roger that, Overlord!
Everyone, get outta the killzone! We gotta buy some time for those casevac birds!
Overlord, 2-1 Actual, we're screening west with no adjacent support, and friendly victors from BCT One are hauling ass past us, over!
Copy that. Brigade Combat Team One has peeled off an LAV to provide suppression, over.
Alright, BCT One's LAV has them suppressed. Get ready to move on my mark! Ready! Go, go, go! Move up, move up!

Literally one of the greatest levels in the history of video games. Very few things have been burned into my memory like leaving the bunker for the first time and seeing the Washington Monument just as the music reaches 1:43
Rangers lead the way!

Hooah!

Shepherd, Makarov and Zakhaev disliked this video
I like this video.
Vladimir Makarov The Real Makarov likes, but the Virtual not likes it.
Don't forget Viktor Zakhaev and Khaled Al-Assad
No. do not remaster MW2. They'll just ruin it. its already a perfect game.
@@binarywaffle3433 that didn't age well
@@marbl3d45 Actually, it kinda did.
I remember my first time playing this, and just the overwhelming feeling of horror, and awe fill me. Seeing the red skies, damaged monuments and buildings. The music, the scared and hurt soldiers. The bodies of US troops in almost every room of every building you cleared. It certainly left an impact on me.
Every once in awhile I get the feeling to replay these missions
1:43 ah the timing. By the time u get out of the bunker, this part of musics starts to play, as you witness washington dc in flames
The first minute and 20 is a loop that goes on until you complete the first objective, at which point it begins 1:29
Ramirez, count those ballots before the air force arrives
I remember the first time I actually played this mission. My blood went absolutely cold at about 1:43 when you step out of the bunker.
"Sounds like we gotta be in two places at once"
"Impossible?"
"Not for the 141"
The first time I played this stage I was moved to tears. The way you see the wounded, the way you hear shelling..... Then as you come out of the bunker and round that first corner you see it..... The washington monument, Bare metal exposed.all it once it hits you: This is washington DC.....
You can tell GOW Ragnarok's "Ragnarok" theme took inspiration from this : 1:34
3:55 we all know that we shat out pants when we played high explosive for the first time.
Suhaib Rewna shit gets real when you're chased by 4 Juggernauts on Veteran
2:03 exact moment i saw to the horizon, with the sun cresting and the chinooks flying that way.
If WW3 happens right now or later… ARC - 5555’s quote still makes me fight for my country, *”Look around! We're one and the same; same heart, same blood. Your training is in your blood. And my blood's boiling for a fight!”*
who's still playing this up to now 2014?
Still running lan parties!
Panckes are Awesome MW2 is my favoeite in the series.
Panckes are Awesome Word yo same
2015 here, still playing this level at least once a month.
Best mission of the game
1:30 plays when you got out of bunker and see Washington's sky is red and Washington monument is falling down
This music made me cry 😢
3:15 a dark feeling
And a bright hope
This really sounds emotional and desperate, just like the mission itself. Maybe I’m too emotional, but this mission is something special and captures a kind of powerlessness that has not been replicated in COD since. This also reminds me of the days when Russia’s military was actually thought of as strong and scary
Almost 2019 now, and I still have yet to play a game that felt like the old cod games. Damn man, those were the good days
When you exit the bunker and see the sky, the destruction, and all the fighting in America's capital, there sheer magnitude made better by the music, really made me emotional and my heart went into my stomach like "I've GOT to save this city!"
Radio: “We got a man down! I repeat we got a man down!”
You: Continues walking
The EMP that occurred after this level had me double taking and watching for zombies. I swear. It was just too creepy... but I fucking loved the suspense.
The cutscene for "Wolverines!!!" when NORAD radios a station on the East Coast... Sierra Delta, I believe it was, & the station responds with "Their everywhere! I'm looking at Fighter Jets over I-95, how the hell did they get through!?"
All in all, seeing my country being occupied & destroyed by a foreign Military Force really gave me gossebumps.
This game being remastered was the perfect gift, just wish they remastered mp aswell.
those snare drums at 4:42-7:10. epicness at 7:11-9:31.
1:43 when you round the corner and realize, this is DC..... this is my capital, and it burns.

not a fucking combination of halo and titanfall
MrSpiceNinja it started to go Tostitos with bo2
MrSpiceNinja Ironically, the developers of this game are the same team behind Respawn Entertainment and Titanfall.
Thomas The Dank Engine
Well Titan fall imo is a good game, the story just needed to be a bit longer and it was all set to go. Also, what a shame that activision got greedy and caused the old infinity ward team to quit. Guess that explains why MW3 didn't feel the same.
Infinite Warfare was good. If it didn't have the CoD label everyone would say it was the shit. The campaign at least, I didn't play multi.
Titanfall was an amazing game as well as Titanfall 2. However they got fucked over when they launched their game between COD Infinite Warfare and Battlefield 1 which killed their potential sales
So many beautiful memories with this game
Not that this wasn't a great game, but can we have a modern military game where the USA and Russia are on the same side for once? Against China, North Korea, or some fictional middle-eastern country
James Douglas Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising
J D russia is China’s ally it wouldn’t make since besides what I got against China nk I understand
That would be a risky idea for a story, us vs russia is a safe idea from a selling point
Battlefield 2.
I'm not really sure about that, but some maps do state that Russia was at war with China, which was also fighting the US.
Honestly, if the US and Russia teamed up, no combo would ever match their might. They quite literally could take on the world and win.
This was the best game ever and i think only titanfall comes close
Murray Wright titanfall was made by the same devs
meh. Titanfall is a really good game, but the multiplayer gets really repetitive real quick.
"They have eyes on us: Snipers, RPG teams, heavy arms fire, top floor due west of our position."

This mission was a literal second D-Day, just as how the Americans fought on Omaha and Utah Beach to liberate France, they now fought on DC to liberate the White house.
