    There's nothing wrong with it. It cycles the oil periodically to prevent overtravels and bad-levelling.

    push em all in sequence, then reverse sequence, then primes, then extents, then odds, then evens, then push em twice each in ascending order, after that spin around and say "I love to play digem butts while I ride a dover" three times (best done when other passengers are present)- once you have completed these important tasks, you will be worth of consideration for the secret floor club

    The Schindler MT elevator at the former JCPenney at Valley View Center Mall is from the mid 1990's. The call button on the 1st floor said "UP" instead of an up arrow

    Here is what an elevator man can tell you about this elevator. That is a Dover DMC with a dry-mount pump, probably a 30 or 35 horse motor, attached to a solid state "soft start" motor starter. Here's how I know. If it was a "relay logic" elevator, you would be able to hear the mechanical floor switches as it passed them. Thus it is a DMC with a tape selector. The sound the motor makes when it fires up is that of a soft-starter instead of mechanical "across the line" or "Y"/"Delta" starters. If you'd like to learn how to figure all this out from a 4 minute video, I suggest you apply yourself to the five-year apprenticeship. Then you'd know that the "running while not moving" is very normal and common.

      Thanks for the input and im kinda embarassed that you found one of my older videos where I was fairly igonrant. I have since this video was made learned ALOT about elevators. Anyway I have learned that most modern hydraulic systems do this to maintain oil temperature. If I could talk to you sometime I would love that as I always enjoy talking to people actually in the industry..

    I guess you never heard of viscosity control. Most elevators which have outside machine rooms or shafts, like a parking garage, have a special function that lets the oil stay at operating temperature. This is done by forcing oil through the valve without letting the machine run. That Dover is working as designed. The design also brings it down to a programmed floor, usually the lowest, to make sure as much oil as possible is in the tank. Ask an elevator mechanic next time before publishing something like this.

      Hydraulic elevators do this to reduce strain on the lift system.
      If it sat at, say, the 4th floor, then the main ram is under the weight of the car all the time. Oil can leak past the seals, and create problems.
      By parking on the first floor, the car settles onto its ground supports and takes the strain off the main ram when the elevator's not in use.

    The hydraulic kone elevator in town usually malfunctions in hot weather, I guess the oil becomes too thin when its warm, and leaks resulting in low pressure so elevator won't move and does weird things.

    Viscosity control theres actually a US patent with the details:
    Dover Corporation, Memphis, Tenn., a
    corporation of Delaware Filed Aug. 16, 1968, Ser. No. 753,105 Int. Cl. B66b 1/04 US. Cl. 18717 14 Claims ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a hydraulic elevator installation, a thermostat is included in a closed loop path in which oil may be recirculated by a pump. A valve controls exchange of fluid between such path and the jack for the cab so as to cause the cab to move up and down or be parked. The thermostat responds to a drop in oil temperature to a cut-invalve to cause the pump to recirculate fluid in the mentioned path until the oil is heated by turbulence effects to a selected higher cut-off temperature. Recirculation for heating purposes is continuous over the period the thermostat signals for heat except when the cab is required to respond to a down movement signal. In the absence of other control, the cab is lowered to and kept at the lowest floor in response to the thermostat signal so that most of the oil of the system is out of the jack and in the closed loop path to be subject to heating.

  • @ArisBuliteanu
    @ArisBuliteanu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    In its preferred form, however, the invention relates to elevator installations with hydraulic systems which are rendered of closed-loop configuration by the mentioned by-pass means, and in which heating of the fluid is primarily accomplished by recirculation of the fluid in the closed loop path therefor. As an aspect of the preferred form of the invention, if the cab is above the lowest floor when the thermostat means first signals for heat, the cab is lowered to that floor and is kept at such floor in the absence of calls requiring up movement of the cab. In this way, most of the fluid in the jack means is forced out of the jack means and into the recirculation path so as to be subject to recirculatory heating.

    Maybe 'good-for-nothing' yobs (Messed up teenagers, they are normally quite nice) called it at 2 & 1? Anyway, Maybe the motors starting up because of an error with the lift-to-motor control interface? It's telling the motor that the lift wants to move (When in actual fact it's not) and when the call button is pressed it finally becomes correct and says that the lift isn't moving! The doors close and the problem begins again.

    • @ChaseCutie5473
      @ChaseCutie5473 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, it's doing something called viscosity control. You know, where it's motor warms the oil by cycling it back and forth in the tank without letting the elevator run.

      DRaminfard The reason why the elevator motor starts up in the elevator does not start moving is because is being done to maintain oil temperature it’s not “messed up”
