You’re correct about all except the compensation part. Rural medicine tends to pay better due to the demand, it’s more so do to current generations not wanting to live in a rural area, far away from everything.

Why would they choose to live in a town where people in the local cafe talk like jerks. All they need to do is look at Wikipedia to see what the social atmosphere is in that rural town.

rural physicians need higher compensation, Medicare reimbursement should also be higher to keep the hospitals open and running.
The only way this will happen is if these people swap out leadership at the state level in the next election.
