Jubilee line (Stanmore to Stratford) - DRIVERS EYE VIEW

  • Reuploaded after it was shamefully removed from TH-cam, but has been modified so that it doesn't get taken down again.
The Jubilee line might be 22 years old now but is still known by many as the newest underground line. Running from Stanmore to Stratford, most of our trip will be running alongside side the Metropolitan line from Wembley Park to Finchley Road before burrowing underground towards Central London.
At Green Park we turn onto the Jubilee Line Extension (JLE) that was opened in 1999 passing important stops such as Waterloo, London Bridge and Canary Wharf. We then surface at Canning Town and continue overground to terminate at Stratford station.
This drivers eye view was filmed in February 2020, just one month before we went into the first British lockdown. All history and narration is done by myself, please like, comment and subscribe to this channel plenty more to come for the future.

Wow, this isn't just a a simple cab view, it's a full ride along documentary with excellent narration and supplementary clips and a detailed review of each stations' unique history. You've truly outdone yourself here Paul, stellar work! If there aren't any, you should definitely consider covering other lines in this manner, especially since Britain has no shortage of railway infrastructure and history.
Edit: I stand corrected, your channel is chock full of this stuff. With better thumbnails you could really explode, subbed with all notifs on! Sincerely, an American.

Bonus fun fact - while a shot from Canary Wharf made it into the trailer, after all the reshoots none of that scene actually made it into the movie

Fantastic camera work and great editing- a real treat! Thank you so much. I particularly like the way you managed to film a passing Chiltern Line train on the approach to Finhely Road. I used to hop of the Met and onto the Jubilee there daily. Great memories.

It’s mind-blowing that the Jubilee passes under the River Thames 4 times (1 time between Westminster and Waterloo, 1 time between Canada Water and Canary Wharf, 1 time between Canary Wharf and North Greenwich and 1 time between North Greenwich and Canning Town).

I find your videos are interesting on many levels - not just the elevation or depth of the running line(s). You and the team pack in many information strands, visual interest and verbal emphasis.
I found that my interest, reflecting your deep research for this edition, was only (slightly) marred by an intrusive level of music used during the opening and closing title sequences. But overall, a great presentation.

    Good ol' Video 125. x)
I haven't watched their DEV of the Jubliee in a very long time, but I immediately recognised that the intro sequence was exact to the word - except for "Canary Wharf" instead of "London Bridge!"
I also appreciate how you've based your script on the original fairly faithfully, with the additional updates and tweaks in the same style as the original.
    Bloody good job!

@@speedbird5409 very nice. I’ve had a ride in a northern line train from Golders Green to Kennington to Edgware and back to Golders Green. What really impressed me was how ATO has transformed the service. Acceleration has increased and 50 mph was attained between Kennington and Waterloo. Performance didn’t tail off towards 50 mph either like it does on the 1992 stock. I’m a train driver on the main line btw.

  • @24sweetroller7
    @24sweetroller7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Very nice informative video. I like the variety of shots, not just concentrating on all driver's eye views, but showing the trains arrival and departures from the stations. The driver's eye views seem to work best on the outdoor portions, the tunnels are too dark. However, the narration helps make the trip between stations more interesting and speeds up the trip as well. I hope to ride on this line and other routes in the London Underground someday. This video is a good start.

16:49 granted it's incredibly rare, but I have been on Metropolitan trains (alright maybe just 1) that stopped at Willesden Green at least 10 years ago, think it was when the Jubilee was having signal repairs (common shortly after the ATO implimentation).
Never stopped at Neasden on the Metropolitan though.

I know I am going to get in trouble for this but who cares, right? I haven't been on the tube since the 60s but all I can remember is who complicated it was to figure out how to get around. (probably not too bad if you used it every day). And how horribly expensive it is to ride on! I still enjoyed the video so thank you.

I always thought the Jubilee Line was a driverless line. I had only traveled a few stops in the area of the platform screen doors. I'm now quite surprised that the line is conventional
Platform screen doors need a precise landing. Do you have train control on the Jubilee line?

Good video - I particularly liked the narration, a nice change from having to read the sub-titles and on-screen graphics that other driver's-eye view videos use. I also liked the other views from the train that you used to add interest. But I nearly stopped the video before watching it - that music over the intro is just awful - so loud, and so wrong for a train vid!!
