Our Rating System:
We are both firm believers that it is unjust to review and rate an album after only hearing it one or two times therefore our method for reviews is much different than everyone else on TH-cam.
Our review process starts off with a "listening session" where we hear the entire album from beginning to end, uninterrupted. We then post a video with our initial thoughts and opinions of the album. Over the course of a week we will each listen to the album as many times as we can, analyzing and critiquing it. Then at the end of the week we will post our full and final review of the album which will include our ratings.
Our scoring method is unique to this channel as well. We each rate the album out of 10 but anything 8 and above simply just gets our Toe Tag. In order for an album to make it onto the list above it must receive Two Toe Tags. It if only gets one or none then it does not make our coveted list.
Any album that receives Two Toe Tags is considered a top quality album of elite status and highly recommended by both of us. Be sure to Subscribe and turn on Notifications so you will always be in the loop with all the awesome metal we review!

I absolutely love how much the band are just abunch of dorks. It just adds more to love about the band
Her voice never fails to make my jaw drop the female Bruce Dickinson in terms of vocal talent
They seem to write chronologically so if anything this will most likely be the first song based off the lyrics. Its about the main character known as Immortal waking up again and finding himself on a ship or something in space. Where as in Apex he woke up in a mountain after he was summoned. Such an amazing band and awesome story.
6 years ago I've heard "Tonight we ride" and "The General of The Dark Army" and that was it no other song caught my attention. When Apex came out I was blown away with every single song! They made huge progress in such a short period of time. So hyped for the Abyss! Brittney fucking SLAYS
They added the synth this time guys. And in my opinion this is the opening song of next album cuz i think the song started with "I'm awake now. Where's my mountain? I'm in a daze." Not direct quotes I've just listened to the song several times today already. I'm so pumped for this new album!
It is the second track on the album.
Tracklist already came out before this song, it is not the opening track.
@@EakEmk I believe it's the first song-track on the album. I'm fairly sure the track before it is an intro track only, not a full out song. At least from what I've understood from interviews and Twitch chats. I'll see if I can get verification, but fairly sure this is the first full song on the album.

This song is awesome! I honestly cannot wait for this album to drop on 21 August 2020 -- and I heard that from the General of Metalandia herself, Brittney Slayes.
Everything in this song screams "retro '80s power anthem" -- and I love it, _especially_ Brittney's vocals! This song has basically taken the place of my favorite UtA tracks -- Awakening, Apex, Matriarch, The Coward's Way, Frozen Steel, and Queen of the Reich (UtA's cover of the same song by Queensryche).

Great review guys. Thanks for this one so quickly. I love UTA they are super-talented in every aspect ( plus being fellow Canadians doesn't hurt ), but I wish they could find a permanent bassist. Excellent track.
It sucks cause their previous bass player, nikko, was perfect for them. They do have a problem with keeping bass players in the band.
Yeah I found these guys about 4 years ago and I'm looking forward to this album for sure, their last two (not counting the EP) were awesome.

Love this and cant wait to see what they do next. This band is the drive to the gym or go surf band. You need them to get pumped for crushing a wave or work out
Great review guys, I'll have to check out more of your stuff! UTA is one of my favorite bands and I'm extremely hype for the album.
From my understanding via interviews and such, the synth is something they wanted to add but I don't believe they have plans to bring in a full out synth-player so I think you're right this adds character to the song, but doesn't overtake anything else. This song is I believe the first full-track on the album after an intro, and from my understanding picks up after APEX left off with The Immortal going to sleep, and now he's waking up at the start of this album.
Really excited to see where they take it from there!

This song sounds like the Start of the Album, especially reading the lyrics. The immortal awakens in a space ship and wonders where he is. Since at the end of the last album he made it back to Apex, the mountain.
Yup in the lyrics he ask where is my mountain? How nany song can it ve about being in his mountain? So my guess this is the first track of the album.
This is track 2, iirc. The synth sound was specific to this and a couple of the other songs on the album.
I'm so very hyped for this. I preordered the earbook for the album.

Interesting that u guys thought this would be a closer or midway though! To me this seems more like an intro since the album is called abyss and the video shows them going into what seems like an abyss! But you never know.

I think Brittney said this was one of the more synth heavy songs, so they don't go overboard with it.

I'm with you on your opinion about the synthesizer. Dream Theater is one of my favorite bands, but good God Jordan Rudess can get a little carried away at times... Okay a lot carried away, and it feels like it overpowers the songs. Never been a big fan of synths.

"Apex" was a masterpiece.Not a weak song there.But this song /and those DAMN keyboards/ is...I don't know...A metal ABBA.

this song is better than their last couple, but i hope it's not the best on the album. this definitely looks like the first based on the lyrical content, so i hope it grows from there. the teases they put on facebook a few months back seemed quite good

Nice review, the last UTA album was definitely my favourite album of the year when it came out. It was just fantastic! This song isn't bad but it isn't that good like I hoped it to be.. It ks way to much a generic powermetal song without the crazy stuff going on like on the last albim plus the synthesisers are being overused un my opinion.. :/

I like this band, but this song is just missing something. Its not bad, just doesn't floor me like some of their other tracks. Nonetheless, I'm still stoked for this album.
