This is an absolutely beautiful cake stand and you are awesome for sharing your expertise! The viewers should know that they need dowels (wooden or plastic) or bubble straws to support the weight of each tier. If not the weight will cause the supporting cakes to collapse. Just passing along what I know! Thank you again for sharing your craft!
Sugarpan Bakery, I agree with your suggestion. I have assembled quite a few wedding tiered cakes and they do need dowels to support the cakes. If they will put the cake stands in between, you will also need dowels inserted on the cakes where the acrylic stands will sit. I wouldn't want to see any cakes collapsing because of poor foundation. Other than that, I really love this cake stand. Brilliant work! Just need to warn brides about the weight limitations as they can buckle, especially if the cakes are heavy.

Sugarpan Bakery how would assembly be done when the cakes are put on clear acrylic discs. I will be dowelling using the thick plastic dowels as they are very strong. My cakes will be all be chocolate mudcake filled with chocolate ganache and covered with fondant. They will be put on a thick 15mm cake board. The spacer will go on top of the 12 inch cake then a 10 inch and 8 inch will go on top it. A 6 inch spacer will then be put on top of the 8inch cake and a 6 inch cake with a fondant flower foam ball flower will go on top. I was thinking to put royal icing on top on each cake where the spacer is going to be and also on the top of the spacer where the cake is going to sit. Am I on the right track? I will be assembling on site and will make sure everything is levelled before placing another tier on top. Also, where the spacer is going to sit, how can I cover the dowels so they don't show through the acrylic? I'll be forever grateful if you could give some advice as I have never assembled a cake this way.
Hi Fay D! If I am understanding you correctly, you are planning to have separated tiers with your cakes sitting on the acrylic plates. I would sugges the tall pillars where the bottom have of the pillars are inserted into the lower tier of cake. The top half of the pillar is the "pretty" portion that shows. Then the second tier would sit on top of those pillars. Sugarpan Bakery thanks so much for replying. The bride has supplied the acrylic cake spacers and they look like these www.amazon.co.uk/Clear-Acrylic-Wedding-Cake-Separators/dp/B00FQGV16A . I have never used these and I am having nightmares that the cake will collapse.

Awesome tutorial on the stands. Anyone actually doing this please make sure you dowel your cake to actually support the structures as you build. Not doweling a tiered cake/structure is a disaster waiting to happen. Food grade wooden dowels or even boba straws can be used as supports depending on your cake sizes.
stunning as usual but, as a hobby baker of 10 years and unless the cakes are very light, I wouldn't use plastic but acrylic. you can but these online on Amazon, EBay or cake supply shops..little bit more expensive but at least you will know your cakes are sturdy. Fondant covered cakes are very heavy. Buttercream not as, but still heavy..and then there's the type of cake itself. Love, love, love the stand! You rock!

My concern would be the weight of the cake...Have you tested it?
This is my first time seeing this. I would advise any one to make sure you put dowels in each level to hold the weight of each tier. Cake dummies are in now way the same. Your cake will absolutely fall.

I have an idea but no idea how to approach it.
I am trying to do a 2 tier fruit/flower bowl for a dining table centerpiece. I want the bigger and wider, deeper bowl at the bottom (for fruit) and the smaller one on top for the fake flowers/plants. I don't want the separation between the 2 bowls to show, ideally I would want the flowers and plants hiding that portion but I'd like to make the fruits and their natural colors visible (these would be real fruits)
Are you able to do a video based on the aforementioned? Your videos are always so helpful to me.
