I can’t wait to read Alex’s book. This band was my childhood, along with KISS, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin. I would honestly just like to honor these guys for the kick ass rock and roll they brought me. Every guy in that original band brought it all. Thanks boys!
I think Mike just needs to let it go. The Surviving Beatles never had a tribute concert for John Lennon after he died. Let's all just agree to honor Eddie's music by continuing to PLAY IT LOUD and let the man Rest in PEACE!
True, most musicians who passed away in the 70’s and even 80’s were rarely given a tribute concert…you mentioned Lennon, but there weren’t tributes either to Bon Scott, John Bonham, Keith Moon, etc. I suppose Brian Jones sort of was given a tribute at the 1969 Hyde Park concert in honor to him. Still, it wasn’t all about Brian Jones. I personally think the big tribute show thing started with that Freddie Mercury concert at Wembley in 1992.
I'm from Amsterdam, just like the brothers and I can tell you this: Alex is done. He sees now that there is no point to playing without Eddie. He is Dutch..Dutch people are nice, but extremely stubborn and this circus that is still surrounding VH? Guarantee it's gotten on Alex's last nerve and that's it as far as he is concerned. No, I don't personally know him. But I sure as hell know how Dutch people think.
For the love of God, Alex is almost 72 years old....there are people his age in the nursing home and a lot more people his age that are dead already. Wake Up!!! He has more money than Wolfgang's grandkids could ever spend. Van Halen's last show was in October 2015 - almost a decade ago, so this is not a new "retirement" now. At age 72, everyone realizes you are not going to be around forever and you need to get rid of a lot of shit you don't need or use anymore. Also, when age 72 is coming up, it's extremely unlikely that Alex could play all the VH songs at the high level we were used to hearing from him, especially with having profound hearing loss in both ears. So do not look for him to ever play again. Alex's book is probably the final encore of his career and very likely the last time anything from him will be released. RIP Eddie! Godspeed, ALEX! God bless Sammy, Mikey, David and Wolfie!
That's usually the case. One or two primary songwriters and as the singer will write the lyrics but it's up to the person who wrote the melody that can take the lions share of the credit and it's up to him to include the lyric writer as that falls in line with his job as the vocalist. Same goes with the lead guitarist & a guitar solo falls under their job description as a lead guitarist.
I wouldn't blame Alex if he never played again. I can't even imagine losing my only brother, let alone if we played together for like 60 years. How could this guy ever play without Eddie? I have the opinion that all these people howling for a tribute are just wishing and being selfish. You want to pay tribute? Grab one of the 6 pack and make sure the neighbors hear it.
Can’t wait for Alex’s book. Read Tone Chaser last year. Was great. I loved VH. Favorite band of all time. The Roth era was best period for me. Not even close. SOME Van Hagar was good. Most too sappy and commercial. I think the tribute thing without Alex, Roth, and Wolfy is stupid. Let it go. Playing Hagar solo stuff at it? Also stupid.
Great thumbnail with the Hagar worst haircut of all time. Alex announced this publicly about his gear in part to shut up Hagar, Dave and Mike about this stupid tribute once and for all. Dave’s a weirdo, Hagar is useless, and yeah Mike is a nice enough guy. But Alex is the only one with any genuine integrity. Hopefully he will put out some classic DLR era live footage at some point. And yes nobody cares about the Hagar years.
I can't stand Sammy...but I'm very 'eh who cares' about Mikey. Funny story....I was in a porno book store near Detroit and Sammy (the big tour they did with Metallica and others) and Alex were in there too. I saw them briefly. Alex looked like the Cryptkeeper...trashed.
Why would Al want to play with anyone else, as it would be sub-par….i hope Al find some peace. Love the title! 😂😂😂❤ Screw the people who don’t get you! Love it, do not change! It’s hilarious! ❤️❤️❤️
@@musicstream26 Well that’s is great news. Hard to know with him being so tight lipped and such. Looking forward to his book and really happy to hear this news. Thank you! 🙏 ❤️
Michael Anthony sort of seems like the guy you enjoy having at parties but overstays his welcome and you can't seem to get rid of him. It is my belief that it was only his high voice that saved him from dismissal. Having said that he was very very important to the Van Halen sound. He also got a 25 percent cut on songwriting royalties and I bet he didn't contribute much if any. I think this bothered the brothers over time. Also promoting his hot sauce at gigs didn't help matters
Buying Alex's book and FUCK remastered. I cant stand the red wom nowdays but there are some great jams on that FUCK record,Pleasuredome is one of them. But anyways do I care tjat Eddie wronged Michael Anthony? Noooope. Without Edward Mike wouldn't even be known,he wouldn't even have a career! So he made out ok since he's got more money than you and I,I just laugh at the people crying poor Mike! He made a living out of singing to Ed's greatness and being that nice guy. But anyways bring on Reverend Al's book exposing that Ronald McDonald fraud -V/-/-
Sammy's just doing this tour as a cash grab. Not that he needs it. I've read Sammy's book, Van Halen Rising and also the Noel Monk book. Years ago, before I subbed to your site, I told you (via comments) about the quote from Rick Derringer's (and Johnny Winter's) former drummer, Chuck Ruff, who played with Sammy, about what a two-face Sammy was. My guess is that Sammy got the VH guys to invest in Cabo but somehow convinced them that it wasn't going to work. The VH boys then bowed out, Sammy bought them out and it helped to make him filthy rich. We'll see when the book comes out. I wonder if Al will do the Eddie Trunk show when it's released. I doubt it!
Hagar did say in the book Cabo had some rough years in the beginning and were losing money. None of them knew it was going to be a big tourist destination. Not sure if Mike sold his share back to Sam though. Eddie liked putting his money into technology and that eventually paid off for him.
I wonder if Sammy lied to them about cabo not doing well in order to get them to sell. I didn't know or think about Michael Anthony buying a piece of that. Does he own part of it?
First off I gotta say this before I speak, methamphetamines are hell of a drug… And then I got to explain some shit you got backwards. Yes, Eddie Van Halen wrote all the guitar work in the band, but Alex Van Halen helped arrange the parts. How many to do of this, how many to do of that. How to stary the song off and such which makes him 100% a songwriter on almost every song. I don’t think you understand how that goes. If you rearrange and or arrange a song it means you helped write it. So I don’t know where you got your info that only Dave and Eddie wrote the songs, that’s mental. And you need to realize that Michael signed the agreement so he agreed with it! Get your info correct bruh
I don't know why people don't have a sense of humor. I love Van Gina as you call it, not as much as DLR but your rants are great and Hagar is an insufferable liar and Mike does act like his wife. Your cracks on Sammy Belcher don't hinder my enjoyment of music. Maybe it's because I'm not a pickle whistler. SCHMACKAMAGOB
First time on this page. Why all the hate against Hagar? I love Ed & miss him dearly, but he did have a dark side. Whether that was from his substance abuse or something else. But with all I’ve read, I’ve never understood why Ed treated Michael Anthony so badly. Michael Anthony is a class act guy.
Being that you are new here you have not seen the many videos where I talk about Eddie treating Michael like shit. And this is why I cant stand Sammy. th-cam.com/video/wgwrEQuIPC0/w-d-xo.html
Stay frosty, listen to Van Halen and SHMACKAHMAGOB! Farewell and ado to you fair Shanish ladies, farewell and ado to the ladies of Spain as weve been givin' orders to a sail back to Boston...
Mike is the best backup singer and isVan Halens entire vocal sound. Mike was screwed. Love Dave but he was a train wreck. Sammy kicks ass man. Sorry. Disagree.
Ralph, DLR was great for VH in the beginning, but his act was getting old. He was never a good singer live. Talked more than anything else, and mostly about himself. Would have been great in the circus. Sammy wins . Not even close.
Who in their right mind would leave a band after a massive album and tour? They were burnt out for a lot of reasons but for Dave to walk away it had to be toxic. It was easy for Sam to walk in with most of the songs done and all Sam had to do was a "hello baby" here and a "UH" there, buy a Mad Libs and start writing the words to 5150. Sam "fired the first shot" on the Sam vs Dave feud and it took a decade for him to realize WHY Dave left but would rather keep the feud going. Dave just treats Sam like a kid who rides the short bus.
What's the difference between Sammy Hagar and a washing machine. You can dump a load into a washing machine and it won't stalk you for 6 months telling you it needs you .
how do you not click when you see Sammy in a thumbnail picture on an Almost Human video? Guaranteed GOLD!!!!
I can’t wait to read Alex’s book. This band was my childhood, along with KISS, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin. I would honestly just like to honor these guys for the kick ass rock and roll they brought me. Every guy in that original band brought it all. Thanks boys!
That meme "emergency toilet paper" for Sammy's book had me laughing

