That's what 25+ years of progress. Sure the new-age Giulia is quicker, but I would to my current 2.5 V6 (CF3, but with non-cat exhaust manifold) all day long. I would never be bored with the Busso.
I wonder what you wanted to test? Giulia is lighter than 156 especially in SW and has rear wheel drive so it will grip much more easily to ground at start. Not mentioning that 2.5 V6 has really high rev character and start from 0 is really hard for it, you should've punch it from around 3500 RPM to achieve a good start and still if you don't have any real good grip tires it won't go off easily. I do have also 156 SW 2.5 V6 although I have CF3 but I wouldn't even think about starting with such car as Giulia. Well actually I think starting from 2nd gear and 4-4,5k revs could give better start, but I don't feel like wanting to check it (I am not sure about my clutch) but when I'll replace clutch I think I'll give a go with such start.

The biggest difference is the gearbox. New generation gearboxes are more efficient, less power loss