Absolutely.
Well said
Sammy Hagar Is my favorite subject on this channel. Fucking golddd

RIP Mr Eddie VanHalen that's my tribute thanks to Alex VanHalen for being true to his family much respect and love
Alex is over 70 now, he's also a pretty religious man, I think it's both these issues and the fact that he's still grieving have played into this.
Thanks for the giggles Ralph. Appreciate you!!

Im sure Alex with play drums with the kids, He has probably played with Wolfie some, But we will never see him on stage again
what comment are you reacting to?
Damn, memphissommers, your comment actually got me choked up. Couldn't have summed it up better myself.
Your sense of humor is one of the main reasons I watch your content!
Thank you!

Congrats on being able to find the Gayest picture of Hagar for the thumbnail. There must have been thousands to choose from.
Bonham &satriani ROCKIN IT 👊💪👊💪
The most memorable moment of Van Gina is their song that seems to open NBA games. I forget the name of the song but I know it’s Van Gina
this is great...good work
He sold all his tour gear, I bet he still has drums.
I wouldn't blame Alex if he never played again. I can't even imagine losing my only brother, let alone if we played together for like 60 years. How could this guy ever play without Eddie? A band having its own tribute is ridiculous. Although I expect it from KISS. I don't think Al was ever serious about a tribute tour.
Can’t wait for the book!!! But it’s sad bout Alex I get it though
Your opinions are not shared by everyone! A little restraint would be appreciated!
Well, we know those snare drums aren't gonna last very long!!

Alex is allowed to go out on his own terms, clearly Alex and DLR are on different terms than Sammy and Michael Anthony…
I can't stand Sammy...but I'm very 'eh who cares' about Mikey.

Hot sauce at gigs from a bass player...😂 ?...does he have a stake in Jack Daniels whiskey too ? Looks like he's trying to sell that as well ...
Michael is not kidding, It does look like he is selling everything, Dam
Look it up, Alex Van Halen auction Back Stage Auctions is putting it on

I don’t know what the infatuation with having a tribute show with people is. I’d rather see a tribute old school VH band then this🤮
Micheal Anthony made it sound like Dave could actually sing for over a decade. He deserved every dime he got out of that band and then some.
When are Sammy and Mike getting married?

On one hand, Eddie and Al did Mike dirty, but on the other hand, Eddie got to record and tour with his son and I'm sure that meant the world to both.
